@DiamondAircraftind - Please keep up with your KZbin audience comments. We are very impressed with the DA62, you've done a tremendous job bringing a lot of information and education. However, some of us still have questions. I am seeing a lot of unanswered questions similar to the ones I have. Don't let a great PR video be marred by a post and forget process on a social media platform. If the video was not on a social media site, that would be understandable, but you have an opportunity to connect here on KZbin with potential customers. If you post and forget, and then don't respond to questions here where many of us first learn about the company and the DA62, why should we be encouraged to believe customer service off of KZbin would be superior? Food for thought. Thank you again for an excellent video.

The DA62 is a stunning aircraft and Id love to own one, but as with all new GA aircraft, their inflated prices are just too high for the vast majority of GA pilots out there. It’s a shame because I’d love to own one, but I don’t think I’d ever be able to afford one.
@wylieecoyote2 жыл бұрын
Their liability insurance is responsible for a significant amount. My understanding is that every airplane built has its own policy to cover the manufacturers liability for a set period of time. Until we get some kind of insurance reform we will not have better prices. The paperwork and certification is also a big part of the expense. The components themselves are not very expensive.

Also noticing that in engine out config you still limit the operating engine to 80%. I know that 100% is limited to 5 minutes (yes?) and then only on takeoff. That you have some climb ability at 80% on the good engine speaks volumes for this magnificent airplane. I’ll own one in my next life, and for now, enjoy “flying” it in X-Plane, the desktop simulator program!

It's funny how I had been watching some fairly random KZbin video and this popped into my feed - and I ended up watching the entire thing. That obviously says a lot for your production company, but also for the time spent choosing and briefing them, which in turn says a lot for the depth of quality management throughout the company. Good management shows through in everything: I assume that you have a happy workforce who feel valued, from the top to the bottom. It's inspirational to see. I'm not a pilot, 'though I've flown light aircraft, and I have genuinely often wondered why they weren't built like F1 monocoque cars and I had assumed there was a solid reason. Seems I was wrong: guess I missed a business opportunity.

Ok, the JetA is cheap, (19:00 or so) but in terms of the cost of an hour burning holes in the sky one has to always factor in things like annual inspections and the eventual overhaul of two engines. Given their complexity, newness and that not a lot of A&Ps are going to be Diamond-fluent means taking the 62 to the right A&P. And it’s still going to cost something, something big, even for those who can pay cash for a new 62!

dumb question: Why do both props rotate in the same direction? Are the axial forces additive? If they turned in opposite directions, would the gyroscopic forces cancel out and provide better stability? Maybe the mass of the props is so small that the benefit or cost is trivial?

Is the DA62 aerobatic capable? I am looking forward to a checkride in one of these this summer. When I was younger and starting lessons, though I flew on Dad's lap at 4 years old, back around 1959, I started taking aerobatics at 16. Now in my mid 60s, I am getting back into general aviation and thinking of a twin rating. Though I have flown numerous twins back in the day, I was never certified. Senecas and other related. I disagree with you. Today's companies are so PR oriented that, if you want to see new things happen, you need to poke them PR wise. The "GA Critics" knows how to do it and it might be the thing Cessna, Beech or Piper needed to make the jump into the 21st Century engine wise : JetA for all :)
