I did exactly what Vaush said here. I was using sexual submissiveness to get through a difficult time in my life where I was deeply insecure about myself and needed the constant validation. I got into the first relationship I could with some guy who showed me the Dom energy I wanted... I flew to a different state to get sexually abused, stalked back across state lines and had to move to new location altogether. Dude showed up at my home one day out of the blue from 1500 miles away. I still worry he'll find and kill me or something. Please be safe, subs.

I feel like a lot of people self-IDing as subs are just people who want to have sex but they're virgins and they just want to be taken care of by a more experienced partner, and there's no shame in that but I wish they'd actualize that's what they want

@@kstar1489 To be fair, it's not entirely the act of labeling, it's the acts of some people who abuse sub/dom spaces and let things get out of hand. Like in this case, the man who abused and stalked Xenophorm is at fault here. Xen wanting to be a sub to seek validation at a difficult time in their life might be questionable, but motive doesn't violate social norms of BDSM. A person abusing another, and stalking.. certainly does!

@@Ass_of_Amalek The problem I have is that I fear being seen as some sort of freak or weirdo by the person I'd be telling it to. With prior partners I just try to express that I'm *very* open to whatever experimentation they may want, but I'm too nervous to suggest anything myself out of fear of them thinking lesser of me for those desires. I know that's not a good thing, but I just can't help feeling the way I do. I'm just lucky enough to not so badly desire those things that I feel like I need them. I've functioned perfectly fine in mostly vanilla relationships, because I fully understand it if someone is not really into experimentation. I am, similar to how Twitter subs act, pretty much down to try anything at all that isn't scat, vomit, or blood. However, I get embarassed admitting any of those desires to anyone. I am working on being more open and honest but it's a struggle.

@@DereBear and unfortunately that requires a level of confidence and assertiveness that many subs don’t have and they just attribute to “being a sub”. But being a sub actually requires not being very “submissive”. This is why I don’t like the idea of someone making it a personality thing. “Sub” is a role, not an integral personality or identity. It’s part of you but being submissive in bed doesn’t have to translate to being “sub” all the time (and often people just call insecurity being a sub). People tie way too much into these sexual roles. People forget many things our culture labels as being dominant or submissive can actually just not be good or healthy things.

Gotta disagree with Vaush on why you don't see this behavior from "doms." I don't think it's a disparity in social awareness at all - the "subs" who do this shit are COMPLETELY aware of what they're doing. The reason "doms" don't do it is because they don't have a humiliation fetish. Everyone doing this on a public forum is wholly aware that it's extremely embarrassing, it's just the fact that it's extremely embarrassing that gets them off.
@korsoredeemed4893
@korsoredeemed4893 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think doms don't do it just because they don't have a humiliation fetish. I think it's for multiple reasons. One of which, for example, could be shame. Being a dom and admitting to it, can also be a very shameful thing if you are self aware. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but lets stop speaking in stereotypes. Not all subs and doms are their cliches. I think that a lot of times you don't see this from doms because this kind of behaviour is often frowned apon and heavily criticised in the public sphere. I think many draw the line between their sexual fantasies and who they are outside of these fantasies.

@Siberius-
@Siberius- 2 жыл бұрын
Not all subs have a humiliation fetish... and not all of them are at all embarrassed by their behaviour, and they often shouldn't be (depending on the specifics. Often it's mainly shitposting, and not all of the people shitposting are even subs). Doms aren't openly doing this stuff because that would be seen as fucked up behaviour because it would be misconstrued as them being a shitty controlling problematic person in general who should not be around women at all. That's not really the image people want to put out there. With subs it's about themselves, not what they do "to" other people per se, but with doms it's about their dynamics with other people in a more direct and controlling way (not to say that subs don't involve other people with their posting, but the behaviour is less concerning in society as far as how people generally look at the two). Also there's just so much more funny creativity that can be had when it comes to being a sub, like whenever you criticise them, that just feeds into it (like this whole video), which is interesting and funny. There's a lot of social fun that can be had, because no matter how people react, it kind of feeds back into it (at least one can act like that either way). If doms had some kind of more socially acceptable behaviour that is more about their own feelings that could be used in creative ways, then that would also be seen I think. I think the humiliation has very little to do with it overall as far as what we're seeing online, but it's certainly an element that exists out there, for some people much more than others.
@korsoredeemed4893
@korsoredeemed4893 2 жыл бұрын
@@Siberius- I think there's also an interesting element, though again, we shouldn't generalise because it isn't ALWAYS the case. But ironically, there can be a lot of safety and power with subs (especially if they are healthy and self aware). In many of these relationships, they are the ones who set the limits of how far it can go, and the boundaries. They are the ones who usually ask for things to stop, and have an incredible amount of control on the severity of what happens to them, and what they can get put through. Being a dom can actually be very vulnerable, and being able to admit to, and recognise why you are a dom can be fairly difficult and humbling. Joking about it, or frivolising it would not be as easy to them as it is for subs. Though both control the rules of engagement for pleasure, a big part of it comes from security. The subs find security and a sense of emotional freedom from being controlled. If decisions are being made for you, you are free from responsabily and the exhausting nature of having to exert oneself. They find freedom in their lack of control. Doms tend to find security in asserting their control, because it is their way of asserting and establishing a sense of security and freedom they struggle to find elsewhere. Even those who act Dom within their social lives often do so as a deeprooted fear of being controlled themselves, of being hurt, of being humiliated or seen as vulnerable. The facade of power is to escape the deep sense of powerlessness they feel inside, and struggle to admit to themselves. To me, it's kinda obvious that Doms don't go around doing this stuff because, just like subs, you can easily see through it, and most of them know this. Exposing themselves this way kinda goes against their nature.
@Siberius-
@Siberius- 2 жыл бұрын
@@korsoredeemed4893 - I do think it's very important for a sub to know what they want, how to effectively communicate their desires and boundaries, knowing how they should be treated and how to stand up for themselves with how they should be treated, inside and outside of the bedroom. Being a sub, sure as hell doesn't mean just letting go of the reigns and handing them to somebody who has "dom-energy" who is hopefully not being confused with just being a shitty person of a certain variety. There's also the question of whether one wants that energy in the bedroom, or if they also want it outside of the bedroom. I don't think a domineering person is often going to make for a good relationship partner... if they always embody that trait. Relationships require a lot of teamwork. THOUGH, it really depends on the BDSM action in question. A lot of sub-dom BDSM is absolutely about teamwork and great communication and respecting and knowing the boundaries, and a dom that can navigate and perform that role responsibly, would likely be great in a general relationship (plus, I think those ones are far more likely to not be abusive people in general). Back to the start there, if a sub is using BDSM as a way to confront things in a way where they have control, then it makes total sense for them to have the true-reigns (I still need to learn more about this part though as it pertains to potential trauma and such). What you said about security is very interesting. So maybe doms would often try to be in control as much as they can in a relationship outside of the bedroom... though I imagine a lot of them understand that it's not in their best interest to do that, even though that's how they feel most comfortable, so the bedroom is where that behaviour can be, since they would have restrictions on themselves outside of the bedroom, not just because of fitting into society. Maybe! what would I know.

I don't think it's actually about "submissive people being cringy and dominant people having the social awareness to not behave like this online." I think it's more that people realized, acting submissive is the only way they can express their pent-up sex drive online, without getting canceled for being a creep. Because if you are talking about wanting to fuck someone, then you are the "actor" rather than the "acted upon." That's part of why cat-calling is so creepy, because typically someone is shouting all the obscene things they want to DO TO another person. So, some people realized they can say whatever they want, as long as they flip it on its head. If they turn themselves into the sexual object - the "acted upon." They can express their sexuality without accidentally coming across as predatory, because they are the prey.

Not going to lie, I think Vaush is just kind of being socially unaware with this. I may not look too much at... the subs on twitter he's discussing, or have seen the original "d i s c o u r s e" but from what I've seen, and from how it's being described, these just sound like sub jokes to me? Like, if someone is being mean to you and your response is "Oh, hit me daddy *pensive emoji*" It's not really... horny posting IMO? I don't know, I legitimately think this is being extrapolated to be more than it really is to the point where it feels like Vaush is shaming people for casually hinting at their sexuality. I genuinely don't think this is that serious. you can say those jokes are over done, or otherwise unfunny, but that's separate from saying people have an emotional defect. Like, come on man lmao. Just wear a cross and call them degenerates at that point.

This! 100% Please people, just go to a place specifically for it and just look for people who want it. If you're just throwing yourself at absolutely everyone constantly even in non-lewd spaces you're being annoying, displaying absolutely no standards or self respect (which, spoilers, is not actually attractive), showing boundary issues (which is a giant red flag to anyone actually into BDSM, because it's indicative behavior of those who have problems with SSC and actually using safewords), and you're blending in with vanilla people who are either just joking or using submissive aestetics in a desperate bid for attention. If you're desperate and taking this stuff to Twitter, you're desperate _because_ you're taking this stuff to Twitter. Online spaces to RP and/or educate yourself abound. DISCLAIMER: only for over 18. If you're under 18, the closest thing you should ever get to ERP with another person is single player games. That's for everyone involved's protection. There is plenty of drawn, written, and/or coded material to keep you occupied for a few years, I promise.

Maybe the subs on twitter into Female lead relationships wouldn't be so desperate if the concept was supported literally anywhere in the world, but it's not. (unless you're Female on female, like lesbian relationships.) The idea of female subs being desperate for a male dom though is funny, the world is literally a male dominated place, most males are dominant by default due to how they are nurtured. It's not hard to get a male dominant, it's pretty tricky to get a female one though, since the world is so religiously dominated and we know religion likes to put men above women... But yeah, acting desperate won't get you anywhere, but good luck getting these individuals to actually listen to you. I wonder if Vaush would make a video on how FLR is taboo or shameful, but MLR is so supported it's shoved down our throats daily...

Tbh that’s part of why I don’t like this normalization of bdsm in the mainstream. It’s just let’s people not question their own desires of “domination” and “submission” and just say it’s a kink. Mixing something that needs introspection and clear lines of consent and the ability to communicate needs into a mainstream that is not good at any of that. It just feels so shitty to me how common degradation of women and “domination” of them in bed is so normalized and of course women will internalize it. And now it’s just kink so we can’t question it or try to fight for less domination and degradation centered portrayals in places like porn or whatever. Tbh I don’t think we can have honest exploration when it’s so tied into sexism and normalized in that way. Then you get people thinking women are naturally more submissive. It’s all confusing and irritating. As a woman it bugs me how much this stuff seeps into my head even though I don’t want it to and desire something else, but it ends up just entering and messing with your head. The idea of being a desirable woman being tied to being submissive is just so prevalent in small ways and it’s sad tbh. Even things like femdom in porn it’s still centered on the man’s pleasure. Idk it’s a mess
@kstar1489
@kstar1489 2 жыл бұрын
@@Ass_of_Amalek you’re discussing the conflicting narratives in many straight relationships. It is true that men often expect to be taken care of by a woman almost like a child, but they ALSO expect to be the head of the household and be dominant. It’s contradictory on some levels but it’s absolutely part if putting men above women. I mean having a person essentially take care of and serve you it ultimately in many ways putting yourself above them and “dominating” them. Really a lot of actions are neutral until you add a certain context. A lot of things are not inherently dom or sub until you add a context around it.

My response to a guy saying it's just a humiliation thing: Not all subs have a humiliation fetish... and not all of them are at all embarrassed by their behaviour, and they often shouldn't be (depending on the specifics.
