Sad fact: Sayo never shows back up in the manga, but some bonus content revealed that she actually was trying to say the demon killed everyone, but since she was too shaken up to say it properly and the demon already burned away, everyone thought she meant Gyomei. She still feels guilty about it to this day and wants to reunite with him to apologize

I don't know if this is 100% cannon or intentional, but some people pointed out a theory that a reason for his smokiness at the end wasn't just intimidating dramatic aura.. But that he is slightly burning from all the wisteria... But of course, has almost no real affect on Muzan.

More detail about Sayo(the little girl): the author added in that she hadn't meant Gyomei she meant the demon, but she was 4 and in shock so she couldn't properly express herself yet and regrets that Gyomei was arrested over it to this day THE PAIN🥹

There's in extra page in the manga that is Sayo (the lil girl) of her pov that says this "According to Sara's account of the demon attack, That man," was a "monster" who killed everyone, but by that man," she meant the demon who snuck into the temple, not Hime jima. However, the demon had burned up in the morning sun, and Sayo couldn't speak properly due to shock from the incident, so she couldn't dispel the suspicion that fell on Himejima. Even now, at age 14, Sayo worries about that and wishes she could apologize."
