When she was in Ohio, she was married. After she was diagnosed yet again with cancer her husband left her a couple weeks later saying that HE couldn’t go through it again! She left Ohio for California, wanting to leave the heartbreak behind. Knowing this made me understand her lyrics and all she was battling even better. Simon Cowell paid for the best treatments for her. Her death devastated him. He had a very difficult time getting through his announcement on AGT that Nightbird had lost her cancer battle. She was a special soul and touched countless lives. What a beautiful example of facing extreme adversity with courage and grace. She is missed but never forgotten. A choir from South Africa honored her by singing ‘It’s Ok’ on AGT. Nightbird touched the lives of people around the world. She’s singing in heaven now…

Sebs, you HAVE TO watch The Mzansi Youth Choir comes on America's got talent. I think it was two or three years after Nightbirde passed away, and this youth choir in Africa came on america's got talent and sang her song. It showed exactly how far music can reach. Nightbirde was such a beautiful soul. And all she wanted to do was share her music. Her family released the full versions of her songs after she passed...just to carry on her wish of sharing her music with the world. Also, if you watch the video of Mzansi, please watch the judges reactions too. Simon, while Nightbirde was still alive, visited her several times. He visited her in the hospital. He became her friend. But what touched me the most was the statement "you can't wait until everything's okay before you decide to be happy". That says everything.

My sister died from breast cancer in Sept 2022. I think the "It's ok" of her song is that she's ok spiritually and has made peace with her situation. My sister was on her deathbed and I asked if I could have her hand to photograph holding mine(didn't want to take a pic of her in the bad shape she was in). She raised up slightly and shook her head saying, No, no, not the hand" Then laid back and chuckled. Still had her sense of humor. We are the ones needing the reassurance of "It's ok", not them.

Thank you, Bryce (hope I spelled that right). I watched both of my brothers battle a rare lung disease (both non-smokers) that ultimately led to their "graduating to Heaven." Both were 64 when they died two years apart. One of them had been diagnosed with with the lung disease (IP) at the age of 49. He underwent a double lung transplant at the age of 55, when he was told if there was no donor to match his lungs, he had less than 8 weeks to live. He went on to be a witness through the way he lived his life, as did my other brother. I can say that both had accepted their pending death but chose to live life and express gratitude to God for all He had given them. She reminds me of how my brothers lived.

I'm late in watching this reaction video. Firstly I watched her videos on her Facebook and socials until she got her wings. Such talent. Now please hear me. You need to enjoy what you do. Life is too short and tough enough already. I was a nurse. At age 47 i went in to respiratory failure. I was incubated. In a coma for 6 weeks. Resuscitated twice. In high dependency for 3 weeks then in rehab for 2 months where I had to learn to move my fingers, well just move, eat walk talk etc again. I did it and though I'm very sick still 2 yrs later. I have only 30% lung function, have doubled my weight due to medications, can't walk far, suffer severe neuropathy pain and other things, the list goes on. I can no longer work. But. I'm alive. I've got 6 wonderful grandkids and have turned 50. And it is Ok. There is so much to smile and laugh about. I've fallen and broken my tailbone. Only my sister was home. Her and I trying to get me up off the floor though frustrating was so comical we were rolling around laughing!! Oh it was painful and I'm not light nowadays and she has scoliosis of the spine, but we just laughed so hard we cried from laughter rather than the pain. It's all about how you look at it. God Bless x

I think she left her little mark on the world. Sure its a sad story but she had a fantastic outlook and a brave spirit to even get out there on stage and touch everyone in that crowd and watching at home the night that episode aired. If I am not mistaken "It's Ok" hit the charts the night it aired and she started selling songs on I tunes almost right away. She had recorded a bunch of songs like 2 albums worth and they are out there I know spotify still has her music posted. Not sure where the money goes but likely to her family and or some to cancer reseach which I think would be something she'd have wanted to help other folks if she could. She was a special soul in an ever darkening world and right now I think the world could use a few more NightBird's in it to touch us all like she did.
