I've been working in forests like these for 25 years. I've been following this case since it appeared on the internet in 2014. I've read and watched a lot about it. The photos, cell phone records and forensics in this case suggest that the girls got lost on their way down from the El Mirador summit. They even tried to access google maps when going down the mountain. It may be that there was fog at the time, making it impossible for them to choose the correct direction of descent. It could be that they were distracted by the photos, etc. and when it was time to go down, they forgot which of the two paths [both descents] to take. This is much easier to happen than you think. Another thing that few realized is that in this region there are a lot of cattle and the cattle can make false paths that confuse people. Getting lost in the woods is a lot easier than most people think, especially if it's your first time hiking. I myself have already got lost 3 or 4 times on the first visit to unknown trails. Without a guide, getting lost is even easier. The first emergency call is also revealing: it was made leaving a margin of time that if they had followed the correct path they would have already arrived in the village. I believe that after getting lost, the girls went in the N direction to the cable bridge where some kind of accident occurred that hurt one of them or even both. I don't believe in murder etc because from what I've seen in several documentaries about real crimes the first thing kidnappers do is take any cell phone or camera from the victims. The night photos show that the girls tried to signal the rescue until the last moment. Only one thing still makes me not believe 100% in what I wrote: the backpack. Explaining what happened to the backpack is essential to clarify this case. And there are a lot of uncertainties about that.

A few questions and possibilities: 1) How is it so few bones were found (5 sets, 33 fragments in all). It was relatively dry that April and the rivers were certainly not strong enough to smash corpses into smithereens. The bodies would have decomposed significantly (if not fully) but large segments of skeletal remains should have been found with bits of clothing clinging to the remains - perhaps lodged between rocks. 2) How could the backpack and its contents stay largely intact and the electronic items still working. If they were exposed to the elements, there would have been significant damage to the items. 3) Weren't the backpack and bone fragments found UPSTREAM of the 'Serpent' river from where the women were considered to have perished. There were no scratch or bite marks on the bones indicating animals transported them there, so perhaps this was a gravity defying river? 4a) You have to look closely at the local guide (F) who was purportedly last to see the women and who injected himself in the various searches for the women AND who conveniently found the women's bone fragments. This guide has also been reported to be extremely flirtatious particularly with female clients of Nordic-Northern/Central European origin. 4b) There are also rumours the guide's stepson (H) was involved in gang activity with other locals (including one individual from a restaurant). 4c) Isn't the death of the taxi driver who took the women to the start of the El Pianista suspicious? He supposedly drowned in an area that was not considered dangerous. 5) The dog that supposedly followed them is called Blue - there were no photos of the dog with the 2 women. This dog was filmed when the women's parents went on the trail. Surely the women would have taken one photo on the Mirador with the dog? 6) Lisanne was an avid writer in her diaries and would communicate regularly with her parents. If she suspected she was dying, why did she not record a final message on her camera! 7) Why was there a lapse of 1 week, before any photos (the barrage of ~90 night photos) were taken? Weren't there search parties during that 1 week, would they not have encountered jungle creatures then - why only after 1 week? 8) Assuming there was no tampering with the memory card, there is a very small possibility the camera skipped numbering from 508 straight to 510. I have experienced this skipping on my DSLR once or twice. 9) The second, blue shoe frankly looks like a man's shoe and looks well worn - so probably not belonging to either women. Kris' parents were probably mistaken in identifying it as hers? 10) The entire area in and around the trail is a hotbed of drug smuggling activity with dozens of unsolved deaths. The country itself is in the worst 20% globally in terms of murder rate - need we say more? 11) What's chilling is that if murder was involved, the perpetrators were clearly NOT interested in money/valuables but something else...
@kenlee14165 жыл бұрын
@LMP3 And you believe the shit that is presented as so-called evidence of death by falling?
@kenlee14165 жыл бұрын
@To Release is To Resolve No one is disputing that wandering about the wilderness unprepared can be fatal. What's questionable are the evidence - which are not conclusive of supposed death by misadventure. While we are not saying 100% that this is murder, you cannot simply dismiss the many strange aspects of the case. Those that dismiss this as being nothing but stupidity of the women also completely (conveniently?) ignore that the area is a hotbed of drug activity and has had several dozen unsolved deaths. Yes, the women really should have looked at the murder stats as well as the territory and then decide to go on the hike only in a large group with trustworthy and armed guides leading the way.

Now I have been following this for a couple of years now, I have gone way outside the box. You have to, I am sure half or ore are really getting lost and normal things that happen. But there are some things going on out there that would blow our minds!!!! I am way outside of the box on a lot of these cases, I will not mention here. I would be laughed at. But, I think Dave and yourself are both on the same page also. ? Keep up the great work on this topic. Be safe and may God bless all of us.

I've heard about this case a couple of years ago. I think a third party was involved and they were murdered. I believe that the two girls met that third party on the trail and convinced them to travel further down the trail. The missing photo 509 may have had an image of that third party. I think the girls realized that something was wrong and were able to get away from the third party and then tried to use their phones to call for help. They became lost and were groping around the jungle while the third party was chasing them. They were eventually caught perhaps not at the same time but they were killed and their bodies were dissolved in chemicals. The third party hooked their camera up to a computer to delete photo 509 and then took all those nighttime photos and staged a scene to make it look like the girls got lost got hurt and died. I believe it was the third party that tried to unlock the iphone probably wanting to see if any evidence implicating the third party was in there. I believe the backpack was placed in a spot where it would be found so the staged photos would be found and the local corrupt police would rule it an accidental death because they didn't want the money making tourist business to dry up.

@jeverett72 Greetings, I am a personal rep for Mr. and Mrs. Bigfoot. After I sent word out across the continents and it finally came back they have virtually no direct knowledge of any of our unrecovered comrades. However, they do send tons of condolences and hope we find the perpetrators to these puzzling cases. Oh, also they warn we should take extra precaution if we do go into the forrest anywhere. As, in various regions many have sighted strange lights, advanced crafts, and a being (s) they call the dominator (s) who might be involved in nefarious activities... suspected sub terrestrials.

I think someone abducted them and was smart. That would explain the password being wrong on the phone. They probably went to a place where they knew that cell phones wouldn't work and made the calls themselves to make it seem like the girls did it. The search teams were out there the whole time that was going on and combed through that forest. Also, why were all of the items undamaged in the bag after MONTHS of being in a rainforest? I think the same person took the photos to make it seem like the girls were keeping track of where they were. It's weird that in the pictures, the girl's hair is clean after several days of being "lost" in the forest. That's just puzzling to me. Where is the rest of the body? There were no animal bites. Why were the remains bleached? Why did the body's decompose so different? So many questions.

This entire case is heartbreaking, and chilling w out a doubt.. one very sad fact in particular that I've come across researching this case is that Lisanne had serious doubts about traveling out of the Netherlands. You did a really great job on presenting this case. Thank you. The entire thing is bizarre. Being that they were only planning on hiking for a few hours why would they leave the trail? They would’ve of known there wasn’t time for any long excursions. The trail was a straight shot to where they were going and then back to where they started. To me the strangest and the scariest thing is that for 3 days they attempted to call Emergency Services without any luck. That soon into the hike what could’ve happened to veer off course? Did they leave the trail to go check something else out then one of them was injured? Did they get injured become confused then leave the trail because of that? Too many questions that’ll never be answered. The circumstances around their going missing and eventual death is so similar to many of the Missing 411 cases in many ways. It’s sad that their families don’t have answers as to what what happened to them while on the trail and exactly how they passed away.

They went over the peak and onto trails that are not suitable for amateurs without a guide. (I've seen videos of experienced hikers on those trails fully equipped and some of those get into difficulties) They then got lost. Kris was fatally injured. Lisanne took the night photos to leave a story, then packed up their stuff into the backpack and left it somewhere safe to be found. She had been out there for ten days, she knew it was over. She succumed to the elements and the bodies were washed downstream.

IBeMelissa of course not. Not a care in the world especially with a meticulously planned trip. I’m the type who plans for things to go wrong or to abruptly have to change plans for whatever reason. It’s dangerous for anyone male or female to go hiking in remote areas in foreign countries. If people are going to do it they need to get an a tour guide who has a lot of experience and knows the area well, go in a smaller group and never leave the group. Always stay together and don’t venture off the trail. When people are on vacation they’re having fun so their guard is down. This is a time when they should be on guard more than ever. They’re not in their element. They’re in a different country with strange surroundings, with people of a different culture and language. Recipe for disaster if they’re not paying attention. I’m certainly not saying this was the situation with these two girls because no one knows. It just happens far too often.

Before I go speculating I want to express my dearest sympathies to both families and all the people affected by this event I know that even being a searcher is hard on the mind and body. I feel the girls stopped being in control of the camera early in the hike, right as we see the end of the smiles, the first butt shot happens. I believe the girls where being marched down the path to some predetermined location and that a picture was taken of or too near to this location and that is why it was deleted. I'm sure Kris died first and sadly I believe the captures tried to keep Kris's bones by treating them but later stopped for some reason or they treated them in hopes to make them more visible and more easily found. Lisanne made a run for it at night using the cameras flash (somehow she was able to get the camera and phone back) at times to light the way, I believe the phone would have been used as a flashlight if the second girl had known the pin number. In the end, the second girl suffered great pain do to her foot and many other injures. She was recaptured and this is why all items ended up in the bag. The people who were involved did not want money nor electronics no there mission was much darker. There is a term called a willing victim, sadly these girls became willing victims because of being distraught about not being able to donate there time to the school and were not thinking as normal. I believe both girls are very street smart but one bad choice became a nightmare. I hope both girls did not suffer as much as it sounds, I know both girls are safe now but that does not change the sadness and despair the families must still feel and will for the rest of there lives. Everyone, Please stay safe and watch out for your fellow human, they may need your help or something entirely different.

I’ve heard a lot of accounts of missing persons. This one is troubling on more levels than I can thumb-type in a comment section. The bras??? Were the incorrect PINs close to the actual PIN? Good guesses? Or random blunt hacks? A friend would try birthdate (s), pet names, boyfriends names , names backwards etc...A third party would likely be unaware of these things. The “flash pics”-my gut tells me one girl was incapacitated & the other was okay but freaked out. Any wilderness at night comes alive but jungles are insanely active. The flash may have been in response to jaguar growls or other perceived large predatory animal. Cats are nocturnal. BUT SOMEONE PLACED THE BAG. Who?? And if I could have one piece of evidence that police know and we do not: I think the bras tell more story than missing pics. Sometimes people delete a pic in the moment because it looks bad or the camera misfired. But bras do not detach from young ladies and walk into a backpack THAT WAS KEPT OUT OF ELEMENTS FOR WEEKS. I am irked right now. And if you’re reading this, so are you. Sleeping with a nightlight and I’m a grown-ass man! Foot note: this case is more complicated than the public knows. In this case in particular (10 years after Dutch tourist Natalie Holloway goes missing in Latin America) the authorities know A LOT more than they are letting on. There are pics that would fill in huge gaps., Hypothesis: a normal, albeit poorly planned day turned ugly due to wilderness shock and/or trail injury. The girls knew they were in trouble. They were somewhat cogent on day 2 &3 (turning off phones in between attempts). Again, how long , how many hours between the last correct PIN entry and the incorrect ones? My gut tells me one girl succumbed to an injury and the elements while a potentially injured partner tries to “care for” or keep vigil. Think, split open head and the other girl a severely broken leg. I like the fall hypothesis. This is where it gets creepy. The night of the “flash pics” a third party encounters the girls. The one with the head wound is either dead or comatose. This perceived “third party help” is actually someone without morales who takes advantage of the situation and abducts the living girl whose injuries are less severe. From this point the story could go 10,000 directions. But the covered up head wound pic? Police know that a critical component of their case would be compromised if we saw what they saw in that pic; not to even begin speculating on what the other pics reveal that police are keeping private. I think there are “flash pics” of a third party, Perhaps an indigenous man who doesn’t know how to delete pics or use technology? Police know an enormous percentage that we do not, My gut tells me my hypothesis is closer to correct than not. Injury, followed by several days alone. The red head dies from coma/ head trauma blood clot etc...One poor girl is left alone and freaked out. The night of the “flash pics” happens. THEN IT TURNS INTO A THIRD PARTY CRIMINAL INVOLVEMENT. Man , I am equally hooked and creeped out.
@Vojkan20004 жыл бұрын
The picture was deleted but you can easily undeleted them and that was what they tried after finding the camera but the picture was deleted from the computed(the file of the picture)and thats why there is a missing picture which they could not restore...The autorities are 100%involved or hiding somthing cos their official statemant was that the fall from a monkey bridge cause a death which was 2h walk after a first emergency call....I think the third party is involed and thats why they called emergency cos they couldnt badly injured themselfs to that point(I mean i dont know the road cos i havent been there and i would like to but after wathcing multiple stories about this i think there is nothing were they could baldy injured themselfs So i think at the end somone throw them in waterfall and thats why they have broken legs and they found the legs broken cos why would somone cut their legs like that i does not make sense....So bassically they did end up in the river but only at the end..I think someone had their phones(they lost their phone) and the 3rd party tried to acces but a 77 entries are a bit mad for somone who dont know the code..You try 77 entries only if you have spare time or somthing i dont know really...

The blog that is link in the description is the most comprehensive and thorough report of any case I have ever seen. It looks very much like the guide 'F' is involved and the police are withholding information and there are conflicting reports about the remains found. The guides behavior indicates his involvement and mirrors other cases where the perpetrator has inserted himself into the investigation and gets involved with the families. I haven't been able to find out who found the camera and had access to it before it was handed over for evidence. It would seem that there are photos missing that may have shown other people as it looks like the girls were not alone after the summit. Some of the photos are clearly edited, I put some of them into Gimp and it is clear that there is distortion around Lisanne's chest and arm where it looks like the perspective has been altered as the the program has auto anti-aliased the area. Also in another Kris's fingers look stretched and the pixels beside her are distorted in a warped line. Also there is some distortion in the photo of Kris where she is bent over and her arm is bent at an awkward angle with distorted pixels near the curve in her back. Also very strange is one of the bras that was found in the backpack was the same bra that Lisanne was wearing in the photos. It is improbable that she would have changed her bra willingly if she was in a distressed state. There is so much here that is wrong and I think it is unlikely that we will ever truly know what happened to these girls. They are not the only ones to go missing up there. I think the girls were intersected by someone or someones and subsequently murdered. The details of which I think we will never know. A very sad and disturbing story.

If the photos have been tampered with, it was done so to mess with the timeline and/or their location at the time, working backwards I would start by looking at who gained from them appearing to be on the trail that day and at that time. My feeling is that they where in trouble way before it would seem, maybe as far back as the whole school thing falling through

I remember hearing about this case somewhere before. It's one of the strangest I've ever heard! It's interesting that you mentioned that residents of the area also talk about the "Duende" luring people into the forest. There is obviously something to be afraid of! Thank you! Have a good night and a great day tomorrow! 😊💕💕💕

I notice that the bras found in the backpack look like the same ones in the photos of the girls. One bra is black with blue and pinkish pattern and the other girl seemed to be wearing a bra with dark straps. The black bra? Did someone keep their things as trophies, manipulate the camera images, and then later on deposit the bag where it would be found? That would explain the missing and/or photoshopped images, and the dry and pristine nature of the backpack. If those are the bras they left wearing, then why were they both found in the Backpack? I seriously doubt they would have removed them themselves. I suspect foul play.

Another thing, why pack bras? I mean underwear are more important if you get wet... And the local said the backpack hadn't been there the day before...
@martymchckn39145 жыл бұрын
Cat. Wing I doubt it, ok let's just say you're correct, why would she fold both bras neatly and put both phones, pretty much everything back into the backpack.... That doesn't make sense to me. If I were hungry and thirsty not thinking straight at that point, let's just they they were trying to survive I wouldn't think ohh let me find both bras and put my phone back into the backpack... Also the lady said the backpack want there the day before.

The girls wanted to explore but given a warning by the locals and they ignored them, but they are dead now. Lesson for all the people who want to go out and be adventurish go with a few people, heed warnings or you all could end up dead or never found again. People may think they know everything and it will be okay, but there are many who have the arrogant attitude and end up missing or dead. Prayers to the families of the 2 girls.

A really bizarre story on the surface that may have a simple explanation: they ran into a drug gang who used the forest as a hideout and supply route? I think you can sadly imagine the rest, if so. It might explain local warnings. It's also really easy to go downhill (health-wise) if you have an asthma attack and run out of inhaler. The phosphates in Kris' bones might be specific to the area of the town/city she has lived in or she may have a higher amount in her bones naturally. I don't know how much was found but is it possible that some people are genetically predisposed to higher quantities of certain elements in their bodies than others?

Heyo all, Top Mysteries is putting out some really great Docu-series content these days. I can tell there is a lot of labor and love put into each episode. So remember, when we click that "thumb up" it helps the creator a ton, so they can do what they love and keep creating that Grade A content we crave🤤 Thanks Top Mysteries 💜💜💜

there are a lot of witnesses in this case who tell different stories. we cannot be certain even about the time when the girls took the taxi to the Pianista trail. taxi driver drowned some time after the disappearance. tour guide is a suspicious guy as well. he was allegedly the first one to enter their room after they went missing. I am sure that photos have been manipulated, same as elevator footage in Lisa Lam's case and hotel security footage in Kenneka Jenkins's case. evidence seems to be manipulated a lot in those stories with high publicity. and, moreover, can we be certain that cell phone history of the girls has not been manipulated as well?

Why is there no pictures of the dog? Even if the dog wasn't with them the hole time, they were documenting key points on the trail it seems odd not to include the the dog in there travels. Limited pictures released to public i know but why exclude dog?

It could well be Kris already died on April 1 afternoon due to a bad accident and Lisanne took Kris phone to dial 112 . Both phones were used on that day does not necessarily mean that both women were still alive .

I've been listening to these to fall asleep for a few weeks, and none of them have scared me like this did. Normally I find these fascinating, but this one put me so on edge for some reason. You have no idea how paranoid I got when I heard a sound before I placed it as my roommate walking to the bathroom 😂 I do wonder, though, what the incorrect pins were. If they were close or way off-base. If someone possibly typed a message that way? Which would be incredibly weird, but who knows.

No one did this to them. These 2 girls caused their own deaths. They did a jungle trek spontaneously without a plan, did not wear appropriate clothing, did not bring enough water and food. Made a fatal decision to continue hiking past the summit. Called for help when they got caught in the jungle at dusk and had to stay there overnight but made a fatal decision to continue walking the next morning when fog hit and walked further and further away. One of them got injured, Kris broke her pelvis fell into a ravine and her best friend went after her but injured her foot on the way down. They couldn't escape and died of hunger, hypothermia, shock. Their dead bodies got swept by flash floods. If they had just stayed at the spot of their first call for help they would have been found the next day or 2 days later. Don't blame this on any cartel or indigenous people. Their multiple poor decision making proved fatal. They didn't respect the jungle and it's dangers.

This is the creepiest video you've done so far, and the most interesting along with the one where the man was found later and said he didn't know why he took off his shoes and dumped his phone and flashlight.. I think something paranormal is in the woods that confuses people and makes them lose their way and then stalks them. Even in the other video the locals knew what was happening and got a shaman to undo this and only after that the man was found. As sad as this case is, I'm fascinated by the way you cover these stories, really really good job done. I will say this though, even though I believe in something paranormal in the woods, I think this one had some manipulation by a 3rd person. I feel like someone caught up to them and was trying to take pictures of them to show they were ok but their expressions say otherwise. This person could be trying to access the phone hence the wrong pin. Just very very unsettling overall, I watch missing 411 videos all the time but this one gave me the chills. Poor girls, I wish there was a way they could have been saved :(

The woods are a special place. I am going to grow my own forest somewhere as soon as i can, just start with a bunch of resistant trees and when they create a barrier from winds and cast a shade go for small shrubs and just let it go from there and keep on doing that in eroded lands untill i have a forest bigger than the country i come from. I wonder what life forms will find a home in that forest, and how i would reflect on those entering that do not find a home there.

@@jamielauro2623 What I read was that a gang of (5) guys did this. Osman Valenzuela, Jose-Manuel Murgas, Henry Eliezer Conzalez, (son of tour guide Feliciano Gonzales), Efrain Manuel Rios Gonzales (bijnaam Adonis, the rapist and murderer en friend from Henry). He raped and murdered Nuris Esther Castrellón a 50 year old lady. In 2018 at a periode of 6 months 22 woman where raped and murdered there. The Panama city police did interrogate (the hard way?) these guys and not long after these guys are murdered. Just like the 34 year old taxi driver Leonardo Arturo Gonzalez who drop of Kris and Lisanne at the beginning of the trail. On the cell phone from one of the gang member was a picture (total 2) with two guys and two girls swimming at a place (Caldera area) near the trail. They say it is Kris and Lisanne on the photo’s. But you have to look well to see it. I think they are on the picture. Also Lee Zeltzer found some snuff pictures showed up at Darknet: two girls on the ground surrounded by a tribe and Kris her face heavily beaten. Lee also died short after he finds out these pictures. (He knew to much??). Feliciano Gonzales is definately involved.
