I added a tooth in the rear, added arrow slip ons, and did the upmap which takes the restriction off the first 4 gears. its the perfect bike now. the torque allows me to pull in a tall gear from very low revs and then when i want to light the candles i can point it east or west and make all the clocks wrong on planet earth. even after two years it has me not just smiling, but actually laughing in my lid. dont short change yourself. go with the madman. you will thank me later.

Went to the dealer to “look at” the Bayliss V2 replica and came home with the V4 Streetfighter. They had a brand new V2 SF sitting next to the V4. It was $17,995 USD and the V4 was a used 2022 with 7000 miles, Arrow exhaust, Bren Tune, fender eliminator, turn signals integrated into the fins mod, and a few other tasty bits already added for $19450. Since there was no shipping charge or dealer prep charge on the used bike, the added accessories made this the perfect bike as after taxes tags and title, it was $230 CHEAPER than the V2. I mostly agree with what you say but you misread the chart at 8:00 The torque scale ranges from 60 to 100 nm on the V2 chart. At 6000 rpm, it's not 45 nm but 75 nm. Granted it's quite a lot less than the V4, but 75 is already plenty for the street.

I like the take away here from this vid man, I am still on the side of the v2 even with the explanation of torque curve. Only reason why is because I just sold my tuono v4 and there is something I missed from a "smaller" displacement/HP. That is the fun you get from winding a smaller engine out. I respect Neevsy's angle, but his experience/rider level is far beyond the ordinary Joe - he can, no doubt, squeeze more out of the V2 on the road. The V4 has an explosive top end, but output is restricted in the first 4x gears, so the 208 BHP crank power is rarely realised on the road. I've watched countless V4 reviews where the rider has expressed shear disbelief at how Ducati manage to get 208BHP down with such stability....whilst winding on full throttle in 1st or 2nd gear to 8000rpm ! The reality is there is nowhere near 208 BHP being laid down in 1st or 2nd gear at 8000rpm. 208 BHP is crank horsepower - rear wheel horse power Max is more like 185 BHP.....but not at 8000rpm in 2nd gear peak power is 13,000rpm ....but only in 5th or 6th will the 208 BHP crank be fully realised at 13,000rpm. The V2 is much less powerful/torquey, but is electronically restricted a lot less accordingly - probably makes the bike feel more dynamic as a result and more akin to road use, as the "hyde" nature of the V4's top end cannot be fully utilised on typical UK roads....but can on a smooth open track with no oncoming vehicles and plenty of run-offs in place of granite hedges.. I see the "V2 is better than V4" reviews as simply that - the V2 feels easier to cope with on the road at moderate speeds, allows more of the rpm range to be utilised accordingly. Remember also that Primary drive, transmission and final drive ratios have an enormous influence on how engine power is transferred to the rear wheel/road.
@thefika2 жыл бұрын
Neevsy is my favourite bike reviewer. I was not singling him out but he missed the mark with this one. It was like ALL the youtube reviewers know more people will buy the V2 and were pandering to that audience for views. If you ride both on the street at 3000 rpm to 8000 rpm. Which is where you're at on the street. Its clear limited or not (Imagine the V4 unlimited, almost unridable on the street) The V4 has way more punch at those RPMs in any gear. I found I had to change down gears with the V2 more often. not to say the V2 is bad just that the V4 is better at those RPMs. Living at the higher RPMs with the V2 is not very streetwise. On the street was my point. Not to mention better display, brakes, seat, suspension, and switches which also make it better for the street.

I bought a V2 over the v4 and i rode both of them same day. I did inded end up doing a tune to the V2 which makes a huge difference. The tuned V2 makes a good amount more torque and hp from 3.5k all the way to 10K over even the up mapped V4. The v2 is purposely stunted in that rev range especially in the first few gears. Riding my tuned V2 to a stock V4, which i did (my dealer has demo bikes), the V2 feels WAY punchier in the low to id range than the V4, once you hit about 10-11k, the V4 obviously gets brutal and the V2 peters out. I will agree though, the electronic ohlins, the better switches, the sound, all of that still makes me kind of wonder if i should have spent more

@adrianbroughton97522 ай бұрын
This is the answer. I had a Panigale 959 that I bought with an exhaust, tune, and shorter gearing already on it. The bike was SORTED for the road and I really enjoyed it. I then test-rode a stock Streetfighter V2 and was surprised and disappointed at how tame it was compared to my old 959 (even though mechanically they are almost identical minus the mods). I knew how capable it could be based on my 959 engine. It was pretty clear that the Streetfighter V2 is nerfed from the factory in terms of ECU tune and gearing. I did end up buying a Streetfighter V2. Mine has the Akra exhaust and a BT-Moto tune (same as Brentune) that adds 12hp peak power but more importantly a big bump to mid-range torque (much better performance than the UpMap that comes with the Akra exhaust), and I changed my sprockets to -1 on the front and +2 on the rear. The bike is transformed now and pulls HARD through the whole rev range without feeling like it's going to yeet me when I get into high revs (like 200+hp on V4 would). It's got attitude and feels really alive now and is perfect for me, and the shift points are really well suited to the type of roads and traffic I ride. Yes I lost 30km/h top speed from the sprocket change, but it'll still reach 240km/h which is plenty. It's a bike that really deserves to come like that from the factory.
@Daves_Man_Cave Жыл бұрын
The issue with the V4 is that it's hard to use 208hp on a NAKED bike that light with a short wheelbase. I have more HP than that on my ZX14R/ZZR1400, but it's longer, lower, heavy and has a fairing. Anything over 140mph on a naked bike, isn't much fun. Over 150 and approaching 160mph is downright horrible on a naked bike that has you pitched over the front end... So having a bike that could do 190mph when you could never even get near that, seems like a waste... The V4 might be a bit better on the road, but is it really $7k better? I doubt it... The V2 seems to be the batter balance. Bit lighter, less temperamental and its a LOT cheaper, and 150hp on a lightweight naked like that is still stupid fast... Its less about whether the V4 is better, and more about whether its worth it. The Ford F150 Raptor might be better than the F150 FX4, but if you live in the city with no access to off road, is it really better and worth the extra coin?
@thefika Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing that. I had 0 issues. Im not sure what you mean by temperamental. The best thing about the V4 is you can get a low milage one for the same price as a new V2. No brainer. These things are better - More usable low down power and torque than the v2 on the street ( you don't have to rev it out like the v2) - Way more power up high too. - Virtually the same weight and handling. In fact better weight distribution. - Better suspension - Better brakes - Better seat - Better display - Better switch gear - Better sound I would still like a V2 though

I got a Ducati Monster 1200. Its time to change it, so I was test riding the V4. Fantastic bike. Not as good saddle as the monster, but very nice. I ride 500 km easy with my Monster. I think the V4 would be a little more tiresome, but not much more. The reason I will probably pick the V2 though, is price. I live in Norway and our season is only 6 months. I can't with good conscience spend that kind of money on a vehicle I can only ride for 6 months. Another point you didn't mention is how much fuel the V4 use. Makes it more expensive to use, but not the real reason I would give a point to the V2. I don't have to stop that often to fill gas. I like that I can ride longer on a tank of gas. My monster is about 300 km on a tank and the V2 is said to be 270 km, where as the V4 is 210 km. That makes a big difference in stops when you have a trip that is 2000 km long and your friends don't really need to fill fuel when the V4 has to. An interesting note is that the Monster 1200 has 118 NM torque. Love my monster, but it has 65k on the meter now and it's 8 years old. It's time for it to have a new owner ;)

Neevsy also made the statement that “if you didn’t like the old Streetfighter, you are not going to like the new (V4) Streetfighter”. That is nonsense in that the old Streetfighter was a pain to ride - clackly engine at slower speeds vs the absolute smoothness of the new V4. Which is why Ducati sold so few of the old SFs and why the new V4 is such a hot seller. I own the SFV4S and it is one of the easiest big bore bikes I have ever ridden. The smooth power delivery, the friendly throttle response and advanced electronics keep the bike stable and easy to ride under all circumstances, including in-town riding. The old Streetfighter was a pain to ride at anything other then a blistering speed. The riding position of the V4 is comfortable, with just the right amount of lean to slice through the wind. I normally trade my bikes in at about the 18 month mark for the next better bike. However, with this bike there is simply no where to go. I am not sure what could be added to make it better. In terms of the V2 version, it only makes sense for financial reasons. For Neevsy to suggest it’s “other worldliness” is only suited for the track is a ridiculous statement. It smacks of a little bit of an elitist attitude. The fact is that the electronics are such that you can ride this bike very hard and the active Olins will keep the suspension where it needs to be and the TC and wheelie control will keep you out of trouble. It’s really a very easy bike to ride - it can behave like a good urban bike or you can cane it through the twistes - it can do it all. Very versatile.

The real problem with the V2 is that it is also "too much" for the road, it's just a different kind of too much compared to the V4 (I'll be the first to touch grass and admit that anything over 121 hp (Str3) is too much for normal street use). People who think the V4 is "too much" really shouldn't be going to the V2, they should be going for the Monster, SS, or Hyper, all of which have way more bottom end than the V2 and will accordingly feel faster at street speeds too.

Hey nice video, I got the sf v2 and feel that it's not really for the road, if you want to get the power from it that you have to rev it high, 9k and more, which is useless and dangerous on the street, I'm probably giving it in for a sf v4s, hope I got that torque at low-mid revs. I also have a guzzi v9 bobber, not that powerful but that v twin is a good one, fun on the road with a good punch from low revs

I understand the need for rationalizing why you bought a 208hp fairingless superbike, but the sfv2 is already too much for the road. Turn off all rider aids and you'll do nothing but wheelies and wheelspins trying to put that much extra v4 power on the road. Believe me, I have a diavel 1260 s, which puts 124 nm at 4500 rpm (the point at which the sfv4 dyno chart starts) and its outright unsafe to ride without aids.

Couldn’t disagree with you (and hence agree with the professional reviewers) more… If all you want is lazy torque, buy a BMW GS! It’s a far better road bike again than a Streetfighter V4… Many of us want a sense of engagement, a feeling of harmony between man and machine. The SFV2 is still an incredibly quick bike, but many of us mere mortals can get somewhere near that bikes potential, whereas the V4’s potential is so much higher that it’s irrelevant to most people. I tour 2up quite a bit, I wanted a fun bike with loads of torque, (me, my missus and some luggage is over 200kg) so I bought a KTM 1290SAS for that purpose. I can be lazy with it and it’s still huge fun. For the Streetfighter, it’s very much a solo bike, the pillion pegs aren’t even on mine. I wanted something that made me feel like I was getting the most out of the bike, that the engine wasn’t dominating the package, and that everything felt incredibly well balanced… Having owned V4 Tuono’s, MT-10’s, 1290’s and ridden V4 Ducati’s, the SFV2 is very much the more enjoyable road bike for the reasons I describe…

I disagree that the v4 better for the road, im currently owned a v2 streetfighter, i had tried a v4 before purchasing my v2. Im currently living in china right now, with the traffic and population in guangdong china i be really happy if i can get get on 2nd gear of the v4, as we all know ducati has a bad name for low speed riding, the bike chock on gear, with average speed around 40 - 50km in a city ride v2 is happy with the 2nd gear, but v4 i be stuck between 1st and 2nd. Also the heat, v4 generate so much hear and almost cook my dingdong during traffic and at the light, but v2 has none of that issue, is the coolest ducati i had ride. As u mention the brakes and shocks are better because v4 is a much powerful bike so of cos is better equipped but doesn't just mean better for road, it also better for track. V2 come with stock brembo m4 calipers is really enough for the road. Also i feel the v2 is bit more nimble than then v4, is little bit slimer which can get in between traffic bit better, but that r just my experience 😅

Rode the v2 and v4s back to back yesterday, same part urban part country loop. Reinforces everything you said when you posted this. The V4 is much nicer in urban riding, and has a precision in brakes and suspension the V2 does not. The v2 has a less well fuelled feeing, which is (I guess) really how the electronic throttle is set up - snatchy when coming off a closed throttle, say when going right around a roundabout. Money aside, V4 vastly better than the V2. The under-seat heat issue was less of an issue on the V4 than the V2 (rode in about 24c, speeds urban to say 110kph), but still more of an issue than my 17/18 s1000r. As you say both StreetFighter are great BUT the better road machine is the V4.

No one has said a Streetfighter V4 is a bad road Michael Neaves said in his long term report it was a good bike. What they are saying is it isn’t as fun a bike as the V2 and you did not address this in your argument. The torque part even proves what the journalists have to say. I have been luck to own many Ducati’s and Ducati powered Bimota’s I still have my DB8 which has a flat torque curve is super light and the last of the true analog bikes is it fun to ride, no. Do I love owning it, yes. You can’t ride it as a fast as it wants to go on the road and you don’t want to risk it on a track so it just isn’t relevant anymore. Is it a good road bike well it is as good as any other superbike in road trim. So the question they are answering is a V2 more fun on the road than a V4 and they are saying it is. You are arguing if it’s a better road bike which you define as it’s ability to ride on the road and having ridden both they are very much the same and you don’t need to spend the 40% more to get a V4. I think you need to ride both of them and then ask yourself which is more fun
@thefika2 жыл бұрын
The V4 is more fun for me. I have had a few guys in the comments that have a V2. They agree with me. One even said because all the power is up the top end with the V2 its not fun to ride on the road.

It’s interesting that people say this as Ducati restrict power on the V4 in 12 &3 to that of a V2. I think this has always been the way of people and power tell someone that 200bhp show them a dyno run in 5th where there are no restrictions and they believe they are are on a better bike. I guess that’s the difference between people that have raced and have a lot of experience riding and people up at the cafe. They are both lovely things though

FIKA. The torque data is simply wrong. This is what’s wrong with KZbin. Inaccurate clickbate. You know the data is incorrect, but you don’t fix the video. Sad really. How about researching the torque setting units before posting? Having said that, your opinion is solid and has good merit. Lower torque is better for the street. I haven’t decided which one to buy and your video did influence me. It’s not 45nm vs 100nm down low. It’s 75nm vs 100nm down low. That is a very different proposition. The low 75nm of torque in the V2 is flat and more predictable than the raging bull of the V4 that just keeps climbing. Great work spoiled by bad data. Fly in the ointment.

Well the only thing you are right about, is that the V4 has better torque, and if its all about torque why not buy the 1290 Super Duke, or the Kawasaki ZH2? Both got much better torque than the V4. Yes the V4 got better brakes, and suspension than the V2, for the track that is :) The fact is that the V2 have plenty of stopping power and less aggressive, so better for the road. The suspension setup is for the road. It got plenty of torque for the road between 3000 and 8000 rpm, and you dont have to downshift all the time. It got a slimmer rear tyre, and no winglets, and a bit lighter, so it is more argyle, better for the road. The V2 power delivery is smoother, and you can twist the throttle much more than the V4, so more suitable for the road. The V2 has better fuel economy, and a bigger fuel tank = much longer range, better for the road. Seat, switches and display are all about your personal opinion. I admit that the V4 is a fantastic bike, and better than the V2, just not for the road :)

Nah, get base tuono, it's more comfy than factory and even cheaper than sfv2 🤣 After riding them all back to back SFV4 feels like it has very little torque compared to tuono, have to rev it to the moon and go wot to go anywhere. V2 is extremely underwhelming and absolutely gutless until 8k rpm (at lower rpms it feels like it's about to die, so you basically have to be in lower gears at all times), or so in addition to having a vibrating seat, laughable brakes, suspension, screen with no fuel gauge or cruise control for that kind of money. That superquadro would only work fine on the track, totally pointless on the street with how high and narrow the power band is. V2 is a bit more engaging to ride than sfv4 though.

@@thefika yeah, sfv4 is good in its own right, I'm sure it would only feel down on usable torque compared to tuono/superduke/zh2 (perhaps speed triple and mt-10 as well), I don't like that Ducati v4 sound at all, so that didn't help, it does feel smoother at lower revs than aprilia's v4 (perhaps not having as much torque helps there), aprilia has a much smoother feeling quick shifter and transmission in general . Sfv4 is very fast, just doesn't give that "year your arms off" sensation like tuono does, have to rev it out, with tuono I can be at partial throttle and short shift because the mid range is extremely strong whereas Ducati is more about top end. SFV2 is underwhelming even compared to middleweight nakeds with less power, they just make more power and torque everywhere compared to sfv2 which revs higher than something like 890 duke R that also has shorter gearing. Honestly that superquadro is underwhelming even compared to my 690 SMC r.
