The fact that everyone in our community knows 100% that Cary should have 3 gold medals, and likely an Olympic gold, gives me zero solace. I doubt I could be angrier for the bullshit someone I’ve never met had to go through

Man that’s heartbreaking…I couldn’t even begin to imagine what that feels like to train harder than anyone else and wrestle better than everyone else and to get those matches stolen from you. Thankful he’s learned how to process and live with it and that he’s giving back to the sport that he’s given so much to.

I also think he has been one of the biggest influences on the younger generation of wrestling’s I remember being in middle school and even in highschool and me and my teammates watching his videos and trying new techniques. What he has done for wrestling especially now a days is very amazing to see. If you pull up a video with a guy in a yellow shirt and black shorts, most high school wrestlers are gonna know. People get offered better trips with more money even though you have way more experience and know all the ins and outs of the industry but it just doesn’t matter. Some people just stick behind their own and that’s that.

Braaah, I never knew Cary got shitted like this. To not wanna yell this from every mountain top speaks to his character and inner peace. You can hear it in him that he knows he’s a World and Olympic Champ. But that competitive streak never leaves and you see that too with medals put away in storage so it’s not a constant reminder. More importantly it speaks to more Russian sports collusion. At what point to you ban them for life? To strip a man’s livelihood like this and IMO these were incredibly clear calls blatantly overturned in the shadiest of ways. I would’ve ripped off my clothes like that one coach and refused to leave the match after the first match fuckery. But 3x? Sheesh. Dude’s a legend and my favorite part was the end where USA Wrestling was asking for Cary to come back and help. I’m sure we could’ve paid off refs and competition committees as well but we’d prefer to whip your ass the right way. #CaryWorld&OlympicChamps. To all my young wrestlers coming up, please understand that life isn’t fair. It never has been and never will be. And as soon as you start thinking that, you’ll get slapped with in the face with something to remind you it’s’ not. Don’t think it’s a personal attack on you, it’s just the way it goes sometimes. And the better you are, the more your comp wants to see you fall. Thank you Flo, this is packed with so many life lessons both inside and outside of wrestling. We love you Cary and you’re always the Champ in my eyes. 🙏🏼

They have a different culture. And think nothing of what we call ‘cheating’. I play squash, which is heavily played by Mid-easterners. They constantly ‘Cheat’ … even in friendly games and think nothing of it. Intentionally incorrect scoring and Stroke calls. It’s really amazing. When playing, you usually have to reserved a court in advance. But one day there weren’t as many people playing so we were able to walk into a court NOT reserved. Later I see a guy walk up with his kids…all courts are full…so he goes to the desk and reserves the court on which I’m playing for the current time….he then comes back and says he’s reserved the court and I have to leave. This was Texas, not Tehran…I tell him to F-off, I was here first. He tells the Club Manager, when I explain, the Mgr tells the guy…ahh NO, you cannot do this…I kept the court and the rules were changed.

Cary can rest easy knowing that he was the best in world at that time and one of the best to ever do it. The confirmation of his status is that he was never beaten on the mat but cheated in the back rooms. I know that he excepts his silver as a legitimate lose but he is rightfully a 4 times world champion and the people that cheated knows this to be true. The stunt the Russians pulled at the 2000 Olympics just showed the that they had no faith in their wrestler to beat Kolat. I hope that he continues coaching at Campbell and producing elite wrestlers like himself, he owes the USA wrestling nothing.
