I don’t have a garden...yet. I only have 3 Venus flytraps and one deadish tomato plant that some real estate guys tossed in my driveway (they do that every year and I plant it every time). I get bored easily but you, you are so easy to watch. I find everything you say so pleasant and interesting even the sad parts yes. Because “that’s how life is”. Thank you! 😊❤️

Oh, Jess... The drone footage adds a whole new dimension to the beginning of your videos. Very nice! Ben-tern: Thank you for releasing the drone! Jess, saving lots of seeds means you have EXTRAS for sharing... plus a "safety margin" in case there is pest damage or a crop failure. (Don't you love how I "justify" our excessive seed-saving proclivities?😜) -- Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA -- 8/12/2019.

I'm convinced those drones are programmed at the factory to fly into trees. Once the camera spots a suitable tree, the drone will make its way toward it no matter what you do to try to fly it somewhere else. See the video on my channel of my first flight with an E58 drone. Mine however got stuck about 30 feet up a pine tree. Climbing wasn't an options so I decided to try something else. You may not want to try what I did! I tried to shoot through one of the limbs holding the drone with my .22 rifle. I did hit the limb at first but on my second shot I managed to shoot through a drone arm, thereby destroying that arm. So if you are not truly happy with that particularly drone and want a new one, I'd say try shooting it out of the tree. I was able to buy a different drone shortly thereafter! HA HA. Tell your wife drones are not adult toys. They are simply made to look like toys and work like toys but that is just to conceal their true purpose, which is to keep you from having to do garden chores.

Jessica! I love your garden and wish mine could be like yours (alas too much shade). Quick suggestion...have you thought about growing your tomatoes in a spot that's protected from afternoon sun and interspersed with marigolds? My tomato plants are still lush and producing now because they are near marigolds and get morning sun. I live in zone 8b (almost in FL) so its way hotter and summer is longer.

You're right about drones, it is an excuse to play with remote controlled toys! Lol Wow, your blight does get really bad. My tomatoes are just starting to get hit, but they are mostly healthy (But we don't get 100 degree weather in Ohio). Question about runner beans. My plants are still healthy and growing but had lost all their flowers a month ago. Will they produce again as it cools down?

I literally just had the "seeds spilling out of the pocket" thing happen to me yesterday in the store. Yesterday morning I was collecting seeds in the garden and ran out of bottles, so I started putting them in my apron pockets. Then I ran out of apron pockets and ended up shoving a last bit in my jeans pocket (a few handfuls of dill seeds). I totally forgot about them and went to pick up one of my daughter's boyfriends for Sunday family day. We stopped at the store to pick up a few last minute things for dinner and when I went to get exact change out of my pocket seeds flew everywhere! Everyone in line laghed, and one lady reached into HER pocket and pulled out a handful of seeds to show around. Farming communities... it's a thing. LOL

Totally agree on the seed saving/collecting. It's basically free food. So how can we throw that away?!?! Lol I laughed out loud about drones being a man's excuse to have a remote control toy! So true. Excited to plant fall seeds, sad to pull out my summer plants. I started a month later than you so I still have watermelon and beans coming on. But the tomatoes and zucchini/ yellow squash are about done. Very bittersweet.

Saving seeds just gives you more time in the garden. I planted Marigolds this year and out of 30 plants I have pounds of seeds that I am saving. I have chive seeds from one plant that I have been growing for two years. As you follow you journey as a gardener, you find yourself more interested in how these plants grow. You start propagating more plants, starting more seeds, starting new plants, giving more food to neighbors. This is the start to a long love affair with your garden. The dirt, the way food is grown, and a life style many dream about. So keep saving seeds, planting new plants, and making your little piece of heaven beautiful. - Jeff
