And because it didnt happen... history was made and 3D animation became very accessible. Leading to many SFM masterpieces.

we love the SFM community for somehow making masterpieces from that buggy ass program

Apparentlty it's issues like this but ramped up to 11 that pretty much made it certain that any projects in collaboration with Valve aren't even worth it as soon as they actually have to do something. The Half life and portal movies have been in "developpement" for years, they even had an actor casted aq Freeman if certain sources are to be believed. However Valve was supposed to be in charge of writing the scripts and as you can imagine not a single line was even written down. Absolutely nothing. Another stomp from Valve is the cancelled hl2 episode 4 "Return to Ravenholm". Made by another studio with the approuval of Valve, they sended them a demo of what this could have been back in the days, rather confident in how things would turn out. They where never awnsered back.... Moral of the story? You cannot trust Valve as either a consumer or another studio, it's no surprises that there has been less collaborations over the years with only the occasional cosmetics or character.

I think they’re rly hard to work with yeah, they’re acquired some studios over the years recently and just abandoned them. Yeah return to ravenholm randomly got cancelled tht was a real kick int he balls for Arkane, the game looked so good as well. Valve are just better alone it seems

I remember Jerma , I think, talking about a tf2 movie of some kind back in 2013. So Expiration Date might have been it and the Adult Swim deal came along the way and the scope changed to a tv show. Judging by Expiration Date, the Tv show would have better worked in a 22 minute format rather than a 11 minute format.

Valve played around with the idea of movies for portal and half life, so I wouldn’t be surprised. Would’ve been really sick though I think TF2 best fits it
@davidsmhАй бұрын
do you have the video of jerma talking about that?
@theterribleclaw4285Ай бұрын
Well at least we have SFM's they're the closest thing to a TF2 TV Show that we have and I'm okay with that.
@AeroSourceGOATАй бұрын
yeah exactly, we’ve had some banger SFMs

Valve's unconventional methods of doing things at play, even though they do billionaire decisions they still are unconventional when compared to other companies.
@AeroSourceGOATАй бұрын
Very, they’re still sticking to their own ways

Sometimes i wonder why would a terrible show like Velma have 2 season while TF2 that ACTUALLY have a potential to be an awesome TV show was cancelled :'l
@AeroSourceGOATАй бұрын
Me too, I wish valve would do it themselbes that would be amazing
@BluestlarkАй бұрын
Something something valve came unprepared to do a TV show, tried to do it themselves instead of hiring another company, took to long Adult swim was dissapointed... History of Valve in a nutshell, has good idea, does not follow through.

I get pretty sad thinking about the missed potential and current abandonment of tf2. there will literally never be another game like it
@AeroSourceGOATАй бұрын
yeah, but at the same time, it’s going nowhere and we can always enjoy it. I feel like if they made a sequel or something people would hate how it feels compared to tf2.
