For those who discovered Phil X during the FrettedAmericana /early Drills days this is THE Phil X guitar. It's a HUGE deal that you're giving it away. Those frettedamericana / rockynash videos shaped a whole generation of kids into your fans. Plus, that guitar isn't being made any longer. Back then you could buy one of those (I remember they weren't at all unaffordable), remove the pickups, put a p94 in the bridge, plug it into a Bad Monkey (and then into an Evil Robot if you were fancy) and play pretend to be Phil X. Wait. Why am I writing like this was a long time ago!? 😅 If only ESP knew what was coming down the pipeline with Bon Jovi. Maybe they would've agreed to build a version of the Vyper with just one pickup and a bigger neck 😂 Whoever wins this *please* take good care of it. 🙏💕 PS the intro to Wonderful World by Powder is one of my favorite dittys to play on guitar.

Love the theory of the pickup on the neck distracting from the ultimate bridge pickup tone. It makes sense that the magnets have an impact regardless if it’s engaged or not. Thanks for that!

man, seeing this guitar predates my own guitar playing history. Still till this day i watch the old PHIL X JAMS videos. Still got the Bebot app on my phone and I still smile when I see you play the Zeppelin/acdc medley. Fkn piece of history that thing. Id definitely play it live if it were to be mine.

Phil, can i just say i have a great memory of you in manchester, england, i dont know if you remember me, but i came to both dorje tours, the first time i asked you to sign my les paul custom and you really didnt want to damage the finish id worked on polishing etc, you ended up taking pictures, the second time i came to see you was at manchester academy, id built a replica of your sticker guitar with a custom pickup of my own making, both rob chapman and yourself seemed more than impressed with it (id finished finishing the neck the morning of the show), and what impressed me was how humble you were, you saw the effort id put in and let me tell you about what id done, and the first show with my les paul (im the one with the white les paul custom on that picture with 3 other fans you posted all the way back then), you absolutely loved it (its the samick era epiphone), it just amazed me that no matter what was going on, you saw that i was a fan and you took time out of your day to make sure i got to meet you and have a chat even if only for a few minutes, and that meant so much to me to this day, your on stage antics with the drills always had me laughing, and i still remember something you did on stage , detuning and tuning back to pitch to near precision! Wonder if you remember me? would be pretty cool if you actually did :D

You are correct about the neck pickup sucking the vibration out of the strings with its magnetism. Just turning off the neck pickup will not give you the same sound as no neck pickup at all. Leslie West removed his neck pickup on his Gibson Flying V and referred to the empty neck rout as "The ashtray".

Phil, Your video with a single pickup Junior on Fretted Americana years ago convinced me to get a Junior-style setup. Glad I did. That guitar made me a better player. Now the most common guitar style in my fleet are Juniors/Esquires in all the regular guitar shapes Tele, Strat, Jazzmaster, and LP; various brands and from-raw-lumber builds. You'll miss the Sticker Guitar when it's gone, but make new stories with the next one!
