This is real! I remember i got a new job as i was exiting the first trimester and it was in a school. I'm glad i didn't get the job prior because the nausea was so bad i was in bed most of the day. By the time it got to the end of the 2nd trimester i had to take an earlier maternity leave. All the step climbing and working with young children got to me. I hear you on mums shouldering a lot more. My hubby is very involved but our son is so attached and comes to me all the time. That mental load is a lot whew!!

alot of things need to be put inti context and even the expereince of modern women is not the same accross the nationality, race and even social status. in an African context women have always work outside the house dpepnding on their social and econmic status. if you were the daughter or wife of a farmer, you both tilt the land and both harvest it, if your spouse was a fisherman, you might not to on the boat fishing with men but you worked on shore, if you father was a scholar, you might teach the women in the palace etc so when people say women didn't work, actually the modern woman whois a product of the industrial revolution stayed at home. because the women who sells in the market from the sunrise till dawn is working, sadly even intelligent African people seems not be understaing it and it annoys so much. The woman we are referring to is the post modern woman, not the modern woman. let's at least that therminilogy, right so we can stop some of the confusion.
