I"m bummed that Carel hasn't put anything up on youtube lately. I appreciate his knowledge and I''ve learned a lot from his information of each work of art he has commented on- many of which I have made trips to see. But I don't know anything about instagram or care about facebook, so I guess I'll have to plod on without Carel's excellent insights. :(

Of ALL I've seen on this Portrait...NO 1 has picked up on the fact, that she is wearing..A BELT...IF she Was Pregnant, she would Not be wearing a leather belt. Nor Does she have the increasing bust of a pregnant woman. Looking at the Large pile of clothe on the floor, pulling up All that Heavy clothe, to give a look at .."see all the fur lining my skirts(s)" , as u can also see a blue skirt underneath. That WOULD make a LARGE bulk in front of her. Plus the large elaborate bed behind them also would have spoken of their wealth. The Oranges, would they not have been available Only to the wealthy that could afford "Orangeries" to grow them in?

It is truly the most extraordinary experience, to see the human condition expressed in such a way is beyond words ,the beauty is beyond words, Mary is young looks the same age as her Son it's as if she knows her destiny is to lose him

How I miss your precious videos, I'm reading the divine comedy and I found myself thinking how I would like to hear you talk about some works in museums that were inspired by Dante, or talk about Gustav Dore or William Blake. I learn so much from you, here are my humble suggestions, but above all, thank you very much because for your content.

Here's a video I made of my interpretation of the great Italian 15th century painter Paolo Veronese's masterpiece "NOZZE DI CANA" that you inquired about on my brochure. Veronese's original painting is a sublime and massive (6.77 m × 9.94 m (267 in × 391 in) canvas that was painted in 1563 during the Renaissance. The French under the command of the young Napoleon Bonaparte, tore the artwork from the wall of the monastery of San Giorgio Maggiore in 1797 as part of their plunder of Venice. The painting is now housed in the Louvre Museum where it keeps company in the same grand exhibition hall as the Mona Lisa. I put together a short slide show of my creation of "NOZZE DI CANA" ( 80" x 55" oil on linen, price upon request) that I think you will enjoy. I also perform the music: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5WTlqqEmq14rbc CIAO! Tony www.tonygreen.net

This robbery was the same as when 'The Concert' by Johannes Vermeer was taken. A mention from my first novel. Yet to be found (tho a different end for the Vermeer). At the time of publication, there were 2 prisoners who claimed they knew the whereabouts of the Vermeer but those claims were unsubstantiated. Caused a lot of stir, however.

I could hug you!!! It drives me insane that so many "art historians" refer to Waterhouse as a Pre-Raphaelite!!! His manner of painting is the direct opposite of theirs. What are they thinking of? Are they blind???? I must add, though, that the majority of Waterhouse's paintings have classical subject matter, not medieval. He was a true academic painter, albeit one of the most brushstroke-y.

Why would you compare Fra Angelico's Annunciation -- with is tempera on wet plaster in a discussion on oil painting by Jan van Eyck. It's beyond apples and oranges It's idiotic. It is like comparing Dante Alighieri to Luther.

The wealthy Canon suffered from polymyalgia rheumatica, giant cell arteritis, which is evident in the bulging arteries on his temple, and the obviously stiff neck. It's a genetic disease that is common amongst Scandinavian heritage people. Today, it's easily treated with steroids. People suffering with it have cluster headaches, blurred vision, sore and stiff joints, and suffer a great deal.

I was 12 when I first saw it, tbh I was bored at the museum because I wasn’t really interested in art at the time, but when I saw that painting… I stood there for like 20 minutes completely mesmerized. I don’t know how to describe the feeling, but I felt so connected. What a wonderful story!! (And wonderfully taught)
