@noobkanon25 ай бұрын
Deep dip might just be sport though, even though you have anchors, you're not aiming to start mid way off those. If you fall you start again from the bottom, just.. without the dieing ya know.. Free solo would be like a patience map easier tricks but more mentally challenging and a hardcore mode so you only get one attempt. To wirtual's point about DD though, the crux isn't usually the last section of a climb. You have difficutly that drains you in the middle-ish, and then your still have to work to the end, but it's in sight. You know you've beaten the hardest part and you just need to "focus up" to the end.

On deep dip 2: One of the things I really liked about DD1 was how dense it was in the tower. It had the perfect density so that you could fall all the way down, but more likely you would hit a dozen things first and get at least a chance or two at saving it. DD2 is way, way more open, huge gaps with no floors between where it's just nothing. If the floors were stacked on top of each other rather than mostly spiraling around, you'd be way more likely to drop an average of 3ish floors whenever you fell, which I think is desirable.

Speaking on Deep Dip 2: I think they can build a mammoth of a map like they did, but they need to release it in practice sections simultaneously. And I don’t mean like a floor by floor breakdown, but maybe since the map has 16 floors you split it into 4ths. Floor 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16. Then, the challenge won’t feel as mind numbing. You build up practice runs to master each section but the final challenge is mastering it all without failing a single time. Just doing one run on Deep Dip even after you’ve gotten decently good at all of the tricks is still going to take a long time where you’re forced to focus HARD. And I think this would allow you to make the map even bigger and more difficult while not making people want to rip their hair out. Once the map is fully cleared, you can then release individual floor practice maps for players who really want to grind one specific section. I understand the challenge they want to go for with this, but I think building bigger and harder challenges doesn’t work well unless you’re giving people the ability to practice for the big full challenge.

Or they should have made Checkpoints after floor 5/10/15. So you didnt need to drive from 0 if you fall from floor 14 or 16
@hihitherethere15 ай бұрын
@@joohm Checkpoints would really ruin the theme of the competition, I would suggest instead moving the harder floors more to the middle, so players fall less from floor 14 or 16 and instead fall more from floors 7-9, which is a lot more manageable.

For deep dip 3 they should put the super difficult floors inbetween some of the easier ones so it doesnt feel like your progression gets absolutely halted, and the dread of only having several more difficult floors ahead
@known14435 ай бұрын
They just need to add more "floor" just before hard floors so that you have a better chance of being caught and only falling one floor. Falling all the way down should be a risk, no the result of any bad jump.

@crankpatate33035 ай бұрын
I think deep dip 2 could have been great, if it had secret skip paths, that people could have discovered over time. Especially to skip the earlier parts of the climb and make it less of a grind. But they probably built it the way it is to make it the hardest map in the game and to keep a successful climb a testament of skill and resilience. Everything that makes it easier takes away from the prestige of getting to the end.

I have the solution for Deep Dip - dynamic floors. You beat floors 1-4, that opens stage 2 where floors 5-8 are unlocked but floors 1-4 are put on top of 5-8. Repeat this process until all floors have been unlocked, then have a final map. Essentially practice maps but reward would be unlocking the next sections.

The thing you're describing with DD2 is the reason why I never liked playing games like Flappy Bird, Icy Tower, but also Candy Crush where they make some levels super hard on purpose to coerce you into buying boosts, but it just means you will fail a 25-move-limited level over and over and over until you're out of trials for the moment, then have to wait, and then you try them again.

Deep Dip 2 might have been more tolerable as just the last 8 floors. Floor 8 was reached on day 3 as you said in the watch of Brens run. So the last 8 floors still took 90% of the overall time and after the first 3 days the first 8 floors were just tedium that were almost guaranteed to get (For anyone who had a reasonable chance to win the competition).

I wonder if Deep Dip 3 (if they make one) should have some sort of checkpoint system which is well balanced between rewarding and lenient for players who've become incredibly consistent at levels. A couple ideas could be every two levels could be a temporary checkpoint that you only unlock once you complete the two floor prior, but once you respawn at the checkpoint you lose it (and you respawn at the previous checkpoint two levels lower). This would require having to do 2-4 of the top floors repeatedly but if you're not consistent in those floors you can still be punished by doing more levels. Another option could be you respawn at half the distance that you fell, so if you drop 14 floors, you respawn at floor 7 to continue, and so on, but it's only an ability that unlocks after a certain floor, like floor 8 maybe.
@radical_dog5 ай бұрын
Something you could do without modding would be some drop-down tunnels with checkpoints in. So e.g. you have got up to floor 6, you can dive down to floor 4 and collect a floor 4 checkpoint.

It's not a waste if you do it for a living. It's just a matter of how bad you want it and if you're willing to do what it takes. Challenges like DD2 are my fav. It's a test of willpower and consistency over just how good you are in the game. It's a good representation of life and it's own challenges. Everything takes time no matter what.
