Well I started listening to them 40 years ago, when I was in the Royal Navy. They always took me home, where ever I was in the World. I never got the chance to see them live, but I think I've got most of their albums. When I heard it was the end, I was gutted and tried to find a ticket for Edinburgh, but they''re all gone. I live in Wales now, but I would have taken the high road to see them, even though money is tight. They are the Best Scottish Band of all time in my teary eyes. The album captures everything so well and hats off to Brian as he's captured this so well and of course praise all round to everyone. Perhaps I will just have to take the memories of listening to my grave and accept that sometimes, some dreams never get realised. I'll miss you Runrig!!! Thanks for the memories and the Journey.

The perfect way to end things. They've given so much listening pleasure over forty years. All good things must come to an end. They are going out on the high note instead of fading away. I think the video does indeed tell the story. They didn't sell out and stuck true to their roots. That's how they should be remembered. There is, and no other band like them. But we have the songs and in them they will live on. Thank you Runrig for the pleasure.

I grew up visiting close family friends from Fife in the summer of the 70's & 80's, and spent several years in the 90’s living in the remote Shetland Islands. My first 'serious' girlfriend, and good friend today introduce me to Runrig in the mid-80's and I have been hooked ever since. While I cannot speak Gaelic I can sing along with most of their Gaelic tracks. It was with so much sadness I that I heard this would be their last ever album; it is like dealing with a close relative diagnosed with a terminal illness. No matter how hard you try, you cannot wish it away. “The Story” is classic Runrig through & through. They know exactly how to play to your heart strings and stir up emotions, locked deeply away; some, in my case, for many years. Malcolm Jones on electric guitar, Iain Bayne with the drum beat, the lyrics, with Rory singing his heart out; I have to work hard not to break out in tears. For myself, I just replace ‘Hebrides’ with ‘Fife’ or ‘Shetland, and it could almost be me in the video. While I cannot wait till January for the album to become available. I am still in denial that after 40+ years the guys want to call it quits. But you cannot begrudge them some time off with family.

No the same world today is it?

Listening and watching this yet again, it's brilliant. The songwriting, the performance of the band. And this video. In an age when music videos are stupid, overly contrived in an attempt to be different...this one is creative, sophisticated, romantic, sensitive, amazing.

I remember racing home from my offshore job in Germany to tell my grandma the new album had been released. Id been listening ot them since i was just a young boy with her, and at 37 now i still listen to Runrig Daily. I new this was the final album, the song titles and temprement of songs, i felt it. In 2019 my grandma passed away and we played this at her funeral. Ill listen to this when i need to feel close to her. Grandmas truly are a blessing.

Love this song. From that very first high opening vocal note by Rory Macdonald, it had me. The song just soars. The tempo changes and constant building; Rory's heartfelt and haunting vocals; it just sweeps you in and along. Just like the opening sentence in an exquisite Story. And really like how the video ends with the "older man" suspended in air in the "early years".

Such a shame but it's fair enough they had to end :( Will however be Rory's 70th by the 27th July next year it's amazing what he and his brother have done and Malc to a massive extent! Big time supporter of Runrig though English born (why I use the Scots flag as well I think its beautiful personally speaking anyway) but have huge Scottish and relatively recent ancestry and really love it to bits, without them wouldn't have had such an interest and can thoroughly say been a constant fan of theirs since I started and if it had been back in the days of Donnie I'd have probably from then on but never got into them until Bruce started, never even heard of them to be blunt! Wouldn't have had it any other way apart from maybe seeing them pre Bruce but hey whatever!
