My theory is that if you shake up on your controller (which gives the ball a lot of upwards velocity so that it can get out of the sand instantly) and press B immediately afterwards (I don’t think it’s frame perfect, but it might be), the game freaks out because it’s supposed to be accelerating upwards and downwards at the same time, so it just… doesn’t accelerate and keeps its upwards velocity

about the language learning part in the beginning. There is a case where a girl kept in a champer without getting to talk to someone. Her parents or someone who kidnapped here i cannot remember. When she was rescued when she was 10 she could not speak a language as she had never heard anybody talk to her. Her kidnapper/parent did not even talk to her just kept her locked up. When people tried to teach her a language she could not understand grammar. It was impossible for her to learn grammar only individual words. This shows that when we are a baby there is a period of time where we can learn grammar which we can use later to understand other languages because we already have an understanding of grammar. She missed that period in time where she could learn grammar. So the question you should first ask is do i keep the ability of understanding grammar or do i also lose that. If you lose it you would not be able to learn a new language.
@zealousmagician9884 жыл бұрын
There are critical periods (AKA strong critical periods) and sensitive periods (AKA weak critical periods) for learning that people experience. Critical periods are periods of time when the brain develops the skills to learn to do or process something, and it cannot learn this outside of the critical learning period. Sensitive periods are more lenient, and the brain is able to learn these things easier during these points, but it's not impossible to learn something outside of when it should have been learned during a sensitive learning period in the brain's development. From what I can tell, language and grammar processing falls into sensitive and/or critical periods (I can't remember the specifics), which is why learning a first language is so much more difficult and less successful at a later age.
@colinyoung36854 жыл бұрын
There have been cases or feral children such as Oxana Malaya, and Marina Chapman who developed language use despite it being absent beforehand. A single case is not sufficiently compelling to make broad assertions, granted it does seem to be far more difficult to acquire these skill if left till later, it does not appear to be impossible.
@tigerstripedsinger4 жыл бұрын
I think you're wrong about this being about grammar, it is about the brain developing to accommodate language I believe. (I learnt about this in school but I'm a bit rusty now) I believe you need to learn language before about age 8 to ever be able to learn it. (At least in a verbal way, depending on your upbringing you may have some body language for example) If smallant lost his ability to speak English that implies to me that he did know it but it got lost somehow which to me means he can learn language
@xXBallMeatXx4 жыл бұрын
Lol that Girl is dumb XD
@Nat_the_Chicken4 жыл бұрын
I was just taking a linguistics class on this (it was called Intro to Language Acquisition) and this is kind of a huge debate in the academic circles that's been going on for ages. It was originally assumed that every aspect of language use must be learned, because it's mostly sociocultural and hasn't been around for long from an evolutionary standpoint, but aside from the fairly consistent critical periods, studies have shown that babies know WAY more than they should based on how much they've heard, even counting what they could hear in the womb. So many linguists now believe that a significant part of our language capacity is biological, and our brains are specifically coded to infer grammar and vocabulary based on certain rules (which is plausibly developmentally sensitive). So the current debate is over how much of this is hard-coded and how much is really learned: kind of a nature/nurture thing.
