A lot of names are repeated for other stuff in Naruto but no one really references this. For example, Kurama is the name of the Nine Tails and also the name a genjutsu clan. Kiba is the name of the ninja hound user and also the name of swords belonging to the Seven Swordsmen. Kaguya is name of an Otsutsuki and also the name of Kimimaro's clan. Hagaromo is the Sage of Six Paths and also the name of a clan from during warring states period during Hashirama and Madara's younger days. I just thinks it's a little weird nobody mentions this in the story.

That is because Kiba more or less means "Fang", so it can be used for shortswords or swords with fanglike attributes, just as you can use it as the name for a boy in a dog herding clan :P. Same theory goes for the Kaguya and Hagoromo clans. Those are named that way, because they have ancestry going back to them, and share one of their abilities. Like the uchiha did inherit Indras abilities, and the Senju and Uzumaki did inherit Asuras. Those two clans are probably from some watered down bloodline descending from asura or indra. The Kaguya clan only inherited the Shikotsumyaku ability, to control their bone structure, a weaker version of the ability kaguya displayed, coating it in black, to create withering rods. Just like Jugos Clan, and their exposure to Ryuchi Cave that Orochimaru uncovered, seems to be what triggered their heritage, of having bodies that are more atune to taking in natural energy, but lacking the control they need over it, to not go berserk. So they are most likely somehow linked to Asura and his body that already had a higher life force capability, and was further enhanced by Hagoromo endorsing him with the remainder of his Sage of Six Paths powers. So while there is a common multi use of names, it usually never happens without some connection that either gets pointed out, hinted towards, or can be explained by the names inherent meaning :D.

@@MrHikagemono The Kiba blades were dual wielded by two different Seven Swordsmen, Ameyuri Ringo and Raiga Kurosuki. Out of the two, Naruto only fought Raiga and being the clown he is I feel like he would have pointed out that the swords are named after his friend Kiba or something like that. It definitely sounds like a Naruto thing to do.

I remember that arc. Yakomo's genjutsu was real for lack of a better term. It was an illusion. What ever she decided to make happened, it was real. The idea of it was so devastating. If Yakomo would have painted a picture of a village and erased it, that village would dissappear for real.

Only if she got someone to enter the genjutsu I will explain : Yakumo is Genjutsu can be materialised in real life or have real repercution in the real world only if she got someone to enter her Genjutsu as a example In the first episodes where Naruto met Yakumo ( the girl) the thunder cloud materialised only when Naruto witness the difference between what she was painting and reality ( that is when he was inside the Genjutsu ) So basically she stll need to trap someone inside her illusion to have any effect ( it's a cool drew back )

If she was into genjutsu as well, couldn’t she technically use it as anesthetic? So when she heals people I’m battle, she puts them under it and they can’t feel the pain till she’s healed them? I feel like Kurenai was a wasted character, she should have been a member of the Chinoike clan who left her village and didn't unlock her full powerset. I always wondered why her eyes were red outside of the Uchidas. The Chinoikes should have been a bigger deal, they could have just made the Chinoikes and Kuramas the same clan instead that keep popping up as a threat.

I was really impressed when I watched the arc. Genjutsu that makes itself real? Heavy stuff. I never made the connection between it and Creation of all Things because I don’t think it is the same effect. Technically speaking, I don’t think we ever saw her use the genjutsu to create anything other than an illusion, or to destroy something. Creation of all Things does just that, create all things. The ability to destroy isn’t technically a part of it. So perhaps the ability to turn your genjutsu into a destructive force is a separate ability that doesn’t require Otsutsuki chakra, but is equivalent and opposite to Creation of all Things

The thing about fillers it's that they don't explore all the possibilities. Maybe that genjutsu have limitations, like, she can't directly affect living things with that jutsu (similar to how Ishiki's abilities to make things smaller can't be used on living things); or that it expands way more chakra then materializing a lighting (thus she tried to erase Kurenai for half an episode, slowly, instead of killing her). And, yes, it's filler, they can basically put one-punch-man in a filler and then, that would be the "strongest person in Narutoverse". I'm not sure about being the strongest genjutsu user with what we saw either, like, Itachi killed Izumi by putting her in a tsukuyomi for 80 years, where she lived her whole life with Itachi, had kids and then died peacefully. And, he consumed around half his chakra for this, meaning that he can potentially put people in 160 years worth of Tsukuyomi with only one charge. If he can damage them as much as he did with Kakashi in 48 hours, that would be enough to kill almost 30 000 people! (also, after learning about Itachi, it's clear he never intended to kill Kakashi, who is an important pillow in Konohagakure). And, don't forget that Izanagi rewrites the whole universe, in both space and time, even if it's for a couple of minutes, and have limitations, I think it still qualifies as the strongest genjutsu there can be! And regarding Kotoamatsukami, it is known that Sharingan abilities used by their original owner, used with both eye-pair, are stronger, so I have the impression that the Kotoamatsukami casted by Shisui Uchiha would be much stronger then the one used by Danzo, and possibly impossible to break, by simply physically rewiring the brain of the target. Why else would he try to use the ability on the chef of the Uchiha Clan, who is an Uchiha at a Kage-level with Mongekyo Sharingan awoken, surrounded by a ton of Uchihas who could check his chakra and brake him free of the genjutsu? Oh, and let's not forget about Izanami, if Izanagi can change the destiny of the user, Izanami can DECIDE the destiny of it's target. And the target can either be trapped forever in the loop (oh, well, until they die); or, can "accept their destiny", which basically is not much different then Kotoamatsukami (but can be used by any Uchiha in exchange for one eye). Yeah, I'm not saying that I'm happy they overloaded the Uchiha clan with God-like genjutsu and ninjutsu, in my opinion the first series was superior in keeping most clans relevant with their unique abilities. In Shippuden was all about Uchiha and Senju, making the whole Naruto-verse look much, much, smaller. Like, the whole world basically became Konoha, and the whole Konoha basically became Uchiha and Senju.

I always loved Genjutsu. I have this thing i do where i create a character for every anime i really love, back story, abilities, appearence etc etc, i digress. But My character for Naruto used a scent based genjutsu paired with the ability to make his genjutsu abilities "come to life" or be made real using a special type of pure white chakra specific to his clan, and is a kekkei tota. I know, i'm a nerd and a weeb and have too much time on my hands. But its a fun little exercise i do. See how in depth i can create this character from the ground up and insert "him" or in some cases "her" into whatever anime im watching at the time.

Someone can fall under Genjutsu via one of the 5 senses. Has there been any occurrence where smell and taste was used? We've seen it done visually (infinite tsukuyomi), auditory (toads), and through touch (Chinoike clan).

You mean, only smell and only taste? Tsukuyomi (and, of course, Mugen Tsukuyomi) traps ALL senses a person have (which on top on the classic 5, you can add proprioception, pain, equilibrioception). For example, Itachi gave Izumi a whole 80 years life with genjutsu, obvious trapping all her senses.

@@danielclv97 Activated only by one. Like Tsukuyomi usually traps a person via sight first (even if someone doesn't look at Itachi in the eyes they still end up in a genjutsu). Jiraiya's toads' genjutsu activated when Pain heard it. And the Chinoike clan use sight and touch to activate their genjutsu. Have there been occurrences that genjutsu is activated through taste or smell?

Would love to hear your best squad for taking down Otsosuki with currently alive characters. Mine is: Naruto (obvious reasons) Sasuke (^same but give this man an arm and Shin's Mongekyo for space time ninjutsu) Orochimaru (his instant healing and jutsu mastery) Kabuto (sage mode and healing) Jugo (could take hits from A and live and can heal others and he innately uses sage chakra, granted he is nerfed big time in Boruto) Killer B (if not nerfed in Boruto would be strong and fast enough to help) Gara (can seal and has decent defense, would be a good back up) Toneri (if they can unseal him that is) I know Orochimaru and Kabuto could also use Edo Tensei but I don't see them actually doing that.

@@starshooter2470 so Naruto, Orochimaru, Kabuto, Killer B, Tonerie, and Jugo don't need to be healed that much unless it's lethal damage which Sakura couldn't stop anyways. Sasuke and Gara could use it, if their defenses get broken through, but Kabuto and Jugo (and maybe Orochimaru) are there and can heal better as they can replace entier organs/limbs if they are lost as Sakura could only repair damage done but not completely replace stuff. Plus they are better fighters and faster (again Jugo got nerfed in Boruto so maybe not). I just didn't find it necessary to add her.

Genjutsu & Eight Gates would complement Tsunade and Sakura's combat style. You need perfect chakra control for Medical Ninjutsu, Chakra Enhanced Strength (CES), and Genjutsu. Imagine Tsunade or Sakura using A & S class Genjustu such as Bringer of Darkness or Kurenai's Binging Tree Genjustu along with Eight Gates enhanced Chakra Scalpels or CES punches! They would literally be God of Shinobi level!

Imagine if Yakimo was a cannon character and was friends with the Konoha 13 then married Rock Lee, the abilities on Metal Lee would be massively insane. one of the worlds's greatest Taijutsu masters mixed with the world's most talented (non ocular) Genjutsu. If Metal couldn't get close enough to you to he could make it happen with his genjutsu. each ability compensating for the other's weaknesses but let's be glad that didn't happen because the whole being possessed by your own Id would not help with Metal's stage fright and anxiety

Shisui’s Koto is the only plot hole that keeps me up at night. He was only 14-16 years old when he died. That would mean he’d have to awaken his MS at 4-6 years old to test out the 10 year thing. But Ao was able to decipher that Hanzo was under Shisui’s genjutsu due to fighting against him in the 3rd Great Ninja War. This would mean that Shisui had used Koto in the War. But he also planned to use Koto on Fugaku, which would’ve been less than 10 years. My brain always hurts over this.

My understanding is that the ten year cool down is for ppl who aren’t Shisui it don’t have Hashirama cells. Like how Kakashi can’t use the sharigan to its fullest because he’s not a Uchiha (same with Ao’s Byakugan)

For shishui the cooldown for koto is only 1 day. For others using his eyes they need hashirama cells to get that 1 day cooldown. Or else it'll be 10 years.

I’m pretty sure the whole 10 year thing doesn’t apply to Shisui. Danzo isn’t an Uchiha, and the Sharingan is natural to Shisui, snd Shisui pros it has a bigger chakra reserve than Danzo. Shisui likely can use Kotoamatsukami in a much shorter cooldown time since it’s natural for him. Also Shisui using genjutsu on Hanzo couldve just been a normal genjutsu and not Kotoamatsukami.

The entirety of naruto had super plot armor since the moment madara was reanimated, he could spam boulders, spam susanoo, spam his mangekyou abilities, spam his rinnegan abilities, so basically shoot almighty push like a machine gun, he could coat the 1000 hand wood statue in susanoo, he could straight up just almighty pull everyone to one spot and then cut them with his susanoo, he had uchiha flames, he was so goddamn busted as a reanimation, he already did stab sasuke and could’ve killed him, actually sasuke did die but got revived cause plot armor, madara dodged the fastest shinobi(s) in history and somehow some way black zetsu manages to back stab madara six paths two rinnegan with 4 limbo clones, imagine if madara got everyone’s chakra from infinite tsukuyomi then kills both naruto and sasuke, hell they might both be under genjutsu since the moment they actually died and boruto is a genjutsu
