Fidel Castro was obsessed with dairy, especially ice cream. Reports say that he would sometimes eat 18 scoops in a sitting. Thats a reason the ice cream is so good in Havana.

I have to give it to you Keenan, your love for the Cubans is admirable. I too, have been to Cuba and also love the people. People are Cuba! It has been many years since I have been there but still stay in touch with friends. The last I was there was not as bad economically as it is now. My friend, a doctor, quit because her superiors would not help clean the facility. It simply was unsanitary. I have been outside of Havana into the country side, I would love to see some videos of that if you could make it.

He purchases food that is delivered directly to those still in Cuba, through an established service. I do feel bad for the people of Cuba, so much suffering!

I used to know Havana like the back of my hand but with covid and my Cuban brother passing March 2020, I haven't found much reason to subject myself to more hardship than one normally sees in Havana. I was going to do an all - inclusive at the Melia Santiago but was told the food there ain't a whole lot better.

Questions: Why didn't you take Norris to La Coppelia for an ice cream. He could even pay gringo prices and bypass the lineup, then again that would mean passing up the opportunity to meet the person in front of you. Why are you drinking ron blanco ? i am considering makine a rum run to stock up on the Ron Santiago anejo. For $7.65, there is not a better drink in the world for the price. For me, it is the best continuously produced rum in the world, followed closely by Flor de Cana. Zacapa is well rated too but pricier than the first 2 and a little sweeter than i like

I just got back from cuba a couple weeks ago. It was totally different than what I expected. I loved the fact everything was so cheap compared to the US. The women were absolutely beautiful and they do love black men lol. The amount of poor is just sad and the fact the government live so much better is ridiculous. But everyone seemed to be pretty happy considering some of the conditions they were living in. I did get sick from something I ate but I had a great trip and would recommend people go at least once in their lives.

I am astounded by the number of people on video eating street food ! Hell, I wouldn't eat most of the food from restaurants/paladars. HINT: Bring your own condiments as the ketchup, mustard etc may be watered down to stretch it.

In a country that cooks the heck out of everything, the one thing you sometimes get waaay undercooked is a hamburger. I dunno how that works but eating something like that will make you sick ...plus the tap water that they used to thin out the mustard and ketchup

I have tentative plans to visit Cuba late Jan 2024. I would like to take some toiletries, feminine products, powdered milk and egg crystals(good). I have donated to me some really nice used clothing I've laundered. I have in my Walmart and Amazon carts Tylenol, ibuprofen, stomach meds and vitamins, school supplies. I assemble bags for the homeless here at home so I decided to do the same if I visit Cuba as planned. DO YOU THINK I WILL HAVE A PROBLEM AT CUSTOMS? I know 12/31/2023 is a bench mark on if they will extend deadline to allow tourist to bring in items to help. Any advice for me?
