As many of you know, we are also fans of ‪@ProjectFarm‬ but unfortunately we didn't get an invite to the party when he tested out the 1/4 inch ratchets, we were kinda bummed about that. So, we decided to have our own little ratchet breaking party to see how we stand against the competition. We put the VIM Tools HDR410 to the ultimate test, We will let the results speak for themselves...

To be fair I believe Project Farm had never heard of VIM Tools when he did the ratchet test. I think Luis reached out to Project Farm and introduced VIM to Project Farm. I myself do love VIM Tools!

Yes, I'd LOVE a basic chrome handle and a locking flex head. I'm pretty much over buying any other kind of ratchet. I may try a Vim indexing head to see if I will settle for that, though.

gotta try these ratchets out. Was wondering about the handles but after using comfort grip and the plain handles from snap on I definitely like the bigger comfort grip. These might be even better. Thanks for producing great tools fellas keep innovating.

@@JJJobsonyou'll damage the square inside the socket also. Don't go over 30 foot pounds with a 1/4 socket unless you like warranting or buying tools. I don't go over 12mm with 1/4 and then I don't have to worry about it.

I actually really like the handle on my 3/8 vim ratchet and am interested in the 1/4 inch since that's my main ratchet for airplanes. But while the failure load is supper important to me my main question is actually how the backdrag and working arc swing are on this product. ps the 3/8 vim is my go to ratchet over all my other including snap on and others and is what I use for my high torque ratcheting application on reciprocating engines I like way the ratchet handle transmits force over my whole hand comfortably

LET'S GO VIM TOOLS..(And Mr Clay)..🏁 A switch that is easy to flip from forward to reverse and back again is a weak switch that will change direction when you don't want it to..it isn't a good metric it's a bad metric..but in some KZbin tester tests they score it as a positive thing...IT ISN'T 😅

Good Job Clay ! Finally something gets broken ...lol ... No Really , I watch almost every one of those project farm videos and I was wondering what goes into him chosing what tools to check for the failure rate ..... Is it really what ratchets or tools he can find/buy from Amazon .....That can abe a very biased way of testing things , but i do not make the rules , just pointing it out . I will ask him on one of the next videos he makes reguarding things of that nature . I really like the way you did it with the wrench extender, I think you have a better control to the handle then using a pipe . I think it is alot better than seeing Michael jumping on a pipe like he got mexican jumping beans in his pocket or something like that ....LMAO !! Keep em coming ...Clay !

Yeah, since his channel is dying because he doesn't work on anything anymore, and he doesnt have Bill or Wally, he got a tool company to start paying him to be a talking head for them. I knew this was gonna happen when he hit 100k subscribers. Every single youtube channel goes to crap when that happens because they start getting sponsored by someone and all the magic of the channel goes away..

I’m hoping the 1/4” ratchet I got in my SMS400 1/4” set is just a dud. Anvil just kinda moves all over. Sent them an email with video Wednesday. Hoping I can get it replaced. It feels great in hand. The sockets are AWESOME.

Vim ratchets definitely perform, no doubt about it, but the handle is why I haven't purchased them yet. I just can't get passed that handle. It's great on screwdrivers, picks, upholstery clip tools, and others, but it's just not good for a ratchet handle.

Sorry for this comment, but it’s just how I feel. Not a big fan of the handle or the price compared to Gearwrench and others. And you only compared one number from Project Farm? That’s what makes his videos valuable: multiple aspects of a tool. I have some VIM tools and frankly they all feel like overpriced rebrands.

How often has any actual mechanic brought out an attachment to multiply torque on a 1/4" ratchet instead of switching to 3/8" ratchet? In over 20 years, I never did.
@stans5270
@stans5270 2 ай бұрын
Calling out Project Farm for not including a rachet that is ONLY found in one chain store [and it's not even one that normal people visit] is disingenuous. Your "Authorized Dealers" are who? Over 95% are just ambiguous names. That doesn't instill confidence. You included only one test. - WHY? You didn't apply the same testing technique as other ratchets had to endure. - WHY? You only were the best in ONE of five categories [and that is up for debate]. I've NEVER used a 1/4 ratchet for over 50 foot-pounds of torque so for you to base people buying them on one singular criteria, you don't know what actual mechanics want. SMH
