this was such a fun watch lolol. loved it! you're right that braixen is such a varied character - i mean a lot of the cast varies with gameplay, but I feel like it's easiest to see in braixen players just how different she can be depending on who's hands she's in. and she's SO fun to fight?? i love the ditto 😭 i'm obviously biased though. can't believe there's people in our lord's year of 2021 who could still think she's a zoner but hey at least someone's out here fixing the misconceptions lol

it really is tragic how that evo grand finals probably drove so many players out of the game entirely but it doesn't help that pokken's support and advertising was... not great to say the least. thank god for DX lol.

A lot of the community definitely knows she's a zoner, this was to bring up the history before that was the case and help newer players or outsiders understand that she's more than just a zoner! A shame she might have caused that for Evo but an early meta is an early meta, and she still would be super strong if we were left with Wii U (though I don't think we'd ever have that happen). Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed!

When I first got into Pokken (very recently) I saw a guide that likens her to Akiha in Melty Blood so that's what drew me to her and I have to say the similarities are there.

My friend hates when play braixen mainly because while flamethrower is supposed to be an anti air it also works well against tall pokemon the have to get in close

I know I heard the position that braixen wasn’t a zoner but I never really understood why not until this video. Very informative! And also super fun to watch 😁

Happy to spread the word to why she's more than just a zoner! Glad you enjoyed!

I seem to notice that in every fighting game that I've played, I always end up playing characters a lot of people hate. I play Ness in Smash Bros., and anyone from the Smash community knows about how much he gets hated on.

I have played braixen since WII U and I was never good. I still am not. But, my dad, as a street fighter player, really helped me work on playing both styles fairly well. Other than that, I am still not good and could always use some better practice.

I play gengar with diglett and never had that much trouble against braixen but I guess I just never came scross someone that utilized her well

Wow you really hit it out of the park with the editing on this! Also there's a lot of interesting discussion to be had on why Pokkén never really *made it big* in turns of tournament turnout... There's definitely a lot to be said about that

Thanks, very happy you enjoyed! There's many more topics I'd love to do to talk about Pokken's history, and one about how it's tournament turnout would be interesting!

Even with the nerfs, Braxien is still an example of a character that is WAY too fucking overloaded for its own good. From having a good.... literally everything added on top of its signature ability to abuse support adding on TOP TOP of her being able to just "nuh-uh" all of my zoning using light screen as a Voir main makes it such a toxic experience to fight. Please give it weaknesses, it never made any sense to me why this thing has such a fearsome close combat game both mechanically and visually. Braxien to me has always come across as a zoner that is vulnerable in close quarter situations, I mean look at it, does it look like a brawler with such a small, skinny body with a little stick wand? Why do I have to go all that dreadful experience to get through its projectiles only to get overwhelmed by how fast, strong and safe its attacks are? Feels unfair imo.

When Pokken 2 comes out (And it fucking will, whenever i by a game the sequel for it ckmes out like a month later and my wallet wants to kill itself) i really hope it becomes more like Tekken, where they make Braixen a bit less stressful to play against and less... Well... Braixen...

i have to disagree. your main point is that the correct and better way to play braixen, isn't as a zoner but as a control charachter. this is correct, but the vast majority of people play braxien purely as a zoner. this isn't too bad because whimsicot, CADC, electrode, the jump button and etc, but for a newer player who is just starting braxien would seem completely unbeatable. this is terrible because it can make the game seem unfair to people who don't know how to fight those Side y projectiles. despite the fact the charachter has a massive skill ceiling in competitive play, you can harass anyone who is starting, just with SY and 4A. if they ever make a pokken 3, they should either nerf zoners slightly, to make the max projectiles on screen lower (kinda like darkrai can only set up one net at a time and only 2 traps that can be activated) or add a new part to the tutorial, explaining the strats to deal against these charachters.

I think it's an interesting discussion, but it is as you say: the vast majority of players play her as a zoner. But I would say this for a lot of players who don't play at a high level for any character in any fighting game, in that that would imply they aren't playing her the most optimal, or the most "correct". Players who are new will always struggle with projectiles in any fighting game, but if you have someone who competently can avoid that issue, then what would the Braixen player have afterward? They can't keep playing like a zoner, except in specific matchups like I mention in the video. They would need to use their other tools and adapt, to control the flow of battle with their other mechanics like support cancels and such. This video did not look into the beginner mindset, but instead the mid to high level mindset. People thinking she is only a zoner is the reason this video exists in the first place. Hope I explained that well enough!

So next we gonna say Chandelure is a footsie character right? While zoning is not the only thing Braixen does, many low rank to intermediate players will zone with her. Hell I have seen some go from space control to hard zoning once they lose two phases. I will always be biased against this character since she is only fun to watch in the hands of Shadowcat. Personally, Decidueye is MUCH more exciting to watch and I dislike that character too. Lastly, this video was hilarious and will love to see more like it even if they take a long time to produce.

"many low rank to intermediate players will zone with her" Then they'd be playing her wrong? I even mentioned in the video, many beginner players will use her thinking she zones, and I've been told stories of many people dropping her since she's actually very technical. They also nerfed her jY for a reason, because it meant back then, she would zone against over half the cast since it's so easy. Shadowcat is the best example since he's the one who's been consistently using her the most nowadays, but even before then (and even now), Double is the king for finding Braixen tech, with her supports and various setups. A_wild_gallade and Shippo have also used the character effectively that doesn't rely on zoning (heck, Gallade memes about Flame Charge, a rushdown and setup tool, more than anyone else lol). Don't know what Decidueye has to do with this, but coming in with a bias isn't the best when dissecting what a character is like imo. It's not about finding them fun to watch (and I also say "not for everyone" near the end of the video for both watching and playing against her). It's about what they are and the misconceptions surrounding her. The beginners/"intermediate" Braixen's who solely use Braixen are part of the reason this video was made (as well as outsiders who see her as a zoner too). Very glad you enjoyed the video! Hoping to make many more of these types of videos! I think I have an idea for my next Pokken History lesson!

In conclusion, Braixen is very annoying in Online battles because she only attacks at distance and when the opponent activate his burst it starts spamming Psybeam or Fire Blast and that really need to stop because that stupid
