"When you die of cancer, the cancer dies too". What a line, and absolutely true. The lyrics here are unreal.
@DarrenInTheDust2 жыл бұрын
This line is so powerful. Helps me a lot coping with the loss of my dad who introduced me to The Streets
@moosesnWoop Жыл бұрын
The line is well constructed along with the music. It's very stoic in it's delivery, as "a matter of fact" rather than a suggestion. That momentary pause and then the beat coming back in so solid makes the listener feel like "well that's life I guess, huh - just dance" Very well constructed.

Can I say I had a similar upbringing. Dad was military, so I lived in England from ages 1-7, then moved to Texas, but my brother and I always felt we missed that British side of our childhood. Then someone showed my brother “Blinded by the Lights” when he was about 16, I was 12. So I grew up in Texas loving Mike Skinner, and none of my Texas friends understood how good The Streets were. Mike is so good, upsetting that he’s not more popular in the states.

Absolutely love Mike and the streets .... I'm here from OPM days .... Growing up listerning to the streets has been like having a big brother showing you what's to come .... From drying .y eyes at 14 because I'd even dumped till seeing my own blip on a screen and learning that a grand don't come for free ..... And it was supposed to be so easy ..... Cheers guys keep up the banging beats big love
@adcad15242 жыл бұрын
Beautifully put and exactly my experience too. I was 14 when OPM came out and Mike Skinner basically told me my future and with each new track has continued to either sum up my experiences or my future. To paraphrase the legend, Mike Skinner is the man on high and his music is the gift!

2:17 are the best lyrics in this track. Very real, very stoic - no bs. "none of us will win if I have to fight you, cancer dies when you die too" then the beat just drops in and you're like "what? huh? man that's life" and then the hook comes in and you start dancing again and living in the moment. Very powerful, Mike's been a huge influence on the way i think about life growing up.

Been on a bit of 'The Streets' nostalgia trip recently, I just want to say, sometimes it's alright to just say a song just slaps and not have it be about important points in your life. My favourite line was a 'a snake sheds their skin to become a bigger snake' Oh and that look at 1:04 right after the line '....but you knew who was next', classic.
