Last thing I expected to see when I clicked on the link, greatest surprise I’ve had in a long time. Been a subscriber for a while now because of the way you make science fun. You just went to a new level of forming a tighter community with your followers. Thank you, loved it and much respect for your journey. Keep the videos coming when your schedule allows.

29:30 - The best time to take the GRE is just before graduating college. Even if you're not wanting to go to grad school, but think that some day you might. I don't remember how I decided to do this, whether someone advised me, or if it just seemed like a good idea. But I ended up being extremely glad that I did.

I'm so glad you did this video! There were so many things that were hinted at or briefly touched on in your other videos that it's nice to finally have the background fleshed out. Also, my niece is in the Navy and getting out soon. I think she's worried about what's next so I'm going to send her here.

I loved this. Your time in the Navy was especially interesting, you've achieved so much! I'm pleased you found a job you enjoy too, after the JPL thing. What a journey, and I have enjoyed following along the last few years of it since you started your channel. You rock!

It is interesting to me that there is no one path through life; that the paths are as varied as the stars in the sky. Thank you for sharing your story. And, thank you for your service. Do not differentiate your time in the Navy because you did not "deploy". It just worked out that way. Your oath of service was no different than all the other Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. Had circumstances been different, you would have done your duty all the same. I love that you took a risk with the Navy, having very little knowledge of what you might experience. I think it is this expeditionary attitude that often sets us apart as Americans.

I’m so impressed by your drive and the accomplishments you’ve achieved. You have done some heavy lifting in both the navy and in academia. I’ve enjoyed your KZbin channel since it was recommended (somewhere in the last third of your year of space facts). What I can’t understand is how you haven’t got far more subscribers. You are an excellent science advocate and presenter with a superlative and infectious joy when you discuss astronomy. The KZbin algorithm obviously has some bugs in it.

I've followed you for a few years now. I think on Twitter and TikTok? Those would be the types of the videos of yours that I've seen. I've been working today and decided to take a break, your video popped up. I've always enjoyed your content, you have an infectious smile and I love hear about things space stuff. However, I had no idea you were such a badass. The F'ing Naval Academy! I can't believe that was over 46 minutes. It just flew by. Anyway, thanks for sharing. I found it all so interesting.

Nice video. It's cool to see someone have a non-standard path. I am from Canada and studied physics and computer science as my major. I did not go to grad-school right away since I wanted to take a break from school and work first. I am 28 now, would still like to go back eventually. Your positivity is cool as well, I definitely need more of that in my life! I thank the youtube algorithm and overlords for recommending me this video.

I am very glad you've chosen astrophysics over politics. For astrophysical objects give you space, and you may trust them to stay in their orbits... And strangely I also found myself learning Spanish at the last semester of my undergraduate degree in math and physics, in order to do a refreshing trip to south America... So thanks for sharing your life story!

Wow, your video is really insightful and inspiring! I'm a 2nd year astrophysics undergrad in college right now and I want to go to grad school right after I graduate. I'm not sure what applying to grad school and being a grad student will be like, but for one thing I really want to do observational research on asteroids and other small solar system bodies! I'm kinda bit worried about post-grad and all that, but I'll try remember to take notes from you if the time ever comes :D

You sound very smart based on your academic achievements and your interests. I’m guessing at least 98th+ percentile in IQ, and likely 99th percentile. You said you like taking tests, I think you would have fun taking the WAIS IQ test. I’m sure you have thought about it because you remind me of myself in some ways. I took the WAIS-4 version, not the newer WAIS-5, so let me know if you have any questions.
