My wife is a direct descent from Antoine Manseau and John I Miller. They made the damn that flooded the carp river that made the lake in the Leland. Uncle Jim Miller had owned the Miller's Hotel Northern Hotel bar and restaurant. As a young girl, she went to fishtown when they still salted fish. Then the houses were lived in and not shops. Uncle Jim later settled in a farm house that had been in the family. His hobby was growing orchards and making wine. Please visit the museum dedicated to the founders of Leland. John I Miller's grandson, Clifford Miller came down as one of Henry Ford's first workers on his assembly line. Clifford's son Leo is my wife's father. She misses the home of her roots dearly.

I hope that the structures at the waters edge can be protected from rising lake levels. There is a video on that threat and efforts to,preserve that historic part of town.

+No Budget Productions impressive, no written records for how long my descendants have been coming there...good find figuring out your ancestors been showing up there for thousands of years.

+Joshua Jackiewicz, One thing that I don't like about Leland is that it is now becoming a so called tourist attraction :(

I just read “Leland An Historical Sketch” by Joseph Littell. 1920 (revised 1951, 1989) Fabulous publication. Maybe your grandfather?

Gabe Littell I agree. Our family has been going since the 50’s or 60’s and in recent years it feels different than in the past
