Sometimes, you get a movie that might not be very good but ends up really good.

Love when you discover movies like that. It's how we find some of our favorites.

Yes, it can be very frustrating to collect physical media these days, depending on what you are looking for or how high your standards are, but it is especially difficult if you are just starting to buy your favorite films on physical media. In addition, today's price situation is causing problems for all of us, not only when it comes to the hobby, that's a fact, especially when a film goes out of print, you have to dig pretty deep into your pockets. It is true that physical media is more popular than ever today, but this also has its drawbacks as this hobby has now become a pure collector's market, especially with the 4K format, which is seen by many as a collector's item, which in itself is not exactly cheap for the average consumer. In addition, of course, this format is not suitable for everyone, so you need the best equipment to fully enjoy Dolby Atmos and HDR. In the end, everyone has to decide for themselves what type of collector they want to be, because even in 2024, there is nothing wrong with older formats like DVD and Bluray :) But unfortunately you are right about the Physical Media Community where many who almost exclusively prefer 4K make fun of others who still have DVDs in their collections, sometimes the Bluray is also bad-mouthed, as I said there is nothing wrong with older formats, buy what works best for you. Godspeed 🤘

Collecting definitely has some problems nowadays and no one should ever look down on someone who buys DVDs or blu-rays. They are helping to keep physical alive and strong same as 4K buyers. As long as you're having fun and enjoying what you watch is all that matters. Godspeed my friend 🤘💿📼📀

Just want to say thank you for some interesting topics on your channel. One of the reasons I hit subscribe is, to quote you, you’re ‘authentic’ and real. That’s important in a world where many people aren’t their true selves. A new subscriber from the United Kingdom.

As a Australian who Disney won't sell physical media to. I am waiting for my copy of deadpool and wolverine coming from england. Because they wont sell it to me in my own country i am forced to pay extra for for the product and that sucks.

That's absolute insanity that you have to do that. Duck Fisney man.

Same here. The Blu-Ray labels really need to slow down on the 4K UHD format! I keep hearing about crummy UHD discs. That format seems a bit too expensive for now. Then when you don't have the money and interest to upgrade to a 4K setup, you're going to buy less as well as buy dvd and bluray only!

I'd like to see more personal, individual content from creators. These "physical media" people talk about their struggles or anxiety or whatever, and it's often the same thing from creator to creator. We all have to make a video about this release that's the big deal and we're all paying through the teeth for it. I don't see "I found Tales From The Crypt Season 3 on DVD for $8 at the used book store and had a blast watching episodes with a friend and some beers on Saturday". Nope, instead it's "I had to pay $60 for this limited edition 4K steelbook with posters and lobby cards from this 'boutique'. Collecting is such a struggle!" You can buy whatever you want, and I do. I also bought the LE Trick Or Treat from Synapse/Red Shirt, and it is awesome, especially considering it's the first official-seeming release of the movie in the U.S. since VHS. I'm with you on this stuff, but collecting should never be a struggle. It should be fun, and now I'm seeing videos like "collecting physical media just isn't fun anymore" from someone who's been doing it for only a few years, and they have a whole wall full of discs behind them. Yeah, that's real work! Like I wonder if they're watching any of them or if they just spend all of their time buying and storing them. That would burn me right the heck out. And I keep seeing "this is dying", "that is dying". Doesn't anyone want to have fun doing this stuff? This is your freaking hobby, please don't be miserable doing it. When it creates problems for you, I have to ask "are you sure you're doing it right?"
@FanZceneVids2 ай бұрын
Man I'm with, personally I technically just have a problem with prices, but other than that I collect what I like. Watching those videos like you described is sad, they really seem to just do it to make content and clearly burn out. I do my best to stay positive and be genuine in how I feel. Just can't do what they do. Got to watch my movies and have fun with them, that's why I collect.

I don't have a physical media store in my hometown (I live in the Netherlands), but in a city nearby there is a media market where they still sell films on DVD, Bluray and 4k. I always go there by bike./I can also go with the train, it is doable in itself, but I would make it easier for myself if I bought everything online, but yes, I want to do my proverbial duty to keep physical media alive in stores as well. I recently bought Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Boy Kills World, new, I think the obstacles can be overcome, but I have decided that if the selection in the physical store shrinks to a pathetic little shelf, I will buy it all online (physical media) I hope that my actions do something because seeing is buying

Your doing the best you can and that's all that matters. We will keep physical media alive and well.

I think physical media will become more popular in the future due to the rise of AI. As AI becomes more sophisticated, it will become more difficult to know what's real in the digital world.
@FanZceneVids2 ай бұрын
I do believe physical media will definitely become even more popular in the future. It gives me hope.

I've thought of that before, and I think you're right. Pretty astute observation.

Hey Greg. Good factual video. The limiting of supply resulting in the driving up of the price for physical media is becoming a huge issue for collectors including myself. Then the double dipping and putting higher quality, re-encoded discs in $60 or $70 box sets makes me want to give up on the collecting. My expenditures after Black Friday will be going down. They just have to.
@FanZceneVids2 ай бұрын
It's some hard times for collectors with all this. I feel it will eventually pass, but the damage is being done.

Aside from availability, the biggest issue for me is space.

I was shocked to read about the $65 price for the Deadpool and Wolverine steel book. Ten years ago a scalper on Ebay might charge that amount for a steel book not a retailer. Fortunately I do not like most new movies so there are not many movies I want to buy anymore. I also decided not to "upgrade" to 4K. So I have most of what I want on BD or DVD. I think the high prices are going to push more people to streaming.
@FanZceneVids2 ай бұрын
That price is ridiculous, I couldn't believe it myself. I don't like most new movies either, and agree the pricing issue is going to push people out.
