Keep in mind that the original Ayer Cut had no licensed or original music and instead was all score-based by Steven Price, as confirmed by the director himself. This means that all of the songs on the album as well as the songs in the theatrical cut itself were ordered by WB to be as commercial and audience-friendly as possible and in no way the intention of the director himself.

Good to know. I wasn't in any way trying to disparage anyone involved with SS save studio interference, I was more interested in figuring out why guys like James Gunn are so good at making movie soundtracks, and I figured the best way to show his style would be comparing the two movies side by side since their use of music is so different.

i had noticed the gigolo detail and wondered if anyone made an essay on how brilliantly james gunn uses music and bam! here it is! outstanding video btw I think James Gunn has the best soundtracks in all his movies. kinda cringe going back to certain blockbusters that have all the “hip” songs of that time just to be trendy. Gunn's films will forever be timeless because of his music choice 👌

I really love the first Suicide Squad's soundtrack, I just don't like the songs in the movie, and I'm one of the few people who actually likes the movie a lot. I really hope we get to see Ayer's original cut that was supposed to be more score driven

I respectfully have to disagree. Suicide squad might be a bad movie but goddamn that soundtrack was insane. Literally the best of any movie I've ever seen. So many original hits.

The sound track is good, but it would help if the suicide squad was a movie with depth and likeable characters and good plot. James Gunn is good at picking soundtracks , but not as good in making a good movie

Literally. None of those songs matched the scenes. It's stupid when people try to use classical or oldies for fights. Like wtf, really makes the fight scene downplayed and stupid. It's not hard at all
