I encountered Helder Mello and the sax guy when he was referred to my music studio in Glasgow to try help him with his music ventures. I grew up a minority in Glasgow too and faced many racist attacks. I understand his frustration, but he was a hand full and always drunk, spilling wine on the studio carpets, and often took advantage. He claimed to be the best guitarist in Glasgow, which was a bit ego fueled as my studio alone gave myself many joyful days listening to some amazing bands with outstanding guitarists. He wasnt fond of me saying that and soon after meeting and giving him an abundance of help, I had to part company from him as it was too much for anyone to take on. He never ever blames himself and often says others were jealous of him. Its a shame as he had potential but life obviously was winning and he was loosing at the time. May he find peace and self awareness. 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞

What music studio is it you own? Asking as I may have also used it in the past (likely in my teen years! I’m 29 now). Regardless, I would say that you’ve hit the nail on the head with that observation. I’ve never spoke to the man, but I’ve seen him out and about. He’s great. Really a lot of skill with him. However, as you say.. he does have other issues. I can see here that he has alcohol dependency issues, which obviously come out in a malicious way. He initially has charm, and shows that very well along with the skills he possesses. It’s easy to want to help if you’ve got a kind heart. Although, it’s pretty clear alcohol clouds his perspective. Making his own issues, every one else’s as he’s not capable to admit he has a problem with addiction. Anyway, I do hope he’s doing better now.
