This animation looks great. I love it! ^^ I am Thai, and I was in Siem Reap for the first time about a month ago. I was so impressed by the greatness of Angkor Wat and the Khmer civilization. Personally, I believe we Thai have borrowed many things from the Khmer. Some of the vocabulary we use today are originally Khmer words, but most of us don't realize that.
@JP-wx6uh3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. So many things were similar, because the Siamese and Khmer together once fought against the Mon Empire (Burma) because the Siamese were living in the western part of the Khmer Empire (Sukotai, etc.).

I have nothing to do with Asian culture. But that doesn't stop me from realizing some of the greatests wonders, some of the first, and civilizations, and the culture of the asian world is fascinating and wonderful. I have read many accounts of Thai, Khmer, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, and Tibetan culture and can't get enough. Everytime I learn something, I want more. I only wish this video series were in English so I could learn more about it.

Jumreap Sua, Unfortunately when we learn history, we can't never be sure it's 100% correct. Each has its own version. That's why it's necessary to be as careful as possible when talking about the same thing which has been recorded by different people. Anyway, I love Khmer civilization and always wish to learn more about it.

Jumreap Sua, I've heard that idea before. However, it's just a 'hypothesis' made by a group of historians, not a judgement, and not all historians hold that view. I think people in general accept that the Khom were ancestors of Khmer people today - or at least I do.

Lon Nol (លន់នល់ in Khmer) (November 13, 1913 - November 17, 1985) was a Cambodian politician and soldier who served as Prime Minister of Cambodia twice as well as serving repeatedly as Defense Minister. He proclaimed himself, after a coup against Norodom Sihanouk president of the newly formed Khmer Republic.

Jumreap Sua, If you are talking about Preah Vihear, I just don't care who owns it as long as I can sometimes visit the temple and appreciate its greatness. Personally I think it should be taken care of by Khmer people, because it was built by your ancestors. Anyway, it's just my own opinion which no one will listen to, and the real problem is about the territory, not the temple itself.

I met Jayavarman VII. I felt very bad as he told Preah Akine and me that he was dead by poison before the war started at Angkor by some people that were planted to stay close to him. His body was tied with rock and dumped into water at East Baray. Then he took a deep breath and said. I was a looser in the past, but I will alway win for the future. He went to study mighty power at heaven, and now he is at Angkor Wat with his groups.

You're right. In fact it seems too harsh to use the word 'steal', because adjacent cultures normally influence each other. Loads of words in Khmer come from Pali and Sanskrit. Should we say that the Khmer 'steal'? I don't think so. Actually there's no point in arguing about this. Thailand and Cambodia are neighbors and friends. The fact that we are so alike in many ways should contribute to our good relationship, not destroy it.

The reason why some parts of the film is grayish or discolored is because this film is obviously 3D When a 3-dimensional scene appears the discoloration occurs. In order to watch this clip to it full potiental you'd have to wear 3D glasses that were given at the show.

The Thai language comes from the Yunnan Province in China. Chinese is a tonal language and that's were the tones come from. The Thai were a nomadic people that fled because of the Mongols. They took over parts of Cambodia and probably took influence from the Khmer thus the Khmer numerals on their curreny. Also, do not forget that your writing system and the Thai along with Laotian and Burmese writing system is derived from sanskrit. Who cares if you borrow froma similar writing type?

We don't expect them to stop. Our Khmer ancestors had tried for centuries, but they never show their gratitude towards Khmer people even those foreigners who died fighting for Thailand from Japan occupation, they're still ignorant. But we can enlighten the world to see what kind of Thai people are!

Following the removal of Sihanouk, Nol and Prince Sisowath Sirik Matak demanded that the North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong leave Cambodia. He also closed the ports of Cambodia to military supplies for the Vietnamese forces. The government also assumed a pro-Western, anti-Communist stance. The proclaimed goal of American bombings in Cambodia was to destroy North Vietnamese and National Liberation Front (Viet Cong) bases in the area.

Kamboja are Aryan(Indian) people. They are labeled as being in the sphere of Indian culture at the time and was part of the many tribes of Bharatvarshra(India). The whole thing about Kamboja coming to Cambodia is a very unlikely theroy. BTW Ancient Iranian are not the same Iranians you see today. They have been invaded by Arabs and have been Arabized.
