Everyone knows the story of Max, but not much is known about Goofy's first son, Goofy Junior. In this video, we explore what Disney Animation did with Goofy's first son, and where he is today. We also discuss Goofy's original alias, George G Geef and how it is related to his missing son, Goofy jr.

It IS Max. Someone needed to do more research. When they were designing an older Goofy Junior for Goof Troop they used his and PJ’s “younger” designs as Goofy’s and Pete’s sons from the classic shorts as the base design that needed to “look older” for the show, if you check the old concept arts for Goof Troop you’ll see Max was a redhead just like he was in the shorts. But they thought it doesn’t look right and that being black-headed like his father would work better for his now older character design. Newer international dubs of the old short featuring Goofy Junior that were done AFTER Goof Troop have him named “Max”, including the Arabic dubs that I know more about the behind-the-scenes of, and it was a request from Disney themselves because he IS the same character but now older and slightly redesigned to work better with his new personality traits.

I think he's pulling a "MatPat," where he is 100% aware that he is lying for clout. Also, Goofy didn't "go" by the name George G. Geef in the 50's, that was a character he played, as well as Mr. Walker/Wheeler, while Max (though unnamed at this point) played George Geef Junior. One more thing... that "BB gun" is a popgun.

Goofy's baby mamma was probably that cow they always paired him up with. Clarabelle I think was her name. Max could've taken right after Goofy. We know other animals exist in Disney and she could've left due to specist pressures to not be with a dog (even though, disburbingly enough goofy was noted as human which explains why he and pluto act differently. ) and went back to Horace.

Max's mother supposedly passed away. That's why in the college movie Goofy remarried. There was a line somewhere in the movies where they mention that they miss her. I think they also look at a photo that we don't see? But yeah it's been years. I'd have to double check on the scene.

Maximilian "Max" Goof is the son of Goofy. He first appeared in the 1951 short Fathers Are People, as Goofy Junior, and remained a regular in subsequent Goofy shorts of that era. His modern iteration, redesigned and renamed "Max Goof", first appeared in the 1992 animated TV series Goof Troop. Goofy Jr is the Milk Man's Son (Or someone else Son). "Goofy's" Wife left him and took the kid with her. Goofy moved away and change his name to Goofy and met another woman who he fell in love with they had a son (Max) and she died. Case Closed.

I think it’s safe to say the goofy that we see in the cartoon isn’t actually goofy because he doesn’t sound anything like goofy and I don’t think he’s ever referred to as goofy. Plus, there’s like 1 million goofy duplicates in those old cartoons so I think it’s safe to assume it’s not actually goofy himself.

goofy jr's skin color reminds me a lot of pete's daughter pistol and his wife peg. what if when they rebooted goofy and his son and turned him into max, they kept the characteristics of him by giving them to pistol? from how you described it both goofy jr and pistol both have somewhat similar personalities... unless...goofy jr is the love child of goofy and pete's wife peg, and he's an adult now and moved away...it would make sense to why pete doesn't like goofy as much. lol

Dippy Dawg is the original and current "Goofy". "Goofy Goof" is his stage and character name. (Though it's changed frequently since he never could find a stage name he liked.) When Disney approached him about doing a series based on "fatherhood" (Starting with "Fathers are People Too"), Dippy declined since he wasn't ready for the responsibility of a child and all that it entailed. Disney recast the part, hiring an aspiring toon actor of the same anthropomorphic race named "George G Geef". George mostly looked like Dippy, but had a healthier dental profile and a less humorous voice. Since he and his wife were already expecting a child, it was a perfect fit. Goofy (Formerly "Dippy", but now having legally changed his name) continued to play the character "Goofy" frequently when a less serious and more slapstick take was needed. Behind the scenes, he did eventually marry and had one child named "Maximilian Goof". Unfortunately, Goofy's wife and Max's mom did pass away. When Disney decided to make "Goof Troop", with Goofy as a single dad, they decided to go with the original Goofy over George for multiple reasons. The greatest being that they wanted a more traditional comedic take on the character. While George was a reasonably good actor, his comedy chops weren't even comparable to the original Goofy, who had fully committed himself to the character. Additionally, Max was just the right age for the son character they wanted, whereas George Jr (AKA "Goofy Jr") was now too old to play the part and had no interest in returning to acting.

Maybe what happened was that Goofy's wife cheated on him and Goofy Jr. was the result of the cheating. Goofy found out about his wife's disloyalty after Maxi was born, and he left his wife with his second born son leaving Goofy Jr. with his mother.

So not sure if it was changed in canon, but Max's Wiki states this was Max before he was named Max. Maximilian "Max" Goof is a cartoon character who is the son of the Disney character Goofy. He first appeared in the 1951 short Fathers Are People as Goofy Jr., and later appeared in the 1992 television series Goof Troop as Max Goof, a preteen.

Maybe the mom left George and took the kid with her and used to let him[George] take care of him[Goofy JR] every once in a while, like to the baseball game, but stopped eventually after Goofy remarried and had another kid. And maybe he renamed himself out of shame and as a reflection of how he feels after messing up so badly. Then another tragedy strikes when his new wife passes away. Its actually confirmed in one of the movies that the mom passed away

From what I hear, Goofy's son was renamed Max later on making him the same son. However, Goofy's original ole lady was a 400 lbs hillbilly and Max's mom, Mrs. Goof, or "Geef", was an average to thin upper class lady who strangely looks like an older Roxanne from Goofy Movie. I'll be honest, as popular as Goofy Movie was, now would be a good time to do a sequel to that and yes I know about an extremely Goofy Movie, but it seemed too much like a drawn out series episode, the heart wasn't there like the first one.

i believe that goofy tried to stop goofy jr's mom from killing her self and in doing so accidentally shot her and goofy jr seen him so he shot goofy jr went on the run and changed his name to goofy because of his circumstances and trauma and in guilt started a new family but because of his past trauma the relationship between maxi's mother and the now "goofy" fell apart he took maxi in a custody battle maxi's mother got addicted to drugs and overdosed 2 years later ,Take in mind that maxy is about 4 and a half at this time🤯😎🥸🥲🤫🤫🤭

Goofy's original son must've been a child actor hired to play the role his child, we know from an episode of Walt Disney's Disneyland titled 'The Goofy Success Story' that he is an actor, that his shorts are all in-universe short films he made for Disney, and that in the shorts where he doesn't have ears he's somehow hiding them off camera (In the case of 'Motor Mania', under his hat). And in House Of Mouse the cast of characters who populate the cliub are, of course, coming there to watch cartoons about Mickey and Co., heck, in one episode when they lose all of the cartoon reels Mickey, Minnie and Goofy have to run off and hastily film a new one. So it's likely that the shorts are just Hollywood productions, and that stuff like Goof Troop would be closer to what their lives are really like. After all, in 'A Goofy Movie' Max is shown to own a Mickey Mouse phone, so Mick must be a celebity in-canon. In the 1940's between both the Sunday Mickey Mouse Strip and Daily Mickey Mouse Strip, there are two different storylines in which Mickey gets a call from the studio to come act in a new cartoon, the one from the Sunday strip leads into a shot-for-shot recreation of the actaul short "The Brave Little Tailor". In the story from the Daily Strip, on his way to the shoot he runs into Goofy, who is also working there, and Goofy complains that he just finished a short where he does just about nothing while a grasshopper gets all the laughs, refering to the recently released "Goofy And Wilbur." The reason why the kid appears again in the House Of Mouse could be simply because the scene called for a child actor, and since Goofy had previous experience working with Jr. he might've suggested they cast him in the part. That happens a lot, naturally an actor would like to call up people they've worked with before and had a good experience with. The reason why his wife disappeared must be that she was only an actress, and they weren't really married. Around the time when Goofy was depicted having a wife, he was sometimes paired romanticly with Clarabelle Cow, and in 1969 he started going steady with a girl named Glory-Bee, none of this lines up if he's actually married, but it makes sense if it's all acting.

I think "george" isn't goofy, since that era loved making a lot of goofy offshoots, like mr walker from the car cartoon or those stadiums full of goofs during the sports cartoons. I think george geef is just another member of this dog species that was everywhere during that tume.
