I had planned on releasing this last November 17th, but given recent events (I was recently hospitalized for severe asthma attack and respiratory failure) and the current typhoons in the Philippines (delaying some of the artwork), I had to reshuffle my channel’s schedule. For instance, the Revolt of the Lakans video was initially set for October 26 but will now be released next week. ❤🩹 Maraming salamat for your patience and support as I get back on my feet to share more amazing content with you all! 🙏🏽

Wow, I was aware of the sultanates & the significance of the Sultanate of Sulu (even today, with the land-disputes with Malaysia). But that it was founded by a descendant of Muhammad (& your shared ancestry)‽ Mind blown! Goes to show: There's way more to history than we're taught in schools (regretfully). Thankfully, we have channels like your filling-in the gaps. Keep-up the good work, man! I love looking into the complexities of (modern) geopolitics, territorial-disputes, and rival-governments, but haven't looked into the Sulu & Brunei disputes, given the very long histories involved. So, it would be nice to see your expert take on the situation, its background, etc.

Thanks so much for the kind words! 😊 There’s definitely so much more to the Sultanate’s history than what we learn in school, and I’m glad the video highlighted those connections. I’ve been covering these connections and topics in my videos, so stay tuned for more! Salámat for the support! 🙏🏽

Hi Sir, labas po ito sa topic ng video. Ano po ang history natin in terms of shaking hands and greetings.

Established The Sultanate of Sulu was established in 1450 by Sultan Abu Bakr. It was the first self-governing and self-determining state in the Philippines. Location The Sultanate of Sulu ruled over the Sulu Archipelago, parts of Palawan, coastal areas of Zamboanga City, and parts of Sabah and North Kalimantan in Borneo. Significance The Sultanate of Sulu was a Sunni Muslim state that played a key role in the development of Muslim society in the Southern Philippines before the colonial era. It also strengthened the spread of Islam and established diplomatic relations with other countries. End The Sultanate of Sulu lasted until 1915, when it was succeeded by the Maguindanao Sultanate in the early 16th century. In 1940, the sultan ceded the Sulus to the Philippines. Sultans Some sultans of Sulu include: Sultan Jamal ul-Azam (1862-1881) Sultan Mohammed Badarud-Din II (1881-1884) Sultan Harun Ar-Rashid (1886-1894) Sultan Jamalul Kiram II (1894-1936)

Nowhere in this video was it claimed or implied that Hinduism or Buddhism didn’t exist in the Philippines before the arrival of Islam. The focus of this video is on the establishment of the Sultanate of Sulu and its historical context, not a comparative discussion of earlier religious influences.

Sulu wasn't an empire. It was a tributary of the Majapahit empire. You should be careful with your words.
@KirbyAraullo23 сағат бұрын
While it's true that Sulu was mentioned as a tributary of the Majapahit empire (Nagarakertagama, 1365), Sulu eventually became an empire on its own in the 1600s-1800s. Keep in mind that the Sulu Sultanate (the topic of this video) was established in the early 1400s, around the same time that the Majapahit began to decline due to its civil war/internal conflict over the Majapahit throne. Sulu's 'Golden Age' or the peak of its maritime power began from the 1600s to the 1800s, long after the collapse of the Majapahit empire in the late 1400s/early 1500s. Just because Sulu was once a tributary to the Majapahit it doesn't mean it cannot be free and grow as an empire on its own. That's like saying the United States cannot be an empire because it was once a colony of the UK, or like saying that the British Empire cannot be an empire because the early English kingdoms were once tributaries of the Vikings or colonies of the Roman Empire.
@plsmlbcy23 сағат бұрын
