Exactly what I was thinking. His "it's not in my character" comment is just not based in reality. The holes in the wall were from HIS fists, then using those same fists again while instinctively punching Matthew in the face...and this is after only 4 months of him (Shane) & Alex dating?!? He was showing his true colors to Alex VERY early on, the red flags were definitely there. Plus...bruh, she was SCARED of you! & enough so that she had told OTHERS that she was scared of you! She's freaking SCARED of you after only 4 months of dating! Usually the first 6 months to a year people are still in that "honeymoon" stage. I also find it quite convenient that he just happened to lose his phone the very night that she was m******d. So the authorities never even bothered to check his phone even after he eventually "found it"? Just to maybe even check & see if there actually WERE any angry or threatening texts sent back & forth between him & Alex...or to check the times of their last communication?! For him to have been dismissed so early in the investigation seems crazy to me. The victim's current partner is ALWAYS considered to be at the very least, a person of interest...as they should be until they can be completely ruled out.

Listen, I have been an RN for 38 years. I would have never stopped to wash my hands in this situation. I would have called 911 immediately and then went back to caring for her. He is not telling the truth about anything.
@damienjstepick9 күн бұрын
You’ve been an RN for 38 years. You’ve seen things most of us will never see. You’ve experienced things most of us never would. You have the ability to handle situations most of us couldn’t. The average person wouldn’t know what to do if blood was flowing out of someone’s neck, but you would. Most people wouldn’t know how to even give CPR but you would. Your reaction is 38 years of experience. The rest of us is whatever we’ve seen on TV and KZbin, a CPR class we took in high school and whatever our natural instinct of fight and fight happens to be. Not that I don’t agree it’s weird. He washed his hands, but obviously he didn’t call them immediately cause he panicked. The question is did he panic because he was the only person with her and he didn’t think the police would believe him or did he panic because he shot her? When the police tell me the only way a mechanism from the door can end up under her neck is if it got there before she went down I have a hard time now siding with them because that doesn’t make sense. That piece could have ricocheted off a wall, could’ve been kicked when he came in and then ricocheted off of the toilet or the tub and when he picks her head up to try and stop the bleeding it ends up getting knocked underneath her or several other ways I can come up with. When police tell me this is the only way possible I start to question whether or not they’re being honest with me. Sadly, I worked in news media, TV, film and with politicians so I have trust issues. Edit: yes, he was a nurse, but there’s no blood on him. And the door shielded him? HOW? How do you shoot someone in the side of the head without looking? How does your arm or hand not get blood on it at all? He never should’ve moved the gun. She was on tons of meds, admitted to mental struggles and had attempted suicide before. I didn’t know he was medicating her, but it doesn’t change her state of mind. And my primary care took over pain medication after I had a surgery and needed more than two days worth. This is a weird and difficult puzzle, but I learned working in media trusting what you’re told and see needs more questioning than instinct.

@ that’s a weak response. Explain it. Subjective opinions are easy to spout, but what about my comment was off? I think someone with almost 40 years of experience will handle a situation different than someone with a lot less. Even if he is a nurse practitioner. When you throw a motion in the mix, it changes the way people react. I’ve been held up at gunpoint four times, have you? The way I felt the first time was very different from the fourth time. I grew up in a rough part of New York and that was just life. I don’t think they proved the guy guilty, though if I were to give my personal opinion, I’d say he’s probably guilty. Doesn’t change anything I said. So tell me, wow about what? That’s a really weak response. I enjoyed debate but despise lethargic retorts.

I have dated a person that would rather me be dead than be with someone else, even if he was constantly with other people. In most of these stories, the parents always say, "Not my little Johnny" being a parent of 2 adult children formerly 3, I know that is delusional. They are never 100% innocent. Most of the time, they are at least half responsible for whatever trouble they are involved in.
@SmikeyDeeson9 күн бұрын
Therefore, you're also admitting that you are at least half responsible for their behavior and acts? Or, did you defend yourself to them when they were children, instilling in them that you were perfect? Sometimes, it's easier to convince myself I did the right thing; hell, I'd even incorporate my friends and family to help; until, I finally grew up; I mean, how was I supposed to learn anything, or remember anything, thus realizing anything new and important going on in that fashion and to that degree. It is actually better to admit mistakes and change, than to try to spin history like every media source out there in order to control others and MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. How does one know the best way to go about things without having reviewed history, the one normally documented by predecessors who had a stake in the game. Fine! But, now they are dead! The one thing I'm sure of is that Matthew is a terrible liar. The other give away was that when he left the building to supposedly get his "ear buds," he was actually retrieving his weapon, which is why it took so long. Another issue was that the gun shot residue found on her left hand I believe was a result of her putting up left hand to shield herself after he broke the door open and pointed the gun at her. The bottom line is that Alex was playing with fire by getting involved with a married man with kids, and be on four antidepressants, plus three time the legal limit of alcohol was the perfect storm when all the holes in the Swiss cheese lined up to produce a deadly deadly result. Finally, it is actually "three" families who are grieving a loss because you left out Matthew's wife and four kids.

"I mean, what was the end goal for Matthew anyway, since he had a wife and 4 kids?" Well...the post-mortem says that Matty put upwards of $20,000 into maintaining her lifestyle. So I can't say what the "end goal" was but he found something within her worthy of that amount of support.

I agree.. I also feel like the door evidence, so they call it, was a little bit contradictory. They say that he blocked the Blood by shooting her behind the door, yet if the door had been closed, the legs would have been on the other side of the door, so which is it? Was the door closed, or was the door not closed?

Only watched 10 mins and all I saw was someone acting. Fake tears, weird story told without any emotion. I would bet he is guilty. Now I will continue watching and see if my gut feeling is right. Edit: I watched the whole episode and there are too many open questions and the investigation seems really badly done. She was wasted and with drugs in her system, had attempted suicide, had manipulated him to get pills, and had gunpowder residue in her hands. I don’t like the guy but you should only use evidence and there is nothing conclusive. Even two forensic examiners ruled the death as “undetermined”. “In dubio pro reo” is a basic principle in justice. He should be free (for now) and, also, wtf do his parents have to do with all this not to be allowed to see their grandkids? A few episodes back, a woman acknowledges she shot her husband with a Glock (with 3 patented safety mechanisms to avoid accidental shootings), the evidence was there, but she said it was “by accident” and she was not charged and let go (?). 9 years later (?) the case is re opened, she is found guilty. The more episodes I watch, the happier I am not to live in the US. Their police, criminal and justice system is an absolute joke.

The "issue" with her body and leg placement in the bathroom is not an issue at all, totally possible AND plausible. The GSR on her hand only with her DNA on the gun, is the smoking gun. This is tragic regardless, and would be very hard for the parents to accept the truth. Edit: AND she had attempted suicide before, and the parents try to claim the next time she succeeds this doesn't make sense?!?!?! Also the hand she used means nothing when it's a sudden spontaneous action.
@17thknight10 күн бұрын
Yeah... Sure it's possible he did it. But she has substance abuse problems and a history of trying to take her own life. It's just as possible she did it herself. The body position stuff is always nonsense.

Why would he move the gun and then put it back? Why lie in the first place? Why was his fingerprints and DNA not on the gun? How did part of the door get under the victim? In the video you can tell she was upset with him. He is full of crap. He got the GSR on her by putting the gun into her hand. Come on now. I’m sure there is more we don’t hear in the video, but was in the trial.

I think he was toying with her, in addition to trying to impress her; possibly even make her fearful of him. Who knows what this seducer was REALLY up to! He's a terrible individual; gamey and sinister; however, I don't see him pulling that trigger. I do envision him blowing her off, telling her to do it though; and that got him 30 years at the State Pen. With regard to his former wife not permitting their children to see his family, I understand the reason; i.e., they'd confuse and possibly lie to them about their father, causing them more hardship. They might show up at their father's family's doorstep to make inquiries; at least one out of the four. Or, maybe sooner, if any of them need monetary help, especially if their mother isn't clear about her intentions and marries another creep who happens to dislike them.

Maybe she was thereatening him to tell his wife about an affair they had, and he was prescribing her meds and gave her money after they broke up under the pressure. Did I hear 28,000 K he gave her just to help her out? With 4 kids and wife to support? And put his licence at risk just to help instead of redirecting her to original prescriber or new doctor? And he knew that she got a new boyfriend. It would cause likelly some negativity on his side. Not likelly he will be willing to support her that much... They don't look friendly at all on the last video. It seems that she is mad at him and he looks like he is trying find the way to deescalte the situation. Based on what was presented, without seeing the evidence as presented in the trial, I think there is reasonable doubt- I did not like that he washed his hands and that this fact was one of the first odd things he told the police. I find his prescription to a non-patient to be highly unethical and he should have lost his license to practice just based on that. May be hi did it, but I do not believe it was proven beyond a reasonable doubt. The leg evidence confused me. The door piece evidence could have happened like the defense said. He also lied and change his story about the gun and he cheated on his wife. He is of questionable character, but not necessarily a murderer. In his favor also her mental instability with what looked like significant alcohol abuse an use of Valium which is not an antidepressant and is not really used for anxiety. Use of antidepressants on itself does not mean that somebody is necessarily unstable.

I cried the other day. Cried for ages,over my father passing away. He hasnt just died, he passed away, seven years ago on Saturday. Five minutes before, he was laughing at the television. He had a seizure and was gone. I was in such shock I think when it happened, then I was the one sorting out the coroner, funeral, will etc. I had to be the " strong one" for my mum, brother, daughters and grandson. I adored him, and felt if I cried I would just shatter into a million pieces and never recover. Then suddenly last week the tears came, and its like a weight has lifted. Just because someone doesn't cry , it doesnt mean they dont care.

No one has mentioned Matthew getting “headphones” from his car. It was 2-3am. I think he went back for his gun. Now I know as a rule don’t leave a gun in your car overnight. And maybe he really was worried that Shane might show up. But then why say went back for his headphones? The evidence points more toward homicide than suicide. Watching the original episode, and before any mention of a suspect, I felt it was Matthew. And I don’t think Clyde of him shooting her was an argument about her telling his wife, I think it was more about her choosing Shane and not him.

37:51 Her comment is hypocritical because her brother wasn't helping people by subscribing medicine to addicts who aren't his patients and he had a loaded gun and he didn't stop the victim from going into the bathroom with his gun. He literally lied about the situation. I can tell you exactly what happened just by the basic evidence of the door being broken and the lock being found under her body. He literally chased her into the bathroom and broke in when she locked it and shot her in the head. I believe he was abusive to her for years that's why they broke up and he was feeding her addiction keeping her under his control and they got into an argument he got mad because he lost control, that's why she looked upset in the video and he shrugged it off before following her. He got rid of the evidence and staged a suicide. He was a practicing healthcare provider and has an understanding of crimes at a deep medical science level. Also, she wouldn't have had drugs in her system or had the gun if he didn't subscribe the drugs and if he cared about people he wouldn't have a loaded gun ready for anyone to use. He lied to his family and community. Also, his sociopathic personality showed at the end of the trail, his flat emotionless stair says it all. He doesn't care about anything. He's got an empty vessel instead of a full heart full of love and a soul. He wanted to control Alex until she had nothing left but her suffering and addiction. He's sick and his family is just as sick as he is. They don't care about the victims or the truth. They only see themselves. That's narcissistic selfishness. It runs in the family. They will never be able to relate to others or understand the pain and suffering their family member has caused because they don't care too.
