One of my favorite parts of the entire WoT series is when Moraine tells the story of the final battle and fall of Manetheren to the Emond's Field people after the attack of Winternight. The people were all arguing about why the Trollocs came. Some blamed the Aes Sedai, and some threatened to burn down the inn. Then Moraine quieted the entire mob by spinning her staff over her head with the one power glowing at each end. She told them of their ancestors and the great battle. She said the blood of Aemon runs deep in the Two Rivers people. It was such a chilling moment; I've reread those few pages so many times.

@edwardcorby4623 жыл бұрын
Definitely think that Eldrene actually died the same way Egwene did, using the Flame of Tar' Valon...
@michaelodonnell8242 жыл бұрын
There's also a possibility that Egwene is a reincarnation of Latra Posae Decume, the author of the Fateful Concord and, arguably, the woman most responsible for the taint on Saidin and the Breaking. Certainly, the way Egwene strenuously opposes Rand's plan to break the remaining seals at a certain time, seems like she is channelling her Second Age parallel.

The fact that Manetheren wasn't brought back by the end of the series still amazes me. I'm not the only one right? Andor treated the lands west of White Bridge as if they were in the end of the world and had barely any presence there, Altara fell under under Seanchan control but in KoD we are told that they barely have influence in the Northern parts of the country and Perrin basically already annexed Ghealdan. Does any one know if this was a decision made by Sanderson? Because i have the feeling that Perrin's story became kinda pointless after book 7 if it didn't end with him as king of Manetheren. His arc concludes with him accepting leadership and becoming lord of the TR but he had already been made lord in book 4 so it was all pointless. My personal theory is that Jordan intended to resurrect Manetheren but either changed his mind after publishing KoD and told Sanderson or he decided on his own that it should not be brought back. This could have happened if Elaine had grown more power hungry that Jordan had originaly intended and her accepting a part of her kingdom's independence was no longer believable, or maybe it was because Jordan was trying to make what would become Sanderson's books into a single book and thought that a Manetherenexit plot would take too long for a single book.

I strongly disagree. I like the fact it was left as this ancient lost city of Atlantis/Eden. A depiction of almost perfection, and enlightened society, now only spoken about around camp fires and folk tales
@sayres992 жыл бұрын
To be fair the Two Rivers is like its own country now. Like Puerto Rico they are technically a part of Andor but run themselves completely they don't pay taxes, they make their own laws, and they only have to send aid in a time of need. Perrin's official title is High Lord and that puts him above every noble house in both Candor and Carihien. The only person who can give him orders is Elayne. His wife Fiel at the end of MoL is next in line for the throne In Saldea so her and Perrin's children will rule there and Elaine wants to marry her Children off to Perrin's which would Unite the Two Rivers, Andorra, and Carihien into a single nation with close familal ties with Saldea. So I think one day the blood of Eamon and Eldreen will rule again and Manetheren could rise once more as the greatest and largest nation in the world.
@bsmnt233 жыл бұрын
Ok, THAT was cool; I've never seen a map of the world pre-breaking before. Wouldn't mind seeing an overlay of the entire world done so, but thanks for this. As far as spin-offs, I'd really rather the Trolloc Wars were told through a video game, maybe similar to that of the Total War series where you'd control one of the Ten nations against constant hoards of shadowspawn armies. Seems like it would be relatively easy to make and I'd play the hell out of a game like that. What do you think about the prospect of multi-media tie-ins to the WoT, like video or tabletop games?

Your whiteboard reminds me: I had a fan-fic theory back when I first read LoTR that the War Of The Ring was actually an excuse for Sauron to get to the Hobbits' "leaf". Gondor, Rohan, and the Elves blocked the trade of the plant. So, Sauron recruited Saruman, only to have him betray Sauron and try to take the crop for himself. A full-blown war ensued, Sauron was defeated, everyone got high again, and the rest is history.

head canon: The Skyrim songs (seriously) are a direct history of the third age. The wheel turns etc. Alduin is an iteration of the dark one, Dovakiin is Rand, the Tongues are the first practitioners of the WOT Tinker song. The Beauty of Dawn, Vokul Fen Mah, and the Tale of Tongues legit sound like they're singing about the Third Age.
