The Story of Trails - Tio Plato
The Story of Trails Series is finally moving to Crossbell, a series that many consider to be their favourite of the lot! We’ll be starting this series with the silent genius and fan favourite, Tio Plato.
The story of Tio is as you would expect from Trails, gut-wrenching. Taken away from her home at a young age and subsequently returned to them only to find she no longer fit in with everydayl life, Tio lives most of her childhood without the love and support of a family.
However, events coalesce in a way whereby she joins a freshly made detective group in Crossbell, the Special Support Section. Together with the SSS, she and the other members break down barrier after barrier of adversity in the State, until they finally find the festering truth beneath the surface.
Tio herself becomes an integral and important member to this team, and one could say she has finally found her true home and family as a result of this. As she supports her close friends, and they support her back, the interactions between the SSS make them one of the most beloved groups of characters in the Trails Universe, and Tio is understandably included in that.
In light of this brilliant character, today in our ‘The Story of Trails’ series we’ll be delving into the background of Tio Plato, and recounting her steps through the Trails Universe. So sit back, relax, and let’s enjoy another dose of Trails Series lore!

I still can't fathom how her binding event is a bonding event and not a normal event in the game It literally takes Tio from a great character to an S tier character and should not be locked away behind a limited bonding event Great video as always, kitsune must especially be very pleased with this

If the man himself enjoys this video, then it's a success! I agree as well, the final bonding event at the end of Ao felt really important. It's not just Tio, loads of the other characters got the same treatment, and I felt it was important to have that scene for pretty much all of them.

I agree SO much. Trails is my favorite video game series of all time - by a country mile - but Trails in the Sky sits as my absolute favorite for this very reason specifically. None of its key story content was gated behind multiple playthroughs or save scumming and resetting (this is what I do) to experience it all. Cold Steel does it worse, but Zero/Ao sowed some of the seeds. This series shouldn't try to be a Persona clone. It's *better* than persona, and your main character is not a self-insert here. So it really pains me that it seems the game - more and more - insists to go down this route where some of the absolute best content that it has on offer is gated behind optional and limited bonding events. Bummer.

For real, but I don't even think Tio's bonding event was even the worst of it. Wazy and Rixia's bonding events felt extremely important to their character arcs and Randy further expanded on why he quit being a jaeger. Elie's was probably the least necessary one since it only really expanded on the romance aspect.

EDIT - I realise I screwed up on the first few dates, and I have no idea how I've managed to not see it! That's what I get for being a 90's kid! So the date's SHOULD be: 1190 - birth 1195 - Cult 1198 - Rescue Managed to get this one out a bit before earlier than I originally scheduled! The Story of Trails Series is finally moving to Crossbell, where we're starting with a fan favourite of the SSS, Tio Plato! As many other characters in Trails, Tio has a tragic backstory, losing the love of her family early on. Tio is definitely up there when it comes to my favorite characters of Crossbell and Trails overall! Her growth and development is basically on par with that of Renne imo. They both have come such a long way and I'm glad the both of them were able to find love and support in their lives.

I think it's awesome how her growth is so different from Rennes. Obviously Renne became vengeful, Tio on the other hand simply lost all feeling. It's great that despite having different paths, they still ended up with the same kind of ending.

Azure spoilers. I always found it a cool and shocking revelation of what the intro we saw in Zero was and meant. Why weren't Estelle and Joshua present in it like they are when we play the dungeon in the late game. I always thought it was a game reason to not spoil their presence that early, but no. We were playing the timeline the SSS gang weren't good friends with them, a timeline the gang died in, and the one the player experiences is a different one where they are joined by Estelle and Joshua, and Renne to save them from dying. Thinking of the development and moments Tio experiences after Joachim's death in the new timeline, it makes me sad how in the original timeline, she and the SSS gang failed to overcome the barrier and died. How Tio's overall life was cut short by the hands of a monster, never being able to become the character we see in the Cold Steel arc and Reverie. She is an awesome character, one of the best written ones I saw in gaming to be honest, and its cool to see that, despite her past, she found happiness.

8:13 Out of all she was saying about her past, this line didn't really surprise me, because excessive trauma often leads to your emotions becoming numb. The rest of it made me respect her about 250% more (Takes a lot of guts to talk about a past which near enough scarred you)

Nope I've had a look at it again, you're right. I don't even know how I missed that! Yes, it's 1190 S.C when she's born (I think I got it in my head that i was 1990 since I was also born in the 90's and I use that as a marker for events!)

And this hasn't really been much of a problem (like for the Aureole vid it was obvious this would be a Sky FC - 3rd spoiler), but for example with this video: Will it spoil anything in Cold Steel? I'm not sure whether to watch it (finishing CS3 now).
