Rengoku's character represent a true sumarai spirit of duty and also the way he represent justice, which Tanjiro has carried on ever since. It was awesome to see that iconic quote comeback as one of the catalyst for his mark. I also like Gyomei's thinking behind his training, because stances are essential in swordsmanship or any form martial arts and I still remember how even Akaza got goosebumps from seeing that magnificent aura coming off Rengoku after he took his last stance (Esoteric art).

For Gyomei hiding by the tree when Tanjiro was training, I think he keeps tabs on all the people who are training and he’s likely keeping a closer eye on Tanjiro since he is able to manifest his mark consistently.
