Dehydrate some of the figs and then they can be cut up into oatmeal in fall and winter or baked into oatmeal cookies instead of raisins.

I just posted a video this morning on red Malabar spinach. I love to eat it raw too. Some people say it gets slimy when you cook it. I like to cut it up into tiny pieces for my scrambled eggs and stir fries too. I love to see your boys being boys.

You should build a little turtle pond for the boys ❤️ maybe they could be responsible to take care of it and it would be so sweet to watch ❤️ would be nice to have one day, would just have to figure out a way to have it and not have it attract mosquitoes

The Malabar looks and tastes just like the spinach I grow in the winter. I planted a bunch of seeds, but only a few made it. This weekend will be my garden cleaning up day. Especially the Zucchino Rampicante, which has nearly completely taken over my whole back yard. But, thankfully I did get more than enough squash to can and freeze. We have a roaming turtle that someone painted orange. I call him Clyde. Back in the old days, those box turtles we're referred to as cooters. Your boys are the cutest things. Love the latest update on the garden. Y'all be blessed!

There is no bad publicity. KZbin counts it as positive feedback whether the thumb is up or down, it means it was looked at. Also, if you accidentally hit thumbs down, either hit it again or hit thumbs up. Either way it cancels it out.

Jess, do you think you are going to pull out your banana trees for winter or are you going to let them ride out the winter in the ground? This is my first year with them and someone told me I have to dig it up and replant every year but man I don’t wanna have to do that. I’m in 7b also.

Crazy..."cool" down there? I just checked Accuweather--for our MONTH OF August up here (nearby...Lake Superior--as can EASILY blow in COLD winds midsummer) and, our "high" projected for this month is 73 (later on). Meanwhile...? 60's and low...70's--nighttime 50's ("winter" for you...folks, probably). And...? SOME local gardeners may (still?) be looking FORWARDS towards ripening tomatoes--hmm, by early...September? 85 degrees....? Get the AIR CONDITIONERS going, folks? God bless! (I haven't got any garden going myself--without any...land for itself, presently--so...? Must "taste" vine-ripened tomatoes by...memory, of course? Yum...?)

Im a big fan of fruit butters. I just made peach butter, and apple butter is a favorite. My 1st thought when you said no sugar was" fig butter" . butters typically have no sugar! Ive not had it, but it sounds delicious. It could be used many ways. I use fruit butters for cupcake fillings to to yogurt toppings, or just toast. I looked this up for you, but you may be able to find another. Let me know how it tastes if you make it😁 www.diabeticfoodie.com/2010/05/fig-butter/

I’m thinking you could make fig butter? Like we have a pear tree and I make pear butter with no sugar..just simmer the pears in the crockpot for up to 24 hrs or however long it takes to get it really thick and usually add lemon juice and spices of my choice like cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, vanilla. Then water bath for 20 min. Maybe best to pressure can them..I’d have to do some research on figs to be positive this is safe like pears. Also, fig roll ups in the dehydrator.

Put figs in pot, cover with water and boil 2 min.Drain, put back in pot add a light syrup made with honey boil gently 5 min. Add 1T bottled lemon juice per pts jar. Fill jars with figs and add cooking liquid.process in water bath for 45 minutes for under 1000 feet over 50 minutes. You can make your light syrup to your taste, figs are naturally sweet so you really don't need much honey but you do need the liquid.
