Thank you everyone for the support that you have been giving to this video. most of you have noticed that audio is cut at some parts of the video, the reason of that is KZbin's copyright system, they were giving me Copyright strikes which was blocking the video from being published, I tried a lot of things, editing them out, but after uploading a new edited version, they would give me the new Copyright strikes so, cutting them was the only way for me to actually upload the video, I will try my max in future to avoid this kind of problems.

As a United fan i adored Cantona, he was the most magnificent player I’ve ever seen play in a united shirt and that still stands to this day. He changed English football forever and all i knew when he retired at 30 to play beach football and make movies I was heart broken, he was so special and there was only one player who was better than him and he too was a Frenchman, that was Zidane, there’s no higher accolade i could possibly bestow upon him.
@GeeseHАй бұрын
Remember the first time I saw Cantona but the commentators were only talking about Deschamps, I was like 'Are they not seeing what I'm seeing?'
@MrMrnice1983Ай бұрын
If they were English they'd play together every game no matter how much it didn't work. France won the u21 world cup with Cantona and papin I think. But Cantona was nowhere for ages, him and Ginola looked amazing in the premiership so seemed mad they couldn't get into the team. But Zidane, macalali, petit, Deschamps etc is a solid midfield. Cantona would have to replace Henry or someone else up front.

I don't support man utd I'm a Coventry fan but loved Cantona. Saw his last game I think (David bust testimonial) and he played with gazza, man utd played their first team for the first half (scoles , Beckham, Keane) and Eric stayed on for the whole game because he knew it was his last but no-one else did. He's just a cool geezer, him and Beckham were surprisingly hard looking in real life, Keane and scoles really small.

I'll probably never forget how he retired down that tunnel, all alone. But very quickly after that I had peace with it. Zidane had been such a unique player, of course he was going to retire in a unique way. I'm also not French so that also helped massively ;) I believe the general consensus was at the time that Materazzi was calling Zidane's sister some not so nice things, which earned him the headbutt. You have to also consider that Materazzi was one of the best defenders but also a very nasty one, very adept at fouling players just out of sight of the referee, which made many people dislike him. I believe he had the nickname "razor". I mean, I shouldn't have, but I was celebrating that move.

To have seen him play twice, but unfortunately only for charity games, I recall the reactions of the crowd when he was, so poetically and elegantly controlling the ball like it was sticking to his foot and then make moves that would make him pass so many opponents before sending a sniper-precision pass. Messi is the best ever hands down. Messi is the best dribbler, scorer and a great passer cause he can scan the whole field while also keeping the ball glued to his foot going through 4 or 5 defenders. Good vid but 2 things are not correct. First one, zidane stopped his international career after euro 04, when he reconsidered and came back (with thuram and makelele, who he convinced to come back with him), everybody in France wanted him back, nobody criticized the fact he was in for the WC 06. Secondly, even if we were frustrated after the final, nobody really criticized zidane durably in France. He remains an icon here, period.

I remember sooo well the first months of Zidane in Turin. His moves looked puma smooth but awkwardly slow, and meanwhile his feet, both of em, looked as sensitive as hands, both fleeced and silky smooth, all the rest looked just weird. He didn't shoot the ball nor make important plays, he didn't look as having the speed or endurance to make it at the highest level. But the way he could keep the ball safe from defenders was mysterious. I never saw before, and probably after, someone dribbling without really moving, just pivoting and dribbling basically on the spot. He was mesmerizing and addictive to watch, even if it wasn't totally clear why. He made good choices on a regular basis but due to lack of knowledge of both teammates and playing system he also made a lot of mistimed passes and turnovers. He wasn't producing very much on both offense and defense. Nonetheless he was always in Lippi's starting 11. After 5 or 6 months like this Lippi had a private talk with him, to convince him that he had Lippi's unconditioned trust. So from that point on he should just have focused on playing football, HIS football, and stop being concerned about mistakes or bad press. The rest is history.

Great career summary. By the way, that "los blancos" nickname is something you can rarely hear in Spain to refer to Real Madrid. Sounds quite odd to anyone familiar with Real Madrid in Spain. Maybe in some newspaper match chronicles you can read "los blancos" (the whites) but not in spoken language. Quite often commentators might call "el equipo blanco" (the white team) or "el equipo merengue" (the meringue team) or simply and more rarely these days "los merengues" (the meringues). Guys outside Spain often strugle with the idea. I don't know if it comes from Wikipedia or something. The proper way to call Real Madrid is simply "El Madrid" a way used 99% of the time. Real Madrid fans are called sometimes "merengón" (singular) "merengones" (plural) by rivals and often by Madrid supporters themselves. Rivals in a friendly mocking way and fans in proud fashion. Hope it helps. Thanks for the video.
