Ohhhh WONDERFUL WONDERFUL Carel... another marvellous choice of subject and another outstanding and fascinating video. I've never thought of going to the Old Masters Gallery in Dresden but after listening to you here, and just glancing an eye over their collection.... WOOWWWW!!! Now I really really wanna go!!! What a treat it would be to see such a museum with YOU, Carel... I am certainly looking forward to the pleasure of visiting a museum with you next time I'm in your neck of the woods, OR if you ever happen to come to Paris !!!!

Maybe Raphael had a sense of humor, so added the little bored angels.

I agree. He definitely had a sense of humour, and it is surprising that he used it here

Hello,Carol. Thank You again for sharing your knowledge, very, very interesting! Related to this video I have a question: Why one of the angels has only one wing ? With absolute pleasure I will re- listen again this one - maybe I missed information about that.. Thank You, again.

This is just Act 1 of the play that Raphael was attempting to convey. Here's another example, by Leonardo kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYTFl6yAh7Ghla8 [will you ever be the same again?].

I love to look at most of Raphael’s paintings and drawings, but the Sistine Madonna is disturbing to me on a deeply emotional level. I see dread in the faces of Mary and Jesus. Do they know what is coming for him?

That is a good question. very often, when we see the Virgin and Child depicted, there is some reference to the crucifixion there as well. But in this case they are in heaven, so it has already taken place, but he is also a child, so it must happen in some sort of future?
