Africans discovered the America's 3 centuries before Columbus. The indigenous people of Hispanola gave Columbus gold and metal tipped spears. He asked where they got it and they told him dark skinned travelers. That gold that was on the tip of the spears was found on West Africa. They followed the same currents that the hurricanes follow

Start with african/Egyptian artifacts found in the Grand Canyon, then work your way up to native Americans creating alliances with Africans long before being bright here as slaves. There’s a reason they enslaved them, they needed people who knew the terrain, it’s why when they were free they knew to go south to warmer climate and closer to indigenous people.

So...are you trying to say native american indians were discovered by Africans? Or are you trying to claim Africans were in America even before native American indians? It always feels like different races are trying to claim the Americas as their discovery. It feels much more likely that a variety of different races/nationalities found their way to America a few hundred to a few thousand years before Columbus, either on purpose or by accident. Imagine being lost at sea in 1000BC, drifting for months on end, then landing in Brazil, Canada or Australia. You couldnt exactly call home. Any record you left would likely be worn away to nothing legible within a few hundred years

Columbus was merely remarking on what he studied concerning the Aristotelian view that the Earth consisted of nested spheres, where the much larger sphere of water contains the sphere of land. The sphere of land pokes out of the sphere of water, which would look like a nipple on a (spherical) breast. That is all it means. He had no idea that Aristotle was completely wrong. Ironically, it was his discovery of South America on his 4th voyage that did in the theory since land was not supposed to be anywhere above that area of the sea. The sea was supposed to keep rising (hence the high seas); he was supposed to be sailing upward, away from any land.
@ahotdj0711 ай бұрын
@08:29 Many years later, when Settlers were colonizing North America, they needed a white hero to name as the person who discovered the land to justify their colonization and mistreatment of Native Americans. They randomly chose Christofo Colombo because his name had “Christ” in it, and to make it sound more European and Christian, they changed his name to Christopher Columbus, even though he never stepped foot on American soil.

About 2,000 years before Christofer Columbus struck the New World (1492 AD), Greek mathematicians and great minds Pythagoras (570-495 BC) and Aristotle (384-322 BC) proved the world wasn’t flat. In fact, Columbus stumbled onto American shores in part because he grossly underestimated Earth’s circumference. The crew and people on the boat even ended up in protest against him because they didn't share his beliefs. He was one of these flat earthers today that totally ignores all science we have and still believes he is the only one that has figured it out. Columbus died in 1505 at the age of 55. He was such a monster that the king and queen of Spain refused to invite him to the kingdom after his voyage to the Americas because of how evil he was during his financed expedition. Word spread fast about how he and his men raped, tortured, and murdered the indigenous people in the Caribbean islands. He became a pariah. He had to flee Genova (Italy) because he raped a 13-year-old girl and hid in Spain, where he was broke and bedridden and finally died while his relatives shunned him from the public due to the unthinkable acts he did while at sea. When he died, he was never recognized as an explorer or discoverer of a new world. He was thought of as a “gross character with Gonorrhea, who butchered kids.”

True, it's a widely disseminated bit of Land-lubber nonsense. Most seamen knew it, once they traveled far enough away from land to see that the farther away a vessel was from theirs, the less they could see of it, the tops of the masts started "raising" as the distance narrowed. They even became able to judge the distances by how much they could see of a particular class of ship. (Hell, Irish fishermen crossed the Atlantic to fish off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland---in _hide boars!)_ Stay safe.

Secondly, Columbus didn't bring any African Slaves, that didn't take into effect but until the 16th century initiated by the Portuguese and, of course picked up by the Anglo-Britain such as the "London Company" who have them sent to its colonies during the late 17th century.

Most probably Colombus was a portuguese spy called Salvador Fernandes Zarco. He was sent to work for the spanish royal crown to send them in the wrong direction (Portugal wanted to arrive to Índia before the spanish). He was a good navigator. Doesn't make sense to be that wrong. Besides that, he named the biggest island he found with the name of his hometown in the south of Portugal: Cuba. The name Cuba only existed in the portuguese language, and they are the only two places in the world using that name. But it's just a theory.
@PoloGo4 жыл бұрын
The root word 'cuba' is of Arawak origin, and it is what the Taíno in Hispaniola called the island (it was not specific to the island but rather describing a feature). Columbus actually named the island 'Juana' when he encountered it during his first voyage in order to commemorate Juan, prince of the crown of Castile and son of Isabel. It was renamed afterwards as 'Fernandina' until it reverted later to be referred by its original Arawak name. The word can be found in compound words such as 'Cubanacán' (which was told to Columbus many times by the Taíno during that first voyage) where 'cuba' stands for "land" (or great land in this case, even "country" in other European interpretations) and 'nacán', which means middle (or middle of the land, the location the Taíno pointed Columbus towards to navigate during that same voyage). You can understand this origin by reviewing other similar Arawak words such as 'cubaba' (found to be used in the language of the Taíno in Hispaniola, not the Guanahatabey of Cuba), 'cubaya' (which was used to mean "place") and 'Cubao' (a territory in what was the chiefdom of Maguá). As you can see, the root word used topographically supports the use of names as places by acting as the prefix "land" or "place", which is the more precise meaning of the word when referring to the island.
