McTigue97 that would have been LEGENDARY. Speaking of, besides the later issues with the arrows, Rosberg was consistently fighting for podiums. I’m seeing more and more Lewis’s move to Merc really wasn’t that crazy. I think Schumi’s underperformance diluted the car. Idk, I mean look at Nico in 2012, the car was there a lot. And now that I’m basically done with 2010, it was even better then. Do you think Hamilton’s move was a surprise?

@@CYMotorsport Schumacher's underperformance? I don't think you saw the season, Schumacher qualified 4th in Australia and ran 3rd until the gearbox failed, qualified 3rd in Malaysia, pole in Monaco, podium in Valencia, qualified 2 tenths off pole at Silverstone for 3rd, qualified 4th in Germany, qualified 4th at Monza, ran up the front fighting for the podium majority of the race in Spa with Raikkonen and Vettel, qualified 6th in Austin when the car was absolutely dreadful. The only time Rosberg had the edge was China, and when he got promoted by Schumacher's penalty in Monaco, Rosberg never ran near the front in 2012, where as if you look back at the majority of races, Schumacher was generally always fighting the front guys who were in superior cars. Schumacher just didn't finish much races because of the poor reliability of his car, and the crash that cost him pole in Monaco. Where on earth have you seen Rosberg fighting for consistent podiums in 2012? Are you sure you actually saw the season?

He lost further points by being rammed by Maldonado and Grosjean in Valencia and Spa. The season where ALL the champions from the millenium, were present: Schumacher: 00-04 Alonso: 05-06 Kimi: 07 Hamilton: 08 - 14-15 - 17-19 Button: 09 Vettel: 10-13 Rosberg: 16 7 different winners in the first 7 races. 8 different drivers and 6 different teams won races. Midfield teams were fighting for wins and got podiums. A Battle down to the last race between Alonso and Vettel with even more drama to add to it in Brazil. A lot of exciting races. Michael's last pole and podium. A grid of 24 cars and drivers and probably the best grid in terms of talented drivers in the history of F1. This is definitely the best season I've seen in F1. With 2010-2003-2008-2007 up there. The V8 era, from 2006 until 2013 provided amongst the best seasons in F1. It would've been perfection in my book if we had those thunderous V10s in those cars instead. Although those V8s were still insane. The V6T(H) provides the worst seasons for sure. 2017 and 2018 could've been up there but... A competitive mid-field doesn't compare with competion at the top. EDIT: Also that 2012 McLaren is probably the most beautiful F1 car I've laid eyes on. I'm not a particular fan of old F1s from 90s and below, the 02 to the 2013 cars are more my appeal.

Wow, great video. The last great season we’ve had in F1. Wonder if we’ll ever get to see a season with so many talented drivers, from many different teams, and all being possible champion contenders.

I think 2021 is the goal to create that. i just think they missed it with technical regulations seeeminly too focused on aesthetics. i'm stoked to do a 2021 in depth breakdown. but it's very very complicated haha coming soon

All hail the season which i think is the reason that most fans have nostalgia. Love the video, I'm surprised that you didnt mention schumacher's horrendous luck(5 dnfs in the first 7 races), although his second career wasnt what i or probably even he hoped for, I was glad to see him back. #KeepFightingMichael

thanks for the feedback! you're correct I did drop the ball honestly on Michael. I couldn't help but wanted to steer clear of that considering it didn't really play out in the main storyline as the Merc at that point was strong but wasn't a title contender and Nico had some poor luck too. while I try to be objective to a fault, I find myself shying away from Michael's late, unflattering moments or even unrelated but tragic things like Jules still. I don't know why, I shouldn't - probably a memory thing. But the merc's overall were in the hunt and then struggled to score the rest of the season. but yeah this season really gave me all the feels haha

@@Sn1zzle Schumacher had mediocre teammates. Really bad for a world champion. And losing to Nico after you beat him 3 seasons in a row isn't the embarrassment you think it is. The same Nico beat Schumacher for 3 years in a row from 2010-2012. And Schumacher was the same age Alonso was now. So the age excuse doesn't hold. Hamilton was considered one of the fastest drivers and best natural talent on the grid. That is why Niki Lauda and Ross Brawn begged him to come to Mercedes and take Schumacher's seat. But I guess you know talent and greatness better than them.

SO GOOD! I know this was a great season but I could watch something like this for all the F1 seasons. Certainly a lot better then the BBC F1 year in review shows. This opened my eyes a little about Checo. I always thought he got to F1 because of Carlos Slimm. I don't know if he deserved the seat, but at least he had some results. I'd love to get your take on guys like Checo and Lance Stroll.
@CYMotorsport5 жыл бұрын
I'm a big time Checo supporter. he's the most underrated driver on the grid IMO. I'm of the opinion lance has decent race craft/pace and finds the rhythm really, really well but his technical driving over 1 lap could use some work. can't call that lack of experience really either. I mean, he's quick enough to be in F1. he may not be quick enough outright for racing point but it doesn't help he has one of the most solid performers pound for pound next to him. what about you? thank you for the feedback! much appreciated and looking forward to making more!

Very under rated... 8 podiums in his career with Sauber and Force India. He shines when he wants to
@CYMotorsport5 жыл бұрын
Robert Zeigler that’s why I think the fight at Renault next year is going to be interesting. I personally think ocon is very overrated. I know he was better in quali against checo the second year but I care most about race craft. And not to be the contrarian, but I felt the same amount ricciardo. The year he beat Seb I think the car had championship fight in it but lack of development and focus on downforce killed it by the time kvyat got there. At first I was confused why sergio hitched his wagon to RP but it’s pretty smart. He’s like basically guaranteed to never lose his seat so long as stroll is there. Have you seen the Aston Martin / stroll news? Think there’s anything there with maybe stroll trying to squeeze lance next to Max by potentially taking a major stake in Aston Martin? Or maybe he just likes burning cash on F1 haha idk on this one

@@CYMotorsport I've been crossing the border from San Diego to Tijuana to run my manufacturing business for the past 23 years. My gringo friends always say Checo is only in an F1 seat because of Carlos Slimm. My Mexican friends say, put him in the Merc or Ferrari seat and he'll be a champion. Short of the top 2-3 players on Mexicos national soccer team, Checo is the most popular sports figure in Mexico. I fell somewhere in the middle, but he got an upgrade in my eyes after seeing your video. Not much doubt he's earned the seat. Netflix certainly didn't make him look good. BTW, I went to Mexico City this year for the GP. I've been to Super Bowls, World Series, NBA finals and a Stanley Cup Final. The Mexican Grand Prix was the craziest sports event I've ever attended. It seemed like every kid (and female) was wearing something with "Checo" on it.
@CYMotorsport5 жыл бұрын
@@jeffbock2793 yesss love hearing that story! thank you for sharing. It's tricky with Slim. such a great question - here's how I kind of view it. This case is clear cut in in one way - he had support but you can only hide behind the "support" argument for so long. but name a driver who didn't get financial backing? non magnet route drivers who came from south america and north america or the likes of Australia have to get their support by non-traditional means. he was in drivers programs but it takes a little extra to get to europe, IMO. So you'd have a fair argument before F1 but I still think every driver got that... and needs that. If they didn't, it's because they were embedded early. Lewis got millions worth of pure support from age 8 on from McLaren. but when it comes from Dennis's pockets, it doesn't sound odd. But the second you say Telmex, sure I do get that. But when he got to F1, support doesn't win you races unless you oodles of cash dumping into the team. even then, still doesn't get results always. ask Stroll. Or soon to be Latifi. Checo has scored in the top 10 of the championship every single year less 1 his rookie year and the season from hell for Mclaren where he got P11. He's been best of the rest 2x with a Force India car and has broken 100 points twice. if you put him in a Ferrari, he'd mount a better challenge than we see now arguably. I feel like Mexican supporters may appear biased but they likely see through the backing story with rosy eyes while your gringo friends think backing = lance stroll. Checo is very different.

I remember this season all to well. Thank you for making this video. Although I was an Alonso fan and thus it was uncomfortable to watch during the end (mid-season I was joking that Alonso had to have some problems for the season to get interesting again and for others even to have a chance - which unfortunately then it did happen), I still have to say that it was one of the best F1 seasons not only for me personally, but probably ever. Also really supported Schumacher this season, so happy to see his pseudo-pole and especially his podium. Alonso basically missing two races and only losing the championship by 3 points? His best season IMO. It was a memorable time, that year.
@OnlineHipHopTV2 жыл бұрын
Its odd because if FIA took points away for the illegal parts on the Red Bull then Alonso wouldve won. Not saying the FIA was biased but it was an odd decision to let them keep the points. Alonso has been very unlucky. Missing 3 out on championships by just a few points.
