Still today many will hate a friend, family member, neighbor, etc. when he has given his life to God, received the Holy Spirit, & been changed in miraculous ways & eyes opened, given better understanding of things than he had before. This is very troublesome for many. They'll go to church & pray, but they often lack any understanding & faith in God's ability to change, use, & even speak through those whom they've known as mere average & normal people. If God can speak through a donkey, he can speak through your neighbor, just sayin.....😅

Best thing about Dr Brants explanations is they are incredibly concise. Dr Brant is concise and explains it all very simply where it's easy for us to learn the true merging of the OT and the NT.

A parallel is that of Joseph. Joseph had a dream that his family would be lower than him or be in his hand in some way and his brothers were jealous and Joseph became second in command of Egypt.

In my new book, "The Life & Works of Jesus in Sequence", I presented this event in a way that reflected how the Jews responded based on how they understood the passage. That this is God declaring their salvation from their enemies and suffering. In essence, Jesus is not just declaring His prophetic role to "declare" the news but to assert His "Messianic" claim as King who will liberate Israel from their miserable condition. This claim to royalty is what they are scandalised of in the first part. The second part about miracles is something they don't care about because Jesus' ministry just started and the only feats they have heard about Him is the wine from the wedding (Cana, about a month ago) and the admirable act at Jerusalem's recent Passover (about a week or two)

Maybe for Catholics, His humanity is a stumbling block but for true believers, it is a sign that God loves us as we are. He became human so He could share the things we go through. He let us know he cares and that He feels our pain.

so why did Jesus give Mary to John on the cross? would be a huge insult to his "siblings" ....your biblical scholarship is unconvincing. it also makes zero sense of this pasage....Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not man? (from Luke 1)---this passage only makes sense (she was already betrothed to Joseph-) if she had taken a vow of virginity and Joseph knew about it

Dr Pitre addresses the question of Jesus's brothers and sisters at some length in The Case for Jesus and Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary - and in other places. You would do well to consider the evidence he presents there.
