Actually 1/3rd of the human population has the fungus that matpat described, the one that controls ants (or something close to it that mindcontrols mice to suicide into cats I can't remember which one) in our bodies, which also affects us. Scientist have done studies on it and have found that people who have it like the smell of cat urine more than people who don't (has to do with the mice being attracted to it so they go towards cats instead of away) and we don't really know what else it changes in our brains. You know, considering Atrioc has read about "John Truby, The anatomy of story: 22 steps to become a masterful storyteller" and frequently uses the WAC technique in his videos. I really am surprised that Mr. Fungus fingers cant see that the Goombas really represent the Palestinians getting kicked out of their own kingdom (weakness) and is really a story about reclaiming what is theirs (action). I like how Atrioc rages at the video as if Game Theory videos aren't targeting the "9 year old kids with no object permanence and 30 seconds of auditory memory" demographic. But obviously this theory is all wrong and stupid because they are not mushrooms they are in fact called toads (not to be confused with frogs). Now toads are a bit different from mushrooms but I can see how someone visually impaired might think they are the same. Toads are toads. Peach is just a vegan and calls herself by what she eats the most because you know what they say, "you are what you eat". In the past she ate a lot of mushrooms so called herself Toadstool. Now she also eats a lot of peaches and calls herself Peach, and because she is of the royal family the denizens of the Mushroom Kingdom call her whatever she wants to be called. Now, it is called the mushroom kingdom because the buildings looked like mushrooms and then the whole kingdom became a tourist attraction for visitors from other kingdoms, mainly the Koopa Kingdom so they started outfitting themselves as mushrooms as part of the aesthetic and it stuck. You can't just decide something is not cannon Pat Mat just because it doesn't fit your theory. Toads are clearly amphibians that spend most of their time on land and have a friendly rivalry with the neighboring reptilian kingdom as shown in mario party, mario tennis, mario kart games Now goombas on the other hand... those are clearly a mistranslation of gabagool but can you blame the Japanese developers for never having visited the USA state of NJ? They are basically grown to be meat for the rest of the population of Koopa Kingdom sort of like the pigs of our world (smart for animals but not able to progress beyond) and go well with Shitake mushrooms

Atrioc knows that MatPat doesn't believe any of these theories are canon in any way, right? Like, he doesn't legitimately think that Nintendo secretly makes all these obscure backstories for all these characters. Besides a few exceptions, the theories are just trying to apply real world logic where it clearly can't fit for the sake of enjoyment. It's not meant to be taken all that seriously. It's meant to ask weird questions and find weird answers. Also, when he says, "remember that thing we talked about before", it's just a simple segue into the topic. It takes 2 seconds and establishes that he's back on that topic. Not anything to throw a fit over. It's just a transition. Yes, most of the theories are ridiculous, but that's kinda the point. I don't really watch game theory anymore, but I still think it's decently entertaining content, just not for everyone. Food theory is actually a lot more interesting to me because most of the videos he does there are based on real life things, so there are legitimate answers and evidence to be found. Some are better than others, but they are usually entertaining for a lot of people. Again, it's not everyone's thing, but I think Atrioc is a little over dramatic about it.

I think people misunderstand the point of game theory, I don't think the theories are meant to be taken as fact or even as a likely possibility, they are meant to look deeper into certain games and provide evidence that makes you think about aspects in a way you might not have before (the biggest case of this being the manual line "Mario is the hero (maybe)")
