Graduated high school in 1983. Listened to bands like The Jam, Aztec Camera, Tears For Fears, Echo And The Bunnymen and this band among many others. This was one of my all time favorites. 57 now and I see the time in my face and can't believe how much time has passed. Friends passing, old relationships, thick dense memories still haunt me when I hear this song. I know in my heart we will all be ok. Many dear blessings all.

I remember getting stationed at R.A.F. Chicksands in Bedfordshire England in 1982. (U.S.A.F.) I was already a fan of The Jam, and after I'd been there for a few weeks, a guy that was shipping out for the states sold me a beautiful Raleigh 18 speed road frame for 50 bucks! (It was common for guys leaving for home to give, or sell cheap, things like bikes, cars, etc) And a buddy of mine.. we'd ride 20 miles or more through rural Bedfordshire. Memories!

I think the issue people have is that Style Council was such a radical departure from what The Jam were. What a lot of the "haters" don't understand is that Paul Weller has always been a fan of American RnB and soul. Even The Jam kind of started off that way and when punk exploded, they were influenced by it and went in that direction (at least in the beginning).

Happy days, seems like yesterday- but can we agree....80s music saw some original, talented, fascinating and brilliant innovations in many music genres. I'm 57 -- Class of '85. First heard this song in London while taking college courses there. Happiest time of my life (1988, though the song was released in '84. Never heard it in the states.) When Lenny Kravitz' "It's Ain't Over 'til It's Over" came out (1991), I said "That sounds like Style Council." But both songs resemble Earth, Wind & Fire's "That's the Way of the World" (1975). And that IS the way of the world -- music is derivative. Great melody, regardless. Remodeled -- consciously or not -- for new generations.

My Ever Changing Moods The Style Council Daylight turns to moonlight and I'm at my best Praising the way it all works, and gazing upon the rest, yeah The cool before the warm, the calm after the storm The cool before the warm, the calm after the storm I wish to stay forever, letting this be my food Oh, but I'm caught up in a whirlwind And my ever changing moods, yeah Bitter turns to sugar, some call a passive tune But the day things turn sweet for me won't be too soon, no The hush before the silence, the winds after the blast Oh the hush before the silence, the winds after the blast I wish we'd move together, this time the bosses sued Oh, but we're caught up in the wilderness And an ever changing mood, yeah Teardrops turn to children who've never had the time To commit the sins they pay for through another's evil mind The love after the hate, the love we leave too late The love after the hate, the love we leave too late I wish we'd wake up one day, an' everyone feel moved Oh, but we're caught up in the dailies And an ever changing mood, yeah The cool before the warm, the calm after the storm The hush before the silence, the winds after the blast The love after the hate, the love we leave too late The love after the hate, the love we leave too late The cool before the warm, the calm after the storm, I said The hush before the silence, the winds after the blast The love after the hate, the love we leave too late I said The love after the hate, the love we leave too late😮

I loved the 80s. I was in my 20s and was into bunch of British bands but I missed these guys. I heard this song play at Amoeba music store 20 years ago and bought the CD

Good video. Notice they both win, congruous with the bands message - how much can be accomplished when we work together.
