Walrein is constantly ranked highly in nuzlockes and regular playthroughs alike, so I think it deserves to be the best Ice type for Gen III Hoenn.

Yeah. It just takes so much effort to get a Regice in comparison to just catching a Spheal and levelling it up to Walrein. And besides, it has a really bad learnset, so you need to use TM's in order for it to be anything good. I sure love my Regice learning Curse (which boosts his physical side when his special is much better), Superpower, Explosion, Hyper Beam and Ancient Power (all of which are physical while is has a mere 50 base Attack). He only learns Icy Wind as his only stab move.

Weavile is the best Ice type ever created. Not only is it badass looking but it’s also adorable at the same time. I wish Gamefreak can give the player the Razor Claw item a bit earlier in the game rather than being somewhat of a late game item.

For Black/White, I did make good use of Vanilluxe. It isn’t a great mon, but it has a powerful Ice Beam, Steel moves for countering Ice types, and is useful in the final parts of the game.

For ORAS, it’s actually Froslass. You farm a Dawn Stone from the reverse battles in Mauville, then get yourself a female Snorunt.

How to boost the Ice type: Add a resistance against Grass, Flying and Water or just make Water an immunity all together because Ice is just frozen water. Also I think one weakness of Ice should be erased. My pick would be fighting because Fighting is still with 4 types pretty good offensively. This would be massive boost to all Ice Pokémon! :-)

They should make Hail boost it's defense or special defense too, the same way Sandstorm boosts rock types. Or make it like rain/sun for ice moves and power them up in the hail. Aside from giving Blizzard 100% accurate and damaging non-Ice pokemon, it really doesn't provide much benefits the way the other weather effects do.

Mamoswine still runs the risk to get outsped by Garchomp. A good weavile will outspeed it even if underleveled.

@@M4x_P0w3r I have used Mamoswine multiple times and the only time Garchomp has taken me out is via Iron Head or Flamethrower or a crit. Mamosine has a lot more bulk than people think.

In Pokemon Sage fangame (which was not released yet) you start in a snowy Town and the first Gym being Ice Type. Sad GF did not do something similar in Any of their games.

You can hunt for hidden abilities in oras with the dexnav and HA glalie WRECKS in the game, especially as a mega after a few stat raises (i used Return and special moves so if Moody raises attack and not special attack i can use that physical stab). But

In regards to Darmanitan, you don't have to wait to get it at all; Darumaka can be gotten just as early as Swinub in the Wild Area with a Wishing Piece. There are a few Max Raid Dens where Darumaka is a 1-star encounter, some of them common dens, and with the Digging Bros for an Ice Stone, Gorilla Tactics Darmanitan can be on your team before the opening ceremony. And if you have Crown Tundra and don't mind grinding Dynite Ore for an Ability Patch, the same can be said for Zen Mode.

Galarian darmanitan isn’t necessarily a ‘late game’ option due to the way the Dynamax raids scale to the number of badges you have. As long as you’re able to access bridge field and the parts of the wild area beyond it (regardless of whether you can catch the wild overworld encounters yet), and as long as you’re very careful... the raid den right up against the big boulder in Giant’s Cap can have Galarian Darumaka in Snow/Snowstorms if you go in pretty much as soon as bridge field is accessible. Just to be safe, stock up on a few wishing pieces in case what’s in the den the first time isn’t Darumaka.

In Sun and Moon, you actually can get Alolan Vulpix and Sandshrew in Tapu Village around the time you take on Acerola's trial. And then you can find the Ice Stone to evolve them to the left of the Shady House in Po Town.

You can find Cubchoo earlier than twist mountain, on route 7 if you play during Winter. So you can train it up for your battle against Skylar. If you don't play during winter just change the month on your ds since there's no penalty for it in Gen 5

As much I love Mamoswine, my favorite Ice Type, I still went Darmanitan in Shield. Granted I got a Zen Mode traded to me, but Mamoswine would have been my second choice. Since legendary pokemon do count for this list (see Regice), Articuno is the best ice-type in generations 1 and 2.

FYI, Walrein is good in Ruby and Sapphire which quite a bit off in Emerald since it is only useful against Drake again, much bulkier and have Thick Fat ability which halves the damage from Fire and Ice moves (Glacia), can massacre all of Drake's pokemon and super effective against Steven's Aggron, Claydol, Cradily and Armaldo. It is good since you can get a Lvl 31 Spheal or Lvl 32-34 Sealeo in Shoal Cave and evolve it at Lvl 44 immediately before facing the E4. What Regice can do? It's catchable in the post game and it sucks TBH. I can battle it during battle frontier tho but I can get the symbols without it tho.

Well, actually Regice is catchable before the postgame. But is nonetheless the worse of the two. Harder to catch, worse movepool, worse typing, slower and his only noteworthy stat is the Special Defense

Personally I would've said Lapras for Crystal as well unless you save before collecting the Egg from the Daycare Man, Cubchoo can be obtained on Route 7 in Winter in Black and White, and as for Jynx in USUM, Smoochum has a chance of calling in a Jynx through SOS

I feel GameFreak does cold areas late to give us a counter to Dragon Types which are to strong of a type to counter early on. Later in the games we should have strong teams to counter strong dragons, but the give us cold areas with Ice types to counter Dragons if we don't have anything to reliable

Can someone answer this question? Idk how this happened but I'm playing pokemon crystal and I started where i left off at the route before victory road. And my Donphan somehow turned into the Raichu that's on my team. Now i have 2 Raichus. How did that happen??? No i didn't even intentionally clone throughout the whole game I don't understand why my Donphan turned into my Raichu. This sucks because I had Donphan learn Rest as part of its moveset. Do I have to start all over?
