That’s pretty helpful. I like listening to your take on storytelling on here. As for why I clicked on the video, I’ve been playing around with a couple stories I’ve wanted to tell on KZbin for a while. Since you asked at the end, I’ll put one unscripted below, though I’ve got a lot of thoughts on what to include and what to leave out. I’m thinking of painting it. The main story started when I was a kid. I remember watching next top model and all these shows, and Tyra called out a girl that I thought was beautiful and thin for being a bigger girl. It changed my brain chemistry, and by third grade, I thought I was too big and constantly was thinking about how to take off weight even though I really needed that baby fat - I was constantly sick. At the same time, my church had this yearly ceremony that haunted me. The graduating seniors of every year were brought onstage while pictures their families chose were projected up high with the worst pictures imaginable. There were diaper photos, toilet photos, babies smeared with food, teenagers with their hair unbrushed or in the most embarrassing of outfits - truly the most embarrassing moments of a teenager’s childhood flung up for everyone to laugh at when they’re supposed to feel accomplished and proud. My awful view of myself made photos unbearable even when they were decent photos. These photos, though? They terrified me, especially as my mother photographed every outing, every tear, every embarrassing moment, and every single time I felt bad about myself unknowingly. So I prayed. Almost every day for a decade, I prayed and prayed that my photos would never grace that screen. And they didn’t. Because the week of my graduation ceremony, lightning struck the church. The electricity was completely down. The pastor gave us a call to let us know that they’d be able to get the sound system up for worship, but all the projectors would take an extra week. And I then was given enough time to start to learn to love myself before my worst childhood moments could be splashed across a screen.

Thank you for an awesome video, saving this to help me with a project I have in mind. A perfect example of 2 commercials having polar opposite effects is the new Jaguar Type 00 commercial and the new Volvo commercial. There are several car reviewers on you tube who show how Jaguar made a commercial that turned off their fans and customers, then blamed the uproar on the viewers, calling them names and implying that if they don't like the ad they are displaying "vile hatred." Volvo on the other hand released a really touching emotionally powerful video that told a story. I'm a 56 year old man who's never been married or wanted a child and I found the Volvo ad really touching and well done. It so perfectly demonstrates the power of what you're saying.

This explanation was so helpful. I’ll definitely have to check out the book. I feel like storytelling is something I’ve been missing from my marketing that I need to start implementing. Thanks for the video 😊

Storytelling is how small business can stay in business against the Amazons and Temus of the world. I’ll have to read the book. There is another book I believe it’s called Story Brand and the main difference and maybe it’s not really a difference at all, is that the listener is the hero and you are the Sherpa/wizard who can help them realize their needs. My story would be about going through life changes such as kids moving out of the house and redefinition

Thank you. This was so interesting and I hope to be telling my story soon. I will be watching this video another couple of times and taking notes as I listen. There's a lot to absorb. You have somehow sparked a light in my brain to tell bits of my art journey. My Mum always encouraged me to try different things and art was one of them. That, I believe is where I'll start. Thanks again.

Thank you for making this video! I am an artist and having a hard time conveying my story in my reels and videos. It’s sometimes hard to define a story or details in a story that I want to tell but this makes it super simple! Thank you so mcuh! I love your vidoes!❤😊

Thank you this was very informative. ❤ I love telling random funny stories but I don’t know how to use it in my art business. (Sorry that’s not a story you requested to add in the comments section)

Always have to pull out my journal when I come across your videos. I want to tell a story about me being a full time artist. Taking a leaf of faith but struggling now. But I know I’m the incline. Should I tell the story now or wait until the “really good” starts to happen?

I feel the same way! Like I'm always on the edge of something big but never quite there. 😅 So I feel like I can't tell my story yet. 🫤

Do you read any fiction? If so, what? I love sci-fi, fantasy, and paranormal romance. But I just like reading. 😂

Haha I used to read a ton as a teenager, before motherhood stole my every moment of free time! The last few months I’ve picked up reading again, maybe it’s time to venture back into the fiction section 📕 😍 Any suggestions?

I added the book from your video to my to read list so maybe I’ll check it out soon. It looks like it’s on Kindle Unlimited (though tbh I have 20 KU already so I’ll have to read one and return it to be able to get any other KU books. 😂🤦‍♀️).

Oh. I made 2 responses but it only shows one. Maybe it didn’t show the other because I linked the book so you could see it. 🤷‍♀️😂 The other comment said something about how I like too many books but that I’m currently reading An Ember in the Ashes series by Sabaa Tahir and how I’m really enjoying it. I’m currently on book 3 of the series.
