Heck yeah, even tho I was only around 7 y/o I remember my uncle teaching me about anime, specially DBZ and I remember seeing Goku SSJ 5 and thinking it was real, but that it was from a secret story after GT that only some people knew about, but I really wanted to see that "anime" or "cartoon" of DB but never found anything, until later on with years past I realized it was pure fan art :(

If you haven't yet, look for the Dragon Ball Multiverse fan comic online. It's done by a bunch of different artists, and from what I remember, it's basically another tournament. But, it's done in a "what if" kind of scenario, where different universes were created from the different events that happened throughout DB-DBZ. In one universe, Goku never met Grandpa Gohan, and Krillin, Yamcha (who was an android in this universe), and Tien were the heroes. In another Majin Buu absorbed everyone. And in another, Nail fused with every Namekian ever and literally became the last one. Each universe has it's own side story, and it's really good the way it's presented. Give it a read when you can.

In my country, when there were rumors of Dragon Ball Af, people were still watching Dragon Ball Z. We were been told by older kids about the existence of two new series: Dragon Ball Gt and Dragon Ball Af. Nobody HAD internet back then (yeah, it already existed), so nobody could check. Eventually, Dragon Ball Z finished and the same Tv network aired Dragon Ball Gt the following day. This confirmed the rumor, so everyone assumed that Dragon Ball Af was going to be aired after Gt. I have all Toyble's AF books. It's actually a really interesting story and I would love to see it adapted in some way. The 100 year gap timeline at the end of GT would be awesome to explore. WHO CAN FORGET AF. THE SUPER SAIYAN 5 PICTURE =P. It was so different in the early 2000's...people find it hard to understand. The internet was not as centralized as it was today and rumors were very hard to verify....especially if it came from a different country! Finding (and downloading) full DB/Z/GT episodes took such a long time...you had to scour the depths, and finding an accurate sub was like finding a diamond in the rough. The internet was a mysterious place full of wonders lmao...really!

THANK YOU. Finally an in depth exploration of DB AF on KZbin! Not trying to throw shade on Josh at Dragon Ball Nation, I have much love for him and his content, but his video was missing a lot of key details. He didn't even differentiate between Toyo and Young Jiji's versions of AF.

Only if I could remember my old Photobucket info, I would be able to pull up a lot of the old DBZ shit I drew and scanned, circa 2003-'04 I believe. I've been drawing since 3yo, and started drawing DB stuff at around 8yo. I'm now 32yo. So yeah, I got pretty damn good at drawing this stuff. Still have older things from HS somewhere here, and more recent shit too. I'm old as shit, kinda. I've been watching the DB series for years. Well before CN aired it. I even remember back when it only aired up to the SJ saga. Until the day a Japanese kid moved on my old block. He recorded tons of shit on VHS and even translated it for me. Aite, let me shut my old ass up. Thanks for the upload.

In France we had Dragon Ball back in 1991 and DBZ shortly after. In Italy it was the same. It's only in the Americas that it took off so late (late 90's - early 00's).

Ryad 13 type in "dragon ball af manga Reddit". When you go into Reddit there is two version of dragon ball af manga, one by toyaturu and one by young jiijii

Ryad 13 There is also the one by Toyotaro, but it's shorter, and as far as we know, dead. The difference between the two is that in 1, someone goes ssj 5, and in the other, it ends on cliff hanger.

I first saw an episode of DB in 1994 when I was ten years old. I’ve been a fan of it ever since. I have the vhs cassette tapes in both English and Japanese. I’ll eventually buy it for dvd.
