Is it just me or does anyone else think this is closer to the classic London Stout Porter style? Also, the production method for this and a lot of other foreign Guinness is bonkers & brilliant, literally a Guinness concentrate that’s added to a neutral beer at the brewery (this is lifted straight off Wiki): Guinness Flavour Extract, a dehydrated, hopped wort extract made from barley malt and roasted barley, is used for overseas production of the stout. The syrup is shipped from Ireland, where it is added at the ratio of 1:49 to locally brewed pale beer. In most overseas markets, Guinness Flavour Extract (GFE) is blended with locally brewed beer to produce FES.

Me and my friend have a bottle of this after a couple cans of guinness draught at the weekend. Once i had the bottle of FES first then when going back to guinness draught it tasted watered down in comparison. For me its the richer flavour in this that i really enjoy, i love the taste of original guinness but this is so much more denser and richer. Foreign extra is liked in jamaica, gambia and nigeria. Probably other places but these places I know for sure. They have a brewery in nigeria also. maybe more than one I don't know. It's more standardly drunk than normal strength guiness think its practical cos it keeps longer, so deals with the heat of these places better... and we just fukn love it mate. I know some man that pour a shot of 63% wray and nephews white rum into a bottle and drink that, and have like 2 or 3 of those in the night o: I will have about 3 or 4 of these FES bottles on a long night at the pub though. without the wrays of course. Most pubs don't acutally sell them either. Only where carribean/african people frequent really.

Guinness Foreign Extra has an interesting history and for many years it was my drink of choice, until I had to give up drinking. Good draught Guinness is and always will be where it’s at but, as a Nigerian cab driver said to me, “nothing in my country happens without Guinness”. Foreign Extra is a whole different drink and the Nigerian version, which can be distinguished by the gold foil top, is a bit richer and sweeter. You need to drink it very cold and you will get a taste for it. If you’ve never tried Jamaican Guinness punch then PM me; you need to.
