Undertaker has outright said the Cooperate Ministry is among his most disliked periods in WWE because he felt like the Undertaker character was just one of Vince's stodges. Looking back at this time period, I kinda feel like the original ministry of darkness was WWF's version of the dungeon of doom except done right: believable characters that were much more evil and sinister without the hokey gimmicks along and a bunch of Jobbers clogging up the stable. Later when they became "the corporate ministry", it suffered from nWo syndrome letting too many people in; fun times though and great video on both stables!

My thoughts exactly. DoD became mythical monsters on cheesy sets and fought against "Hulkamania" - and jobbed to the big yellow boots half the time. These guys came out looking like newly converted devil-worshippers covered in runes, even if the "kidnap and crucify" ritual was a little hokey. Basically, DoD was a monster flick and MoD was a slasher flick. That said, wouldn't it have been awesome if the higher power would've been Kevin Sullivan in full-on Satanic mode?

To be fair, he always showed hints of baddass biker Taker, as far back as 97. Then toward the end of the ministry deal he was in more normal clothes with shades, then they did the Kayfabe story of him becoming too wrapped up in a character he plays, even using his real name (Mark). So after he was gone a while, he basically was mentally stable and normal again. Since they wanted wrestling to be more realistic then.
@Cassandra_Solidor4 жыл бұрын
@@SilverWolf442 Actually, the main reason Biker Taker happened is Undertake seriously became disillusioned with the Deadman gimmick and wrestling in general. He nearly retired. Biker Taker was creative's way of letting him essentially be more like an exaggerated version of himself (much like Stone Cold was). They should have kept the two groups as separate entities, I liked the concept of having two factions fighting for control of the company and the Undertaker should not have a Higher Power, especially one whose ankle he broke 9 months prior. Vince was scared of the Undertaker in 1998, then the following year, he's genuflecting to him, it doesn't make sense. The Undertaker is a Higher Power. I find it funny how Stephanie was kidnapped and nearly sacrificed by a stable her father had been secretly in charged up from the beginning yet we were supposed to be mad at her when she "betrayed" Vince to side with Triple H.
@romanramirez78472 жыл бұрын
And even then, why would she side with Triple H? He helped Vince mess with her for months.

The only thing that didn’t make sense was that Big Bossman and Undertaker were now in the same heel group despite the latter almost, er, attempting murder on the former at Wrestlemania

I remember being so pissed off when they revealed the "Higher Power" Everyone thought they were going to bring in some big WCW wrestler, but no its just Vince.

The only reason it ended up being McMahon was because they couldn’t find anyone else to be the higher power lol They began the storyline before determining who the higher power would be.

I'm fairly new to your channel. I've probably seen only a handful of vids up until tonight when I noticed you did one about The Ministry Of Darkness (one of my favorite memories from back in the day 😁👍) so I just finished watching that vid and wow, you definitely did the story justice! So now it's on to "Part 2" with The Corporate Ministry being formed and I'm really looking forward to this. Thank you for all the hard work you do on your videos. Wanted to make sure I let you know that it's much appreciated!😀

At 30:08 one of the coolest poses from that faction and at 30:37 Taker looks like DC'S Darkseid. Cool video review and lots of memories of the WWF Attitude Era especially with the Cororate Ministries and the Unholy Alliance. Still to this day i always say that Taker and Big Show were a dominant team if Kane was to be a part of that team all three would have dominated the entire WWF roster, Taker as the WWF heavy weight champion with Show and Kane as tag team champions.

A lot of people think the Ministry angle got ruined by merging with Corporation, but honestly I think it was easily salvageable (they just needed to have Shane be less of the mouthpiece as it seemed odd for Taker like you mentioned). The problem is they shot themselves in the foot by saying there was a higher power to begin with. No reveal was going to do the angle justice, and then they pick the worst case scenario with the Vince swerve. They should've just kept it moving with Taker and Shane doing a hostile takeover.
