A project I worked on over Summer '23 in Big Bear. Was a lot harder than I thought, but I learned a lot and had tons of fun making this video! Hope you enjoy.

Your videos are something special. I think I just like your humble and chill manner of speaking. Hearing you say you struggle to find people stoked to climb harder sport routes is so relatable

Thank you so much for this video 🧡 Somehow found myself learning to top rope solo this summer and it's been such an adventure and personal journey. I wish i could make such a beautiful video about it =) I also got so much inspiration from Amir and Gerke Hoerkstra's video. I knew these moments alone with the rock would be very special. And quite a struggle too ! So scary at first. Getting better at it but still not unusual to spend half of the time working on logistics, how to get to the top safely, making anchors ... But what a treat once it's setup. Maybe i'll try lead solo one day =)

Congrats on the send! Glad you took your time and tested everything when solo climbing! Without a partner check, it really comes down to testing and doing a risk assessment every single time. Well done. Let me know if you're ever in Europe! I pretty much guarantee you can climb 5.13a with the right tactics and strategy :)

Cool seeing someone learn this ancient art. Did it ever occur to you to just aid up the bolts for the 12a project instead of climbing the 5.7 line?

Use a taz lov2 with a microtrax or rollnlock as back up underneath. The taz love lets you lower when ever you want without switching your gear.

came here to say this - taz lov2 is amazing. when you TR solo, weight the rope at the bottom with a bag and the rope feeds through it so cleanly!

Thanks for the video! It's hard to tell for sure but it looks like you have the ASAP attached with just a non-locker to your gear loop (not safety rated) whereas the video you reference has it attached with a locking draw to the belay loop. Was that intentional?

Hey Boss, first of all, welcome back. Secondly, I was wondering if you'd recommend doing that exercise over actual climbing for those 5 minutes. I have a 30 degree home wall. Is there any benefit to keeping your feet stationary and only moving your arms?

it will increase your body tension by a huge amount

I don't have that good of endurance myself, so I think I prefer the hangboard. If I tried to do 5 minutes on a 30 degree board, I probably wouldn't last that long. The hangboard is nice because it's such a controlled exercise. There's always a selectable larger hold size to jump to and I think the additional amount of time you can stay on, even if it's on a large hold, will increase the stimulus and time under tension of your forearms compared to if you were forced to fall off a board that is too intense. Not to mention, you can always decrease the angle of your feet with the hangboard exercise to titrate the intensity to your desire! Eventually though, I do want to be fit enough to do 5 minutes on an actual board. But this simple method will do for now!
