Did anyone else have that "Oh shit, Waller really is a monster" moment when they realized the reason she wanted to "Turn Bloodsport into a leader" was connected to the plan of team 1 being cannon fodder? Not just that she needed a leader plausible leader for each team but that she specifically decided that Flag was expendable and Bloodsport would be her preferred field leader going forward (similar skill set and experience, but that Flag's more developed moral compass made him harder to control). On top of this she almost certainly knew the people who had `captured Flag' that she sent squad 2 to `rescue him' from, were rebels and not actually a threat to Flag. What she was really worried about was the idea that if Flag worked with the rebels they might get hold of the information she wanted covered up, so `rescuing him' was more about getting him back under her control. So nasty.
@shoe7ess23 жыл бұрын
I caught the first one, no way Waller didn't know about a prisoner contacting the government (and strategically "distracting" the majority of their patrols/army to one centralized area). I didn't even think of the fact that she most certainly knew he was taken by rebels, especially since when they find him he's having tea, and had most likely communicated his circumstance back with base before Team 2 got there.

A couple things I noticed: Jotunheim (obviously home to the Frost giants), is translated a "giant." The name of the complex is a reference to the "giant," that it is housing. Bloodsport was a replacement for Deadshot because Will Smith didn't join the cast. Deadshot in the first movie had a great relationship with his daughter and surrendered rather than show his ugly side in front of her. Its all very cliche. Bloodsport gets brought to see his daughter, and at first it looks like it will be a straight repeat of the same father-daughter dynamic. Then the twist hits and its clear the two have a dynamic completely different. Perfect example of the difference between the two movies.

Harley’s sequence pulled a cinematic cord that recalls Scottie’s nightmare sequence from Hitchcock’s Vertigo. The bouquet transitions in Vertigo from the photographic to the animated in a flash, albeit from a dated perspective, similarly as the suspension of the viewer’s belief in the reality of the screen that we get right as Harley unleashes her radial mandala of trauma and beauty with guns blazing . The stories transition’s accomplish the jolt we all love to indulge in giving us a bumpy ride through each character’s formal realities. Either Gunn or Hitchcock, both serve up glorious escapism!

John Cena was ridiculously good in this movie. The degree of difficulty for his character was a lot higher than Dave Batista's Drax in the Guardians movies (the first one anyway). Obviously, we all know David Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man) has had a dozen other DC related roles, and appeared in Ant-Man. However, it's interesting he voiced Calendar Man in Long Halloween which released a month ago (who shows up in this movie mocking Polka-Dot Man). And in The Flash, he played Abra Cadabra who appeared inside the STAR Labs facility, which he also references being inside as a kid in The Suicide Squad.

A few things I noticed: - With the exception of previously established characters like Harley, all of the actors used their natural accents, even when it may appear contradictory, like having Ratcatcher 1 speak with a NZ accent while his daughter speaks with a Portuguese accent. - There are all kinds of little cinematic nods to other directors, including in a lot of the in-world setting establishing text (like the elevator button felt a little Wes Anderson-ish) but I think conceptually that idea was also to link to the comic books in the way they often add titles into the art. - Other cinematic homages I noticed were small scenes and moments that felt like Edgar Wright visual gags, some Tarantino style zoom shots, and probably the most blatant- much more vibrant and interesting slow-mo action shots that seem targeted at Zack Snyder, with the extreme slow-mo frame-as-a-painting style but that are more funny and pretty than the usual badass Snyder style. - The film definitely felt more like it was picking up the tone, visual style, and storytelling techniques from Birds of Prey far more than anything else in the DCEU, and that film deserves more credit for setting this up than even Ayer's Suicide Squad.
