It's wrong at 1:18 because it shows adenosine phosphate but the label is "adenine". Likewise with the other three nucleotides, which are incorrectly labelled, respectively, "guanine", "thymine", and "cytosine". Thus, nucleotides are conflated with bases.
@professorchimp12 жыл бұрын
@@matthewbartsh9167 You are correct. Thank you for commenting on that, it made me realize that ADP and ATP are the same as a nucleotide with an adenine base but with one and two more phosphates added. Biology is awesome.
@matthewbartsh91672 жыл бұрын
@@professorchimp1 Your appreciation is appreciated. I'm glad I was of some help. Looking at my comment I see that I wrote "adenosine phosphate", which is correct, but not as precise as "adenosine monophosphate", and now I wish I'd written the latter. Adenosine monosphosphate is also known as AMP. Also, I noticed another mistake, or at least that's how I see it, at 2:10 where it says, "the DNA backbone" which I think is misleading, although a very common way of talking. As I see it, it should be "one of the two backbones", "the strand backbone", or "the DNA strand backbone", because each DNA molecule, having two strands, has two "backbones", one for each strand. Perhaps better still would be to talk of two ladder rails, each with a set of half rungs, that joined together form a complete ladder with two ladder rails joined by rungs, each rung being a base pair.

This video is really amazing! SERIOUSLY! This is the best video I've found which took it's time to explain DNA from A to Z on the visual side !!! I seriously applaud whoever or the group of people who created this video!!!! I can sense a great level of care and passion was taken place while doing this video. We need more instructors, videos as these in the world. For the most part, science is so compacted, it must be taught carefully and in finer details. Some people lose their interest because of inpatient instructors, or lack of effort from the well knowledgeable teachers, researchers and so forth. Some people also may think because someone doesn't understand a certain material or materials, they are incompetent, unable to succeed but the truth is not everyone's brain functions the same. Some people might know how to draw a sun on paper with a marker in two seconds and can't easily understand photosynthesis. Others may not even know where to start to draw a sun on paper with a marker but can understand photosynthesis right away.

Now if you look at the glass from one side, you get the C atoms numbered counterclockwise, and the 5' to 3' prime direction going left to right (on the top polymer); if you look at it from the other side, you get the C atoms numbered clockwise and the 5' to 3' direction going right to left!
