My Dad was 6 '10" . As a kid I was so proud of my " giant " father , but when I was in my teens I saw what a hassle his height was for him ....having to duck under nearly every door , no clothes fit him that he didn't pay twice the cost , he didn't fit into any cars until he bought a Fleetwood , plus people were constantly coming up to him to ask his size or ask how the air was up there and other b.s. Since he was so big , little men would come out of the woodwork to prove they could whip the biggest guy here (usually at the bar , any bar ) , and he would oblige them a trip across a few tables and a visit to the floor .... Probably from his 10 years as a Bouncer at the roughest house around .... If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes , it was insane . He stood out . He didn't live past 44 years , bless his heart .I am now 20 years older than he ever made in age . Wish I could talk to him about his experiences , now as a adult . Big Jim , I miss you still .

My dad had a friend called "Tiny". I was little and not shure exactly how tall he was but he had to duck to walk into our house when we had cookouts. He had the biggest Cadillac they made in the mid 70s, and he wasn't only tall, he was a very fluffy guy lol. We all use to watch him squeeze into that Cadillac and watch it lower about 3-4 inches on the drivers side when he got in lol. It leaned hard on the drivers side when he was in it.

Lamont is the best with being consistent at releasing video content. I recall when I discovered Mr Ballens storytelling channel 2 years ago, he was releasing 2 videos a week. Longtime subscribers would sometimes comment how he released 3 videos a week. Now he has only been releasing 1 video a week for several months now. Sometimes it is 1 video every 2 weeks. Again, this is Mr Ballen I am talking about. However, the storytelling is excellent…..I went to search for “on the site” crime/ mystery storytellers because of The inconsistency of other channels. Lamont’s channel is better in my opinion.

Thank you Lamont!!! Not only did you do an excellent job presenting her story, but you made Vicki human. I personally felt sorry for her, she was at the end of her career and she went though alot of heartbreak too!!! I lost my husband of 47 years 2 years ago and I know there is a huge void in my life, she might have felt White was her last chance in life. It's sad, she was only 59, I'm in my early 70's & being alone doesn't scare me, I think that was why she did it, she just didn't want to be alone anymore!!! When they got stopped she just couldn't face her friends & family. She knew she would go to prison & a cop in prison is not a good life either. These are the things I thought of when it originally happened. May she rest in piece & I hope he at least have some amount of regret for the way it turned out.

Some people just cannot face the prospect of being alone. It's really sad, because of that, people a lot of times put themselves in this kind of situation, All just to be loved for those few moments, and hear those words many long to hear. "I love you". He probably was a smooth talker, and lets face it, he was in prison for decades and it was going to be hard for him to have a relationship with a woman. He wanted his chance at life and risked everything for it. He had to pay for his actions, but wanted what he wanted, consequences be damned. I feel so badly for he Ridgeway family. All they want is justice for their mom's murder. That was awful enough in itself what happened to her. Then this escape happened. It was so bizarre that our small area was on national news. I live in the next county in Athens, and it was the only thing in the news all of the time. People searched around North Alabama, because that's where it was thought that's where they were. I'm sorry, but I am with the opinion that the jail needs punished. Why in the heck was she allowed to leave with him alone? Why wasn't there a double check about the "appointment" Casey had with the psychologist? Did Vicky commit suicide or was she killed? She gave up so much for that man. I feel sad for her. She worked for so many years and gave up her retirement. BUT, there was an "open secret". Apparently, this wasn't the first man she had a "relationship" with. But that's kind of just "talk around the water cooler".

I don’t think she woke up one day and decided to throw her entire life away to break a convicted murderer out of prison, I doubt she thought it in this way at all. I think she looked at it differently than what it looks like on the surface. Maybe what she decided was not to throw her life away but to start living, to start a life, a life she wanted with someone that loves her someone that didn’t make her feel alone and invisible but that actually notices her, someone that made her feel love again. Regardless if what he told her was true or not , to her it was and she believes in her own dreams and so she followed her dream. I feel bad for her, I truly doubt she decided to throw her entire life away, I think whatever she threw away and left behind she decided it was worth giving that up for the future she believed would be. He told her everything she wanted and needed to hear to feel alive, and believes what she wants to believe and doesn’t want to believe what she doesn’t want to believe just like you me and everyone else. The whole thing is sad, she did it for love. Poor girl, rest in peace Vicki you are loved

Old Proverb “Needs must when the devil drives.” In other words, when you are “desperate”, you end up doing things you ordinarily would not do. When a person’s emotional needs turn into fierce desperation driving perceptions, need ends up overshadowing intellectual knowledge/awareness... cognitive dissonance will unwittingly close the otherwise irreconcilable gaps between reality vs wanting/needing to perceive otherwise to suffice.

Vicky was widowed. I was widowed suddenly and nothing ever tested and changed me more than that could have. I no longer knew life and myself. After a few years of shock, it gets worse, which I never knew, but I talk with hundreds of widowed people daily. It's shocking ow lost, easily manipulated and just hopeless they get, but where others think you just 'get over it' like when their grandma died, so people hide the pain and hopelessness, sometimes isolating, sometimes reaching for anyone to love them and make them feel human and give them a life again. First thing I asked when I heard this case when they escaped was, "By any chance, is she a widow?", and she was. The 4-7 year mark, widows often really lose hope. She was 6 years out. We need more education of severe grief rather than ignorance and it being uncomfortable to see. She was ripe for a manipulator and scammer. Hopefully, she is now safe with her husband.

So sorry for your loss. You have a good head on your shoulders & like you said she was vulnerable for a scammer & fell for the coward Casey White who was willing to fight to the last drop of HER blood & risk her money & her career. Evil scammers like Casey White feel no guilt when good women lose all their money & more like you said in that window where it gets the worst. It’s easy for some to judge her situation rather than trying to trying to learn from her situation. Sometimes God or the universe wants us to have time to learn to love & accept ourselves before we can love another. Scammers who sense that exploit it to isolate the victim to project shame. Sometimes the victim doesn’t realize how easy it is turn back to friends & family because even if the scammer is out on the streets, he has no power than an a jailed inmate when the victim realizes that he’s the one who should be ashamed & blocks him from her life.

Great coverage of this case Lamont. My husband is 6'9, and he stands out everywhere. So very sad for Vicky White's family. I remember one report stated that he was in that prison a few years prior to the break out and that is when they first met. I do think she was lonely, and he may have used that to gain her trust. Her ex-husband had passed in January from Parkinson's. Her ex-mother in law, said after the divorce they still were friends. Only God and Vicky White knows the real truth. Stay safe Lamont ❤️.

I think Vicky had a mid life crisis. It does happen to women too, usually later than men. She was alone, about to retire and maybe she was just wanting someone to spend that time with. I can't imagine thinking something like that would work out, but who knows what goes through people's minds during life changes. It's a very sad story!

I live in the UK and so had never heard of this case. Thank you for your excellent coverage, it was extremely comprehensive and even-handed. I feel really sorry for her, clearly she was going through some kind of mid-life crisis, maybe even a total emotional breakdown. From what you said, she was a law-abiding, thoroughly nice person up until this happened and her actions were so absolutely crazy that I'm sure the balance of her mind was disturbed, as evidenced by the fact that she chose to end her own life. What a devastating tragedy, both for her and all her family. May she rest in peace.

Bro, everytime I click on a new vid/story it makes me smile ear to ear because the first upload of yours I watched was the car conversation you recorded while on break from a job that you hated and felt like everyday you were there was another day lost that you wasted your potential and drive for something better. It's actually crazy to see just how much your life has changed for the better because you refused to be complacent and stuck going nowhere but parallel. @juanitataylor2527. I was a Prison Officer for 10yrs. As a female working in a mens maximum security prison, I was the target for attempted manipulation on more than one occasion. My husband was in the military and as such he could be gone for months on end, it WAS lonely. That being said, the problem for me wasn’t so much the inmates, though they tried ( happens when you’ve got 24/7 and nothing better to do ) - they were nowhere near as annoying as … some of the MALE OFFICERS 👮‍♀️ Loneliness/ Depression/ makes many people make stupid mistakes…

I agree Brenda. I live in Australia and I was drawn into this as everything was happening. It may have gripped the nation, but it also gripped the world. How could it not? With a woman in Vicki’s position, I think she was practically in charge at the jail, she had worked there for so many years. She was no idiot. She had been around men trying to manipulate her for years, decades even. Yes, she did something really stupid, but she was definitely not a stupid woman. We will never know what, but something made her fall in love with that man. Unfortunately, people in love sometimes do really stupid things. I reckon she knew that this would be how everything would end, but I’m sure she was hoping that they would have much more time together first. I just don’t buy it that she thought that they would be able to travel off into the sunset and never be found. She new what he had been found guilty of and she knew that the police and the FBI would not just stop looking for someone as dangerous as Casey was/is. You can’t help who you fall in love with. If you could, I’m certain sure that Vicki would never have chosen a dangerous criminal with a 75 year prison sentence. RIP Vicki White 🌸

@@derrickduke3433 I disagree. Vickie held the position of power. A man, obviously a simple minded man. A man with a history of bad decisions and choices behind him. Nothing to lose. Jailhouse flirtations, a biscuit here, a fruit cup there. Gratitude and flirtations from a most gracious inmate towards a jailer. Vickie escaping into a romantic fantasy, a Bonnie & Clyde type fantasy in her lonely mind. Perhaps a momentary inkling for Casey, a fantasy of freedom, a rare sexual encounter with an actual woman to gain. Vickie held all of the power. The offer of freedom, a sexual encounter with a (more than) willing woman. What man facing multiple life sentences would ask to be returned to a cell? What's for Casey to lose? I believe her to be the (obvious) aggressor. A lonely woman. At the end of a mundane 20 year career. 56 years old. Not believing the rest, the best, of her life ahead of her. 56 year old retired woman. Pension, home owner. I myself would have chosen an extended vacation in Belize! Handsome lovely men loving the @#$% out of pretty blonde women there. Stupid girl. She chose poorly.

Listen to the 911 call Vicki made right after she tells him to get us back to the hotel the gunshot goes off with a small scream from her. My wife and I now believe he shot her mid sentence. Anybody else notice this? Lamont what about u?

I am a nurse who worked at several correctional facilities. Intelligent practical man and women employed as correctional employees are vulnerable at times to prisoners who have time to study each and every employee. It’s amazing how a person can get tricked and caught up in schemes. And loose everything.

She probably had occasional opportunity to notice the dongle that was attached to said frame. A little lonely, a little frustrated, a girl with needs. But wowza! Very important to rotate and audit your staff in intimate settings like these. And pay attention to employees who try to speak up. Sad case all around.

Great video Lamont, keep making these documentaries. I followed the case closely as well and unfortunately it had a tragic ending with Vicky making a terrible decision. I can't believe she got involved with him in the first place. The whole story is bizarre honestly.

I wonder if Vicki was going through a "Mid life" crisis she spent her adult life Doing the "right" thing and losing her boyfriend probably didn't help much either but she may have wanted some excitement in her life. And if she was grieving still she may not have really cared either. I'll bet she confided in him about her loss and he turned the charm on and she bought. I too feel terrible for her and her family. Nice work Lamont. What you do is so thoughtful. And most appreciated.

Excellent reporting Lamont. Your personal spin on these stories bring them to life. Often times there is no explanation for what motivates people to go off the rails. I like that you do not try to fill in the blanks with some BS and allow these people's story to speak for themselves.

Lamont I freaking loveeeeee you soooo much for not saying “she’d give the shirt off her back” I swear every single victims friends/family known to mankind uses that freaking saying to describe the victims And it’s like dude there are a million ways to say someone was generous, wtf does everyone have to be so damn simple to use the same saying Well thank you Jesus, you finally broke the mold
