If they really liked her (romantically speaking), they could have dropped her off, exchanged numbers and had a proper sober consenting exchange the next day or whatever. These 4 men are absolutely responsible. If they would have never taken possession of her (cause that’s what you do when you agree to take care of a drunk person) it was their responsibility to make sure she got home safe. Had they left her at the bar someone would have called her an Uber or someone responsible could have gotten her home. I know it could have gone 10 different ways and most of them are bad but it’s not a crime to get drunk. It’s not a crime to get VERY drunk. It is a crime to take advantage of an intoxicated woman and leave her on the side of the road to fend for herself, and be hit by a vehicle. Everything about this case is everything wrong with this world today. Rest in peace, Maddie. ♥️ i’m sorry you didn’t have better friends.

This is a very sad and tragic story. Doesn't the bar have any responsibility in how much is served to their patrons?? She was wasted when she left the establishment. Especially a younger crowd...but I don't take this pub as a responsible one in that they don't request ID...glad they were shut down...and should remain closed forever. The owner should be charged with negligence. I know individuals consuming alcohol are ultimately responsible for their own actions, but establishments still have a level of responsibility. This bar was completely reckless. Nonetheless, these boys and young men are despicable and absolutely heartless, vile human beings. I would disown my own son if he pulled this garbage. "Verbal consent" goes right out the window when you're wasted, period. Side note, actually prefer this broadcast over L&C's typical posts because of no sponsorship plugs. Law & Crime, you really gotta scale that back. It's affecting the quality and likeness of your content.

I think they filmed her consenting because they knew it was wrong and that she was sky high on booze and might not see it the same in the morning. As for the man that was contesting the BAC score, some people handle things differently so just because he assumes her behaviour wound be xyz the fact I the score the variable is the behaviour of the person with that BAC score - it won't wash in court.

Yes, I get it, while perhaps not legally responsible those guys failed morally. That said, you should have mentioned at the end that people need to take responsibility for themselves as well. She was young but not a child. The events inside the car aside, questionable consent, what killed her was that she drunkenly walked into a moving car. Yes, sometimes victims are to blame for their plight and that should be acknowledged.

Every person I have talked to about this case feels they could have kept her alive that night
@randyvanarsdale18 ай бұрын
@3fn She asked to be dropped of which they did. It was not their responsibility to babysit her the rest of the night. You see a person stumbling down the street drunk from a bar, is it your personal responsibility to see they get home safely? Do you do that, go out of your way to protect every vunerable person you pass on the street? Ethically perhaps yes, legally no. They could have waited, made sure she got into her Uber but didn´t, not good guys. Are they responsible though for her stumbling drunk into a car after dropped her off? No. How many times have you waved goodbye to drunk friends after a bar or party and walk away, are they still your responsibility after you leave? There seems to be a trend today where everybody is a victim of somebody else and sometimes this is no doubt true. However people need to take resposibility for their own actions as well. The presenter blamed the guys and the bar for serving her but never said a word about her own responsibility for downing so many drinks which ultimately lead to her walking into traffic. That is drunken stupidity not culpable murder.

1. There is a delay. If she drank a lot shortly before her death, it wouldn't have quite hit her yet. Same goes for whatever other case you are referencing. 2. At a BAC above .3, people tend to be unable to stand or control urinary or bowel movements. A possible exception would be someone who has built up a crazy level of tolerance over an extended period. If Madison Brooks was one of those, then she wouldn't have appeared all that intoxicated to the men. The attorneys have a point.
